Ryan Grim and Sam Stein—The GOP Establishment Has Found The One Thing That Can Make Donald Trump Palatable: Ted Cruz:

Ted Cruz may wind up becoming Donald Trump’s greatest weapon.

The Republican establishment has spent the last few months warning that the rise of Trump’s presidential candidacy represented a grave threat, not just to the party, but to the country itself. That may still be the case. But in recent weeks, the GOP brass has come face to face with the one man who could make Trump begin to appear appealing: Ted Cruz.

“Cruz has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way in D.C., whereas Trump hasn’t, and Trump up until this year was pretty much a player,” said Craig Shirley, a longtime GOP strategist and charter member of the establishment. “Ultimately, the Washington establishment deep down — although they find Trump tacky or distasteful — they think that they ultimately can work with him. Deep down, a lot of people think it is an act.”

There is ample reason for Republican insiders to feel more affinity to the real estate mogul than to the brash Texas tea party senator. As Shirley noted, Washington has spent decades doing business with Trump, if not personally begging him for checks.

But, mainly, the reason that Republican leaders are moving toward Trump has nothing to do with him. They viscerally, unashamedly loathe Cruz.

SnyderTalk Comment: The more I learn about Ted Cruz, the more I like him.  The fact that he stood up against GOP leaders in the Senate is a real plus in my book.  His strong support for Israel is another.

He has a nonpolitician approach, but he has substantial political experience.  He’s a rare breed.

Cruz is smart, articulate, and experienced.  He would make a great president.

What a refreshing change Cruz would be after 8 long years of a certifiable imbecile in the Oval Office.  Honestly, I find it hard to believe that we elected Obama and that seemingly intelligent people try to defend him.

Something peculiar is happening.  It’s like the 9th planet that probably lurks out there beyond the Kuiper belt.  It’s 10 times larger than earth and has a 10,000 to 20,000 year orbit around the sun.  We can’t see it, but scientists are beginning to believe it’s there because of the effect it has on other objects.

Unbelievers don’t have any idea what I’m talking about.  Believers do.

This is not a tangential statement, but it may appear to be: people who think they know exactly what Yahweh is going to do should be very careful.  Stick to what you know.  If you make a guess, tell people you are guessing.

SnyderTalk Comment: Today’s anti-Israel movement (BDS) is the contemporary politically correct version of anti-Semitism of bygone eras.  Don’t buy into it.  It’s dangerous because it flies in the face of Promises that Yahweh made to and about the Promised Land.

I can’t stress that point too much.  People who take sides against Yahweh will suffer the consequences.

This isn’t a video game that you can lose and live to play again and again.  Some people will suffer the ultimate penalty for it.  In other words, they may not get a second chance.

I’m not exaggerating for effect.  It’s impossible to be a true believer, a person of faith, if you reject Yahweh’s promises.  It just can’t happen.  We don’t have the right to pick and choose which promises we will believe as though Yahweh gave us a smorgasbord of options and said, “Here, you decide.”

I like this verse in connection with that statement: “But I will warn you whom to fear: fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!” (Luke 12: 5)

That’s the Messiah speaking.  He is Yahweh.

Again, don’t buy into BDS.

Jennifer Rubin—Why it’s correct to label the Obama administration ‘anti-Israel’: If this president’s frosty relationship with Israel’s elected government, disregard of its interests with regard to Iran, public excoriation over building plans in its capital Jerusalem, condemnation of its defense in the Gaza war (which inevitably harmed civilians used as terrorist shields) and high-pressure tactics in the moribund “peace process” were not enough to convince you that this administration is the most anti-Israel in history, consider its actions this week.

SnyderTalk Comment: Like it or not, the truth is what it is.  Obama is the most anti-Israel president we have ever had.  Why he continues to enjoy any Jewish support in the U.S. baffles me.

Peculiar things are happening.  In the end, no one will have an excuse.

Washington PostThe Islamic State holds about 3,500 slaves in Iraq, U.N. says: The United Nations released a report this week detailing the “staggering civilian death toll in Iraq” over the past two years. It found that nearly 19,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed since the Islamic State’s insurgency flared at the beginning of 2014, while some 3.2 million Iraqis have been displaced. The report also estimated that some 3,500 Iraqis continue to be held captive as the jihadists’ “slaves,” including many women and girls from the persecuted Yazidi sect who have been abducted and forced into sexual slavery.

SnyderTalk Comment: Where are the “women’s rights” advocates?  Where is the NAACP?  Their silence is deafening.

Are they trying to communicate a message?  Are we simply not hearing it?

Here is a factoid for you: Islam’s biggest gains in the U.S. are in the African American community.  I have a hunch that the Democrat Party leanings of key players prevent them from doing their jobs. If any group in our country should be offended by slavery, the NAACP should be.

That’s called hypocrisy.

Washington PostRefugees in one of Britain’s poorest towns say the red doors on their housing makes them targets: If you’re ever in Middlesbrough, a working-class town of less than 200,000 people in northeast England, it’s not too hard to work out where the local asylum seekers live. You just need to look for the red doors. Yes, for reasons hard to explain, many vulnerable refugee families have been housed in buildings with red doors in Middlesbrough. As the Times of London put it, it’s a “secret apartheid policy” that an unnamed former member of Parliament from the area compared “to the yellow stars that Jews were forced to wear in Nazi Germany.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Also, see “In an effort to limit migrant influence, a Danish city wants its residents to eat pork”.

Europe’s problems are just beginning to emerge.  Just wait until the Brown Shirts show up.

I’m kidding about the Brown Shirts.  I mean something like the Brown Shirts.

Keep this in mind: times like these spawned Hitler’s rise to power in Germany.  Conditions today aren’t identical to conditions in that era, but they’re getting closer every day.

AlgemeinerBritish Police Officers Descend on London Campus Event to Protect Speaker, Audience From Violent Anti-Israel Activists (VIDEO)— British police were called to the scene of an eruption of anti-Israel violence on the campus of Kings College London (KCL) on Tuesday evening, witnesses reported. Chanting “Free Palestine,” “Viva Viva Palestina” and “From the River to the Sea Palestine will be free,” angry demonstrators smashed a window of a room at the London university where an event hosting a former Israeli security official was being held. The event, which was co-organized by the KCL and London School of Economics Israel Societies, was a lecture by former Shin Bet chief, Israeli Labor Party member and peace activist Ami Ayalon.

RTDutch reporters brutally attacked at Calais migrant camp (VIDEO): Dutch reporters have published a video, which shows them being attacked by migrants in the Calais Jungle camp with one of the attackers wielding a knife.

SnyderTalk Comment: European political leaders should bone up on the Trojan Horse.  It will help them understand what they have done.

Jennifer Rubin—John Kerry’s Meaningless Anger Toward Iran Should Anger Americans: When many Americans reacted with outrage at the sight of our Navy sailors on their knees after being detained by Iran, and then more so, after video of one sailor compelled to apologize on camera, the Obama administration’s outward reaction was blasé. Indeed, Secretary of State John F. Kerry boasted upon the sailors’ return that this is what comes from our new diplomatic relationship with Iran. He even thanked the mullahs for returning our sailors. It turns out Kerry was steamed. Oh, yes indeed. “I was very angry. I was very frustrated and angry that that was released,” he now says about the Iran photos and video. “I raised it immediately with the Iranians.” You’d never know it from the continued concessions that followed.

Stephen M. Flatow—Another Proud Palestinian Parent: I am proud of my son,” the father of 16-year-old Morad Adais, of the Palestinian village of Dura, declared this week. What do you suppose was the occasion for this burst of parental pride? What was it that young Morad did which so pleased his father? An impressive report card? Helping with home repairs? Taking care of younger siblings? No, what Morad did to bring honor to the Adais family was that he broke into the home of a young Israeli Jewish mother of six and brutally stabbed her to death.

Washington PostPutin implicated in fatal poisoning of former KGB spy at posh London hotel: Russian President Vladimir Putin was likely personally responsible for approving the fatal poisoning at a posh London hotel of a former KGB operative-turned-U.K. intelligence agent, according to the findings of a highly anticipated British inquiry released Thursday. The conclusion, which comes nearly a decade after Alexander Litvinenko succumbed to the effects of polonium slipped into a cup of green tea at London’s Millennium Hotel, is sure to raise tensions between London and Moscow. It comes at a sensitive time, as the West seeks Russian cooperation in ending the Syrian war.

Washington PostRussia displays naval might off Syria’s Mediterranean coast: A Russian navy missile cruiser is on duty off Syria’s coast to help protect a Russian air base with an array of long-range missile systems.

SnyderTalk Comment: See “Insight: Russian bombs take toll in Syria as Islamic State under pressure”.

While Obama talks, Putin acts.  It’s no wonder he is expanding Russian influence in the Middle East.  Obama is an unreliable ally.  Putin isn’t.

I have serious problems with Putin, but I can appreciate why political leaders in Middle Eastern countries like him.

InquirerTurkey jails woman for ‘obscene hand gesture to Erdogan’: Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits the site of Tuesday’s explosion, in the historic Sultanahmet district in Istanbul, Friday, Jan. 15, 2016.

SnyderTalk Comment: Erdogan is looking more like Adolf Hitler every day. He has really thin skin. He must be pathologically insecure.

NBC News—Taliban Claims Responsibility for Targeting Tolo TV Workers: The Taliban says it was behind a bomb attack targeting TV station workers that left seven people dead in the Afghan capital, months after promising to exact revenge for what it said was false and unfair reporting.

RudawISIS destroys 1400-year-old Mosul monastery: In its latest assault on Iraq’s cultural and religious heritage the Islamic State (ISIS) has demolished the country’s oldest Christian monastery. AP has confirmed that the 1,400-year-old St. Elijah’s Monastery of Mosul has been completely destroyed by the group.

SnyderTalk Comment: There is no room for compromise with Islamists.  This is war.  They must be defeated unconditionally.  If they won’t surrender, they must pay the price.

I say that knowing full well that ISIS has infiltrated the U.S. and Europe.  We need leaders who are willing to say what must be said and to do what must be done.  The consequence of not doing it will be horrific.

Pretending that ISIS isn’t Islamic is ludicrous and counterproductive.  This is a religious war.  They declared it and are waging it, but we are sitting on our hands.

It’s time for a change.

ReutersIsrael confirms it plans to seize West Bank land: The appropriation, first reported by Israel’s Army Radio, covers 154 hectares (380 acres) in the Jordan Valley close to Jericho, an area where Israel already has many settlement farms built on land Palestinians seek for a state.

Ynet NewsGoodbye Iran, hello Israel? Sudan changes its approach: While Jerusalem and Khartoum are a long way from normalized relations, the last few months have seen Sudan edge closer to the moderate Sunni camp while speaking openly about improved ties with Israel.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
