The Heavens Declare the Glory of Elohim
Psalm 19 begins with this verse:
The heavens declare the glory of Elohim; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. (Psalm 19:1)
I want to put that into perspective. The video below shows the relative sizes of our sun, Earth, and our moon. It also shows their relative distances from each other.
Our sun is not particularly large as stars go. For example, Betelgeuse, a star in our galaxy, the Milky Way, is 1,400 times larger than our sun in the millimeter continuum.
Our Milky Way contains 100 billion to 400 billion stars and is about 100,000 light-years across, but it is not a particularly large galaxy. Galaxies M100, M 87, NGC 4921 and Hercules A make our Milky Way look like a runt.
The Hubble space telescope started taking pictures in 1990. The eXtreme Deep Field research that scientists did using Hubble revealed that our universe contains between 100 billion and 200 billion galaxies.
The Webb space telescope started releasing pictures on July 11, 2022, just over a month ago. It peered 13.7 billion years back in time and revealed that there are 10 times more galaxies in our universe than scientists had believed.
Humans are like specs of dust on Earth. Earth is tiny compared to our sun. Our sun is a dwarf compared with other stars in our galaxy. Our galaxy is puny compared with other galaxies in our universe.
We have no idea how many galaxies there are in our universe. Each new advance in space telescope technology reveals that there are many times more galaxies in our universe than we thought.
As insignificant as we humans are in the universe, Yahweh loves us, because we are unique. Yahweh created us in His image:
So, Elohim created man in His own image, in the image of Elohim He created him; male and female he created them. (Genesis 1:27)
Yahweh is our Creator. If we have faith in Him, obey Him, and follow the leading of His Spirit, we become part of His family. In the Bible, Yahweh refers to His family as “His bride.” Yahweh’s bride is one with Him the same way men and women become one in Yahweh’s eyes when they marry.
All we must do to become part of Yahweh’s family is admit that we are sinners, ask for forgiveness, repent, and ask Yahweh to save us. Yahweh takes care of the rest, because no one is capable doing it on his own.
Psalm 8 is a psalm of King David. It is also a messianic psalm:
O Yahweh, our Adonai, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth, who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength because of Your adversaries, to make the enemy and the revengeful cease.
When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; what is man that You take thought of him, and the Son of Man that You care for him?
Yet You have made Him a little lower than Elohim, and You crown Him with glory and majesty! You make Him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under His feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
O Yahweh, our Adonai, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth! (Psalm 8:1-9)
