Rabbi Shmuley Boteach—Hillary’s Email Trail of Troubling Anti-Israel Conversations:
Sidney Blumenthal has been an intimate family friend to Hillary Clinton for two decades, and the emails between them show late night calls, social visits to one another’s home, and all the informality expected of two close and trusted friends. We know Mr. Blumenthal was a senior adviser to Ms. Clinton during her 2008 campaign for the presidency and would have continued during her time as secretary of state had his appointment not been stopped by President Obama’s staff due to Mr. Blumenthal’s penchant for nasty campaign tactics.
Nonetheless, Ms. Clinton valued Mr. Blumenthal’s advice to such a degree that she secretly hired him as a private advisor, paying him $120,000 a year for his services.
A number of columns have been written exposing how Mr. Blumenthal sent articles to Ms. Clinton from his son Max, one of America’s most notorious Israel haters. Ms. Clinton responded very favorably to them. Some of these writings would later be the basis for Max’s anti-Semitic Goliath, whose book launch was thrown by Sid at his own home. The disgraceful writings compare Israel to the Nazis, call for the expulsion of the Jews from Israel and whitewash Palestinian terrorism. For good measure Max also compares the Israel Defense Forces to the SS.
The emails thus released show that Mr. Blumenthal sent 19 articles written by Max, most of which contained deep anti-Israel sentiment.
What is truly unsettling is Ms. Clinton’s glowing praise for Max’s work. On numerous occasions she forwarded the articles to her staff with the words “Pls print,” and a number of times she asked for multiple copies so that she could hand them out to her staff and discuss them.

WND—These are the “most godless” cities in America: Three of the most godless cities in America are on the West coast, with the Rose City – Portland, Oregon – coming in as the least faithful. According to a survey of 50,000 people conducted by the nonpartisan and nonprofit Public Religion Research Institute’s American Values Atlas, 42 percent of Portland’s residents are “religiously unaffiliated.” Seattle and San Francisco tied at second place (33 percent), with Denver and Phoenix (32 percent and 26 percent) in third and fourth place.
SnyderTalk Comment: Many believers are becoming “religiously unaffiliated”. I think you can make a strong argument that the most faithful people are becoming “religiously unaffiliated” for reasons that have to do with the things they see in institutional religion.
Even so, these findings are worth considering, especially the finding about the rapid growth in the number of people who profess to be atheists.

BBC—No 10 claims ‘progress’ in UK-EU renegotiation talks: A “breakthrough” on plans to restrict benefits for EU migrants was claimed after talks between David Cameron and top EU official Donald Tusk on Sunday. But BBC assistant political editor Norman Smith said there was, as yet, no agreement on any of the UK’s four aims. Mr Tusk said “intensive work” would be needed during the coming hours. The aim is to agree a deal to be put to EU leaders ahead of a summit on 18 and 19 February.

The Association of International Truckers said Monday that Turkey refused to renew an agreement allowing Russian truckers to bring goods into Turkey.
TIME—German Girl Admits to Lying About Migrant Rape Claim: A 13-year-old girl has confessed to concocting claims that she was kidnapped and raped by migrants after her allegations triggered outrage and a diplomatic dispute between Germany and Russia. The Russian-German girl, who was only named as Lisa, admitted to lying about the alleged rape and abduction, prosecutors said Sunday, according to the Guardian. She was reported missing on Jan. 11 after she failed to show up at school and emerged 30 hours later with injuries on her face, claiming she was attacked in Berlin by men of Middle Eastern or north African appearance, the newspaper said.

SnyderTalk Comment: The Matterhorn is a mountain in Switzerland’s Alpine range with an elevation of 14,692 feet. Its formation started about 200 million years ago when Pangaea broke up.
“Horn” is a term used to denote a mountain that was formed by converging glaciers because it leaves a “horn” at the top, typically in a pyramidal shape. The Matterhorn acquired its distinctive sides during the Ice Ages as huge glaciers cut away at the mountain.
The glaciers that formed the Matterhorn were huge. Many glaciers during the Ice Ages were more than a mile high.
Glaciers more than a mile high covered all of New England during the Ice Ages. That’s why today the soil in New England contains so many rocks that were formed by glacial action.
It’s also why you see so many rock fences in Massachusetts, for example. If you turn over dirt, you will find rock. Rock fences are a great way to use something that would be expensive to remove.
What if people during an Ice Age had decided to spend their scarce resources to stop climate change because their way of life and their economy were based on the climate as it was? What would we say about them today?
I was introduced to the Matterhorn in the 6th grade by my teacher, Mrs. Dyer. I studied it again in college in a global weather class.
If either of my teachers had told me that people living during the Matterhorn’s formation took resources that they needed for food, clothing, shelter, defense, and healthcare and spent them to combat the shrinking glaciers, I would have thought they were superstitious and foolish.
Can we learn anything from this? Of course, we can.
The climate is changing. It always has changed. It always will change. We can’t prevent it from changing.
It’s ridiculous to draw a line in the sand and say, “This is the way things ought to be.” Our best efforts can’t stop from happening things that are going to happen no matter what we do.
Trying to stop climate change now is just as foolish as it would have been during the Ice Ages. We change as our environment changes or we die.
That’s the way it is. That’s the way it always has been. The way we would like things to be is irrelevant.
We are wasting scarce resources by pouring money into stopping climate change. We should use the resources we have to do things that we can actually accomplish: things like finding cures for diseases and feeding the starving among us.
Interestingly, warmer periods in earth’s history have been associated with prosperity. Cooler periods have been associated with plagues, famines, and death.

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.
