Another Black Eye for the FBI and the DOJ

Michael Horowitz

Horowitz hits FBI ‘failures’ in Senate testimony after FISA court rebuke:

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz rebuked the FBI on Wednesday for “failures” during the initial phase of the Russia probe, in his second round of Senate testimony following his extensive report on the investigation’s origins and the process used to obtain a surveillance warrant for former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.

Horowitz had revealed that there were 17 inaccuracies and omissions in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant applications for Page, which included a doctored email and the failure to include exculpatory information about Page that may have impacted the court’s decision to grant the warrants.

SnyderTalk Comment:

DOJ IG Horowitz’s investigation was limited to the DOJ and people currently employed by the DOJ.  Even so, his findings revealed significant irregularities that went against President Trump every single time, 17 consecutive times to be exact.

The probability of that happening is miniscule.  Considering the fact that we know the FISA process was rigged, it’s safe to the say that the probability is zero.  People at the FBI and the DOJ lied, manufactured evidence, and withheld exculpatory evidence.  Those are serious crimes.  Higher-ups in both agencies placed their hands on the scales of justice to advance their political agendas.

Peter Strzok and Lisa Page are now going after the DOJ for abusing their rights.  Never mind the fact that they used their positions in the FBI to abuse the rights of many U.S. citizens including President Trump and to send some of them to prison on manufactured charges.

Peter Strzok

Strzok claims anti-Trump texts protected by 1st Amendment, administration violated his rights:

Former FBI agent Peter Strzok, who is suing the government in a bid for reinstatement, argued in a court filing in Washington, D.C., federal district court on Monday that his politically charged anti-Trump messages were protected by the First Amendment — even though he sent them on bureau-issued phones while playing leading roles in the probes into both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“Firing an employee for the content of his or her non-public communications is unconstitutional, irrespective of any balancing of interests” including damage to the FBI’s reputation and other factors, Strzok argued in his response brief, which also slammed Trump’s “unpresidential tweets.”

Because it was the DOJ that had leaked his anti-Trump text messages, Strzok argued, his texts should be considered private speech, and he should not be held to the tougher legal standard under the 1968 Supreme Court case Pickering v. Board of Education that applies to public statements by government employees.

SnyderTalk Comment:

Peter Strzok lacks common sense and a sense of decency.  He won’t be vindicated no matter how hard he tries.  He should be heading for prison.

Lisa Page

Lisa Page sues FBI and DOJ, citing ‘cost of therapy’ after Trump mocked her salacious text messages:

Former FBI lawyer Lisa Page is suing the FBI and Department of Justice, alleging that the government’s publication of her salacious text messages with anti-Trump ex-FBI agent Peter Strzok constituted a breach of the Federal Privacy Act.

In the complaint filed Tuesday, the 39-year-old Page said she suffered numerous damages because of the disclosure, including a “permanent loss of earning capacity due to reputational damage” and “the cost of therapy to cope with unwanted national media exposure and harassment” at the hands of President Trump.

Page’s complaint also sought reimbursement for “the cost of childcare during and transportation to multiple investigative reviews and appearances before Congress,” the “cost of paying a data-privacy service to protect her personal information,” and attorney’s fees.

On Dec. 12, 2017, Page said in the complaint, “DOJ and/or FBI officials disclosed” her sensitive text messages “directly to a select group of reporters to ensure they would become public.” Page alleged that after discovery, she would be able to prove that senior officials knew they were violating the law, and that their conduct was “willful and intentional.”

SnyderTalk Comment:

Lisa Page is guilty, too.  She should be in prison.  Maybe she can use her influence in the DOJ and arrange to share a cell with Peter Strzok.

James Comey

‘I Was Wrong’: Comey Admits to Fox News There Were ‘Significant Errors’ in FISA Process:

Former FBI Director James Comey admitted he was “wrong,” noting on Fox News Sunday that the recently released Justice Department inspector general’s report on the Russia probe launch did find “significant errors” in the FISA warrant applications related to a former Trump campaign aide.

Following the release of IG Michael Horowitz’s report on Monday, Comey has been doing a bit of a victory lap, pointing to the inspector general finding there was no political bias and the FBI had sufficient evidence and predicate to launch the Russia probe. Horowitz, however, told Congress last week that his report didn’t “vindicate anybody” associated with the investigation.

SnyderTalk Comment:

Comey wrote a book and went on a whirlwind tour of the country pimping it.  In the book, Comey presents himself as an angel from heaven sent to Earth to right the wrongs in Washington.  In Comey’s book, Donald Trump is the dark angel who opposes him.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Comey should be in prison along with Strzok and Page.

Justice Must Prevail

If it’s fair to send people to prison for lying to the FBI, it’s essential that we send FBI and DOJ people to prison for lying, manufacturing evidence, and withholding exculpatory evidence.  In fact, the penalty for their offenses should be doubled.

I didn’t discuss many people who were involved in illegalities.  Others like Andy McCabe should be in prison, too.

Malfeasance at the FBI and the DOJ can’t go unpunished.
