June 30, 2020 SnyderTalk—Of Course, Jewish People are Angry When So-Called “Christians” Try to Convert Them

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Of Course, Jewish People are Angry When So-Called “Christians” Try to Convert Them

See “Israel orders evangelical Christian media network God TV to take channel off air”:

Israel’s regulator has ordered an evangelical Christian broadcaster’s new channel off the air, saying it applied to serve a Christian audience but instead has sought to persuade Jews with the gospel of Jesus.

In a statement, the Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council said its chairman, Asher Biton, told the Israeli cable provider Hot on Thursday that evangelical broadcaster God TV’s channel Shelanu — which means “ours” in Hebrew — must come off the air in seven days.

“An examination of the council’s supervision wing shows that the channel does not appeal to the Christian population in Israel, but rather to the Jews,” the council said in a written statement. “Therefore, the characterization of the channel submitted for approval does not reflect its broadcasts.”

The spokesman for Shelanu, Ron Cantor, Israel regional director for God TV, said it was false that the broadcaster had broken its agreement.

“Our license, granted by the state of Israel, says in Hebrew that our target audience is the audience of Israeli viewers,” Cantor said in an emailed statement. “There is no stipulation whatsoever that we must target Christians.”

The Things We Do in the Name of Religion

The problem addressed in this article boils down to the belief in Israel that a television network, Shelanu, is attempting to convert Jewish people in Israel to another religion, i.e. a religion other than Judaism.

The operative word is “convert”.

In Israel, there is a long history of others trying to convert Jews to their religions.  The Greeks did it; the Romans did it before Christianity became a religion; and the Romans did it again after Christianity became a religion.

Converting Jews to Christianity is Ridiculous

Christianity is a religion.  It was introduced by Constantine in the 300s AD when he created the Roman Catholic Church. In the 1500s AD, Protestantism altered the trajectory of Catholicism only slightly.  It’s a religion, too.

Judaism is a religion as well.  It started in the 900s BC after King Solomon’s death when Israel and Judah separated, but it didn’t become the Judaism that we know today until the Babylonian Captivity in the 500s BC.

Religion isn’t Sanctioned by Yahweh

Neither Judaism nor Christianity were sanctioned by Yahweh. Yahweh talks about faith, not religion.  It’s “the faith of Abraham” that He laid out in the Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings, a.k.a. the Old Testament or the Tanach.

The Torah, the Prophets, and the Writings (the Old Testament or the Tanach) are the Scriptures.  The Messiah made that clear in the Gospels.  Paul made it clear in his letters as well.

See The Trilogy.

Yahweh’s faithful followers should not attempt to convert anyone to any religion.  Their goal should be to convey Yahweh’s message in the Scriptures (the Old Testament or the Tanach).

The Rich Man and Lazarus

The Scriptures are powerful. The Messiah made that crystal clear in His parable about “The Rich Man and Lazarus”.  It’s presented in Luke 16: 19-31:

“Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. And a poor man named Lazarus was laid at his gate, covered with sores, and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man’s table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. In Hades he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that during your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.’ And he said, ‘Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father’s house — for I have five brothers — in order that he may warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them hear them.’ But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”

Of Course, Jewish People are Angry: They Should Be

When the Messiah said, “Moses and the Prophets”, He was talking about the Old Testament or the Tanach.  He said that we need to direct people to the Scriptures, not try to convert them to a religion.

Just tell them about the Scriptures.

Of course, Jewish people are angry when anyone tries to convert them to Christianity.  I just wish they understood that Judaism is a religion.  It’s based on Halacha, not the Tanach. I also wish that Christians knew that Christianity is a man-made religion.

One day, Jewish people will get it. So will Christians. Yahweh will see to it.

Yahweh Yireh is one of His Names.  So is Yahweh Tsidkenu.

Several Names for Yahweh Found in the Bible and Their Meanings

Yahweh—Typically, the meaning of Yahweh is presented as “I Am”, but it’s more correct to say, “I Exist”. Yahweh is the Creator. He was; He is; and He will be. The Name Yahweh is used when referring to Yahweh the Father, Yahweh the Son, and Yahweh the Spirit. They share the Name Yahweh. They are distinct, but they are One, Echad.

Elohim—Strong One.  It is used when referring to Yahweh or to a pagan god.  When it refers to Yahweh, it is translated as “God”, and when it refers to a pagan god it is translated as “god”.  Elohim is a plural word that suggests majesty.

Adonai—Lord or Master of all.  It is used when referring to Yahweh or to men.  When it refers to Yahweh, it is translated as “Lord”, and when it refers to men it is translated as “lord”.  Adonai suggests a master-servant relationship.

El Gibbor—Mighty El.  A powerful Warrior Elohim who protects and defends His people.

El Elyon—El Most High or strongest Strong One.

El Roi—the Strong One who sees.

El Shaddai—Almighty El.  It means sufficient or enough and refers to Yahweh as the One who sets constraints or limits in the universe.

El Olam—Everlasting El.

Yahweh Yireh—Yahweh will see to it/take care of it/provide.

Yahweh Nissi—Yahweh our Banner.

Yahweh Shalom—Yahweh our Peace.

Yahweh Sabaoth—This Name is translated in most Bibles as “LORD of hosts”.  It refers to Yahweh as the Leader of a great army.  The Tanach interprets this Name as “HASHEM Master of Legions”.

Yahweh Maccaddeshcem—Yahweh our Sanctifier.

Yahweh Raah—Yahweh our Shepherd.

Yahweh Tsidkenu—Yahweh our Righteousness.

Yahweh El Gmolah—Yahweh El of Recompense or Yahweh our Reward.

Yahweh Shammah—Yahweh who is present.

Yahweh Raphah—Yahweh our Healer.  A literal translation of this Name is Yahweh our doctor.

Yahweh Yireh

Yahweh Yireh is one of Yahweh’s Names. It means Yahweh will see to it/take care of it/provide.

Read Genesis 22. That’s where Yahweh uses the Name Yahweh Yireh. He uses it in connection with Abraham when Yahweh told him to sacrifice Isaac. At the last second, Yahweh stopper him:

“Then he [Abraham] reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son [Isaac]. But the Angel of Yahweh [Yahweh] called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!”

“Here I am,” he replied.

“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” He said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear Elohim, because you have not withheld from Me your son, your only son.”

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place Yahweh Yireh [Yahweh will see to it/take care of it/provide]. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of Yahweh it will be provided.”

The Angel of Yahweh [Yahweh] called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by Myself, declares Yahweh, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed Me.” (Genesis 22: 10-18)

This is Where it Happened

The area circled in red in the picture below is where that exchange between Yahweh and Abraham took place. It’s the same place where Jacob had a dream about a ladder from heaven with Yahweh standing at the top and angels ascending and descending. It’s the same place where King Solomon built Yahweh’s Temple.

See “Yahweh’s Temple was not on the Temple Mount (Part 1)” and “The Pope and Me: A True Story” for more details about that location.  It’s important.

The video below is a flyover of the Old City of Jerusalem.  Part of it is a flyover of the City of David.

“I pray…that they may all be one, even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one. I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 21-24)
