December 29, 2020 SnyderTalk—Yahweh Prepares the People He Chooses

“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

Yahweh Prepares the People He Chooses

People make a serious mistake when they try to invade Yahweh’s jurisdiction by judging others. The Messiah warned us not to do it:

1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.” (Matthew 7: 1-5)

Despite the Messiah’s warning, self-righteous Christians can’t resist the temptation to display their holier-than-thou attitudes. Don’t waste your time trying to talk with them about their problem. They won’t listen. They might accuse you of being judgmental for pointing out that they have a problem, because in their minds, they are the epitome of righteousness.

Their destiny is in Yahweh’s hands, not yours. Leave them alone, and focus on the things Yahweh is preparing you to do.

Isaiah

Isaiah was one of Yahweh’s prophets. He understood that no one is worthy. None of us are prepared to fulfill our destinies. Yahweh has to prepare us to do the jobs He created us to do, and He will do it if we will let Him.

Below is Isaiah chapter 6:

1 In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw Adonai sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. 2 Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

3 And one called out to another and said, “Holy, Holy, Holy, is Yahweh Sabaoth, the whole earth is full of His glory.”

4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. 5 Then I said, “Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh Sabaoth.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. 7 He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.”

8 Then I heard the voice of Adonai, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

9 He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on listening, but do not perceive; keep on looking, but do not understand.’ 10 Render the hearts of this people insensitive, their ears dull, and their eyes dim, otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and return and be healed.”

11 Then I said, “Adonai, how long?”

And He answered, “Until cities are devastated and without inhabitant, houses are without people and the land is utterly desolate. 12 Yahweh has removed men far away, and the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land. 13 Yet there will be a tenth portion in it, and it will again be subject to burning, like a terebinth or an oak whose stump remains when it is felled. The holy seed is its stump.” (Isaiah 6: 1-13)

When Isaiah saw Yahweh, this is all he could say:

“Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh Sabaoth.”

Isaiah understood that he was a wretched human being and that he lived among other wretched humans. Even so, when Yahweh asked, “Whom shall I send?”, Isaiah said, “Send me!” That’s exactly what Yahweh did.

Yahweh doesn’t choose people who are prepared, because no one is prepared. He prepares the people He chooses. All we have to do is have faith in Him and follow the leading of His Spirit. It’s as simple as that. Don’t try to make it more complicated than it is.

Yahweh chooses to use self-righteous people, too. Paul is a perfect example. He was a self-righteous hypocrite when Yahweh chose him. Paul participated in Stephen’s murder, and he was on his way to Damascus to arrest the Jewish believers in that city when Yahweh confronted him. Paul planned to take them back to Jerusalem, so they could stand trial before the Sanhedrin.

After Yahweh confronted Paul, He ordered him to go to Mount Sinai. It’s in Saudi Arabia today. Keep in mind that Yahweh sent Elijah to Mount Sinai for the same reason after his confrontation with the prophets of Ba’al on Mount Carmel.

It took Paul about 3 years to overcome his self-righteous, holier-than-thou attitude. I don’t know how long it took Elijah. Neither of them could represent Yahweh correctly until they jettisoned that baggage. For many reasons known only to Yahweh, Mount Sinai is a special place.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”
