April 29, 2021 SnyderTalk—Yahweh Commanded Us to Call Him by His Name

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Yahweh Commanded Us to Call Him by His Name

His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition is a book that every believer should read. I’m not saying that because I wrote it. I’m saying it because I know what’s in it, and I know that what’s in it is true.

Some people have told me that they don’t need any book other than the Bible. I say, “That’s fine. His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition is based entirely on Scripture.”

Below are a few verses of Scripture that tell an interesting story when they are connected.

Genesis 12: 1-3

Now Yahweh said to Abram, “Go from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Yahweh said, “Go,” and Abraham went. That was a act of faith and obedience.

Yahweh made His promises to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob. The Messiah came through that line. He was from the tribe of Judah. He was a Jew.

Genesis 12: 7-8

And Yahweh appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So, he built an altar there to Yahweh who had appeared to him. Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to Yahweh and called upon the Name of Yahweh.

Yahweh appeared to Abram (Abraham) in human form. That’s not the only time Yahweh appeared to him in human form, and He appeared to many others in human form, too.

Abraham called on the Name of Yahweh. That’s exactly what Yahweh told all of us to do. No matter what anyone tells you, not saying Yahweh’s Name is a serious mistake, and it is sinful because Yahweh told us to call Him by His Name. It’s sinful not honor His commands.

See my companion website “His Name is Yahweh“.

Exodus 3: 14-15

“This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you’….This is what you shall say to the sons of Israel: ‘Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, the Elohim of Abraham, the Elohim of Isaac, and the Elohim of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is My Name forever, and this [Yahweh] is the Name for all generations to use to call upon Me.”

Calling on Yahweh by Name is not a request. It’s a command. There is a huge difference between a request and a command. Yahweh did not ask us to call Him by His Name. He told us to do it.

Jeremiah 23: 5-6

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will live securely. This is His Name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh Our Righteousness.’”

The Messiah is David’s righteous Branch, and His Name is Yahweh. He is our righteousness.

John 8: 24

“Therefore, I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”

That’s the Messiah speaking. He said that unless we believe He is Yahweh (I AM), we will die in our sins. Therefore, believing He is Yahweh and calling Him by His Name are very important.

To die in your sins means to die without being saved. The Messiah said that, not me. It’s serious, and He wouldn’t have said it unless He meant it.

I hope you realize how important this message is.

Jeremiah 4: 22

“For My people are foolish. They do not know Me. They are foolish children and have no understanding. They are skillful at doing evil, but they do not know how to do good.”

A lot of people refuse to obey Yahweh. According to Him they are foolish, and they lack understanding. If calling on Yahweh by Name were not important, He would not have commanded us to call on Him by Name.

Matthew 23: 37-39

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Behold, your house is being left to you desolate! For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of Yahweh!’”

That’s the Messiah speaking again. In those verses, He told us when He will return. He didn’t tell us the day or the hour, but He told us what will happen before He returns. He will return when Jerusalem calls on Him using the Name of Yahweh.

I spend a lot of time in Jerusalem, and I call on Yahweh by Name in Jerusalem all the time. Therefore, He is not talking about me. He is talking about the people of Jerusalem, and I think He is referring specifically to the Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem. They must call on Yahweh by Name and understand who they are calling on.

That will be difficult for most of them, because they have been vilifying and slandering Him for about 2,000 years. But it will happen. Yahweh will make sure that it happens.

The conditions that will cause the Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem to call on Yahweh by Name (not Adonai, not Elohim, and not Hashem) and know who they are calling on will be dire indeed. They will have to believe that all hope is lost and that they have no other choice.

It hurts me to say that, but it’s true. I think I will be in Jerusalem just before it happens.

Isaiah 53: 4-5

However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore and our pains that He carried, but we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, struck down by Elohim, and humiliated. He was pierced for our offenses. He was crushed for our wrongdoings. The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.

The Messiah paid the price for the sins we committed so that we can become children of Yahweh.

Isaiah 53: 7-8

He was oppressed and afflicted. Yet He did not open His mouth. Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, He did not open His mouth. By oppression and judgment, He was taken away, and as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off from the land of the living for the wrongdoing of My people, to whom the blow was due?

The Messiah, Yahweh, is our Passover Lamb.

Zechariah 12: 10

“And I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and of pleading, so that they will look at Me whom they pierced; and they will mourn for Him, like one mourning for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn.”

The Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem will see Yahweh in Person and realize that their forefathers were complicit in His murder. They thought they were getting rid of Him, but their treachery helped Him complete His mission.

The shedding of His innocent blood was the price Yahweh required for our salvation, and He paid the price we owed in full. He is our Redeemer. When Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem accept the truth about what happened, they will cry like babies.

Philippian 2: 9-11

For this reason also Elohim highly exalted Him [the Messiah], and bestowed on Him the Name which is above every name [Yahweh], so that at the Name of Yeshua [Yahweh] every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth, and that every tongue will confess that Yeshua the Messiah is Yahweh, to the glory of Elohim the Father.

The Messiah is Yahweh.

Joel 2: 32, Acts 2: 21, and Romans 10: 13

“And it will come about that everyone who calls on the Name of Yahweh will be saved [delivered].”

Yahweh is the Name in which we have salvation, and there is no other name.

Acts 4: 12

“And there is salvation in no one else. For there is no other name under heaven that has been given among man by which we must be saved.”

That is Peter talking. He is saying that Yahweh is the Name by which we are saved. It’s the same thing he said in Acts 2: 21. He is not talking about the name Jesus. This is not a semantic issue. It’s a right vs. wrong issue.

Isaiah 43: 11

“I, even I, am Yahweh. There is no savior besides Me.”

Yahweh made it clear from the beginning. He is our only Savior. He came to die for our sins. The Jewish religious leaders in Jerusalem hated Him for telling them the truth about Himself and about themselves. See Matthew 23 and John 8.

Jeremiah 16: 21

“Therefore behold, I am going to make them know — this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they will know that My Name is Yahweh.”

Yahweh is serious about His Name. He’s much more serious than people who claim to be “preachers of His word” but refuse to obey Him. Tradition is an unacceptable substitute for Yahweh’s word. Yahweh’s people know that.

Again, you should read His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition. It lays out the facts from the Scriptures. It is not my opinion.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”
