The Algemeiner—Pope Francis the Politician Meets Mahmoud Abbas:

After the six resolutions that the United Nations voted on this past Friday against Israel — approved by 156 countries — that once again overwhelmingly denied Israel’s sovereignty over and the Jews’ historical relationship with Jerusalem, came Pope Francis’ meeting with Palestinian Authority (PA) leader Mahmoud Abbas in Rome on Monday.

There, with all due respect, the Pope acted like a typical politician. The Pope’s approach to the Middle East is deprived of a sense of responsibility towards history; instead, he related only to the immediate consensus — the anti-Israel narrative, and paying homage to the so-called “Palestinian cause.”

Wouldn’t it have been better for him to veer towards a path as magnificent and historic as Pope John XXIII’s ban on antisemitism, or Pope John Paul II’s visit to the Western Wall, with his subsequent recognition of the State of Israel? Why not, on this occasion, didn’t he ask Abbas to embark on a real move towards reconciliation by recognizing the right of Jews to their state and their millennial capital?

In his meeting with Abbas, Pope Francis aligned himself, according to the Holy See press releases that were issued afterwards, with positions that have led nowhere but delegitimizing Israel. In the face of the immense changes assailing the Middle East, we should have expected something different. What does “reactivating the peace process” truly mean? Who’s going to reactivate it? To accomplish that, Abbas should at least explain why he has refused to engage in peace talks for years. Moreover, he should abandon the fierce, defamatory, and delegitimizing incitement that denies Israel’s very existence, along with his absurd accusations that Israel is engaging in ethnic cleansing and an apartheid state.

The obstacles to peace are Abbas’ refusals, his exaltation of terrorism, and his determination to continue to provide salaries to imprisoned terrorists and the families of dead ones.

Pope Francis expressed his hope for a two-state solution. But would it not be better to recognize that today those states would have to be three, given the fact that the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza arguably hate each other more than they hate Israel?

SnyderTalk Comment:

Yahweh is not a politician.  Pope Francis is.

Yahweh is not a terrorist, either.  Mahmoud Abbas is.

Politicians look for common denominators, middle ground.  On the human level, that’s viewed positively.  It’s called “statesmanship”.  On the spiritual level, it’s called “betrayal” especially if your claim to fame is that you are supposedly Yahweh’s man on Earth.

Mahmoud Abbas’ goals are to kill, steal, and destroy.  That’s not what Yahweh is about.  He wants to save and deliver His people, and that’s exactly what He will do in the sight of the nations.

Israel is not just another country.  Yahweh made promises to Abraham about Israel the people and Israel the land, and He extended those promises to Isaac and Jacob/Israel.

The Children of Israel (Jacob’s descendants) includes Judah, but Judah is only 1 of 12 tribes of Israel and Joseph got a double portion.  Judah will control Judea.  The other Children of Israel will control the rest of the Promised Land.

This can be Confusing, so Bear with Me

Pope Francis and Mahmoud Abbas are talking about Jewish people in the Land of Israel today.  That’s problematic.  Here’s why:

  1. The Land of Israel today is much smaller than the Land of Israel that Yahweh promised to Abraham. See His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition.
  2. Many of the so-called “Jewish people” in Israel today aren’t really Jews. Real Jews are direct descendants of Judah.  Thanks to Halacha (the Oral Law or the traditions of the Jews), people are considered Jewish if they convert to Judaism.  Yahweh didn’t say that, and He never endorsed that point of view.  Stated succinctly, Halacha is man-made religion.  It did not come from Yahweh.  See The Trilogy.
  3. Francis and Abbas don’t recognize the claims of the other descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob/Israel (the other Children of Israel) who have legitimate rights in the Promised Land. For that matter, neither does the government of Israel.  That’s a serious problem since Yahweh recognizes their rights.  (See Ezekiel 37)  This subject is confusing because most people (Jews and Christians) are ignorant about Yahweh’s promises.

Yahweh’s Promises

Yahweh’s promises will not fail.  He keeps His word.  To do otherwise would profane His Name.

Yahweh will never renege on His promises.  You can count on it.

In the difficult days ahead, pay attention to what Yahweh said, because He spoke the truth.  He didn’t mince words.  Again, Yahweh is not a politician, and He’s not looking for a common denominator or middle ground that will please the masses.

Yahweh is Sovereign.  What He says goes.  Faith in Him is essential.

People like Francis and Abbas are here today and gone tomorrow.  Yahweh is eternal.

The Messiah

The Messiah is Yahweh.  This is how Yahweh explained it to Jeremiah:

“The days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch.  He will reign as King and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved and Israel will dwell securely.  This is His Name by which He will be called: Yahweh Our Righteousness.” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)

This is how the Messiah explained it:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham existed, I AM.” (John 8: 58)

If this confuses you, remember what King Solomon said:

“Trust in Yahweh with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3: 5-6)

Pope Francis and Mahmoud Abbas

Pope Francis doesn’t represent Yahweh.  Neither does Mahmoud Abbas.  They are just flapping their gums.  They will melt in Yahweh’s Presence.
