February 28, 2022 SnyderTalk—Putin’s Great Ukraine Misadventure

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Putin’s Great Ukraine Misadventure

Vladimir Putin may be the big kahuna in Russian politics, but he is not a gifted player on the world stage.

Before invading Ukraine, Putin used as his main pretense protecting ethnic Russians in 2 “breakaway regions”: Donetsk and Luhansk. That’s the same excuse Hitler used for his invasions of Czechoslovakia and Poland.

When the invasion started, Putin attacked Ukraine simultaneously from the north, east, and south. It was eerily similar to Hitler’s blitzkrieg tactics except for two things: Ukraine fought back hard and Western leaders stood firm. That tactic proved that Putin was lying from the get-go.

Finally, Putin put Russia’s military on nuclear high alert because sensible political leaders in the West were saying harsh things about him. That was borderline insane. It was the kind of thing Hitler would have done, and Hitler was insane.

World War II ended in 1945, but it has not been forgotten. Very few political players on the world stage are unfamiliar with Hitler’s deceptions. Choosing to follow Hitler’s game plan was a very poor decision on Putin’s part. He’s the President of Russia and he may be richest man in the world, but he’s not a terribly gifted politician.

The SWIFT ban will hurt Russia and the Russian people badly. SWIFT is a global banking network that handles trillions of dollars’ worth of payments every day. Because Russian banks won’t have access to SWIFT, banks globally will refuse to honor payments and transfers from Russia. In short order, Russia will be completely isolated economically, and Russian people will feel the pain.

The Russian people’s response to Putin’s great Ukraine misadventure is encouraging. They saw through his scam in an instant and started protesting. Vladimir Putin can expect some really bad days ahead at home as the sanctions kick in, especially the SWIFT ban. Nothing is out of the question.

Putin has good reasons to fear the wrath of the Russian people. He may even have a lot to fear from his political pals. They will suffer more than ordinary Russians.

Can Putin survive politically? I don’t think so. Can he save his own life? That’s questionable.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
