August 23, 2015 SnyderTalk—France train shooting: French President Francois Hollande thanks American ‘heroes’ who overpowered gunman

1--Intro Covering Israel and ME

“For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My Name will be great among the Gentiles, and in every place incense is going to be offered to My Name, and a grain offering that is pure; for My Name will be great among the Gentiles,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. (Malachi 1: 11)

BBC— France train shooting: French President Francois Hollande thanks American ‘heroes’ who overpowered gunman:

The incident happened on the high-speed Thalys service near Arras on Friday. A 26-year-old Moroccan man was arrested.

One of the Americans said they took an AK-47 assault rifle and a handgun from the attacker as they saw him walk down the aisle of the train.

One of the Americans and another passenger were seriously hurt.

In a press conference on Saturday, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the suspect’s identity had yet to be confirmed, but it was believed that he had radical Islamist beliefs.

‘Chokehold’

Two of the American men who overpowered the gunman, Spencer Stone and Alek Skarlatos, are members of the Air Force and the National Guard respectively.

They were travelling on the train from Amsterdam to Paris on Friday evening with a childhood friend, Anthony Sadler, who also helped restrain the attacker.

When a French passenger tried to enter a toilet on the train, he encountered the gunman, tried to overpower him and the gun was then fired, Mr Cazeneuve said.

A French-American passenger was injured by the bullet, and the American passengers intervened shortly afterward, he said.

[…]

“I grabbed the handgun, got that away from the guy and threw it. Then I grabbed the AK-47, which was at his feet, and started muzzle-bumping him in the head with it.”

“Everybody just started beating the guy while Spencer held the chokehold until he went unconscious.”

When he checked the AK-47, Mr Skarlotos said it had jammed and would not have been able to fire. The cartridge for the handgun had also been dropped, he said.

French authorities said three people were injured, two of them seriously – one with a gunshot wound, the other a knife wound.

SnyderTalk Comment: Unbelievers are not going to understand this comment especially in connection with this news item.  Believers should have no trouble grasping my point.  Actually, it’s not my point.  It’s Yahweh’s:

10  And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 Yeshua answered them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables; because while seeing they do not see, and while hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.”

14 “In their case the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

‘YOU WILL KEEP ON HEARING, BUT WILL NOT UNDERSTAND; YOU WILL KEEP ON SEEING, BUT WILL NOT PERCEIVE; 15 FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.’

16“But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 17 For truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.” (Matthew 13: 14-17)

Thanks to technology, right now we are witnessing things all over the world that people have longed to see for thousands of years.  Much more is heading our way, but most people don’t have any idea what’s happening.

In a broad sense, that’s what Paul was talking about when he said,

27 Isaiah cries out concerning Israel, “THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE SONS OF ISRAEL BE LIKE THE SAND OF THE SEA, IT IS THE REMNANT THAT WILL BE SAVED; 28 FOR YAHWEH WILL EXECUTE HIS WORD ON THE EARTH, THOROUGHLY AND QUICKLY.”

29 And just as Isaiah foretold, “UNLESS YAHWEH SABAOTH HAD LEFT TO US A POSTERITY, WE WOULD HAVE BECOME LIKE SODOM, AND WOULD HAVE RESEMBLED GOMORRAH.”

30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, attained righteousness, even the righteousness which is by faith; 31 but Israel, pursuing a law of righteousness, did not arrive at that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as though it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33 just as it is written, “BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A STONE OF STUMBLING AND A ROCK OF OFFENSE, AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.” (Romans 9:27-33)

Concerning that “stumbling stone”, the Messiah said, “Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust.” (Luke 20: 18)

The Messiah is the Stumbling Stone.  Either we will fall on Him and be broken, or He will fall on us and we will be crushed and scattered to the wind.

See “France train shooting: Police question suspect”:

French police are questioning Ayoub El-Kahzzani, a 25-year-old Moroccan accused of carrying out Friday’s attempted attack on a high-speed Thalys train between Amsterdam and Paris.

The suspect, who was restrained and held on the floor by passengers, is said to have links to the “radical Islamist movement”.

He can be held for four days without being charged.

Security measures aboard Thalys trains have been stepped up.

After a meeting of its national security council on Saturday, Belgium said mixed Franco-Belgian security patrols would be increased on board the Thalys trains, which link major cities in the Netherlands and Belgium to Paris.

Patrols and security checks will also be boosted at international train stations, and more baggage checks will be carried out.

See “Suspected Train Attacker Ayoub El Khazzani Probed for Links to ‘Broader Framework’”:

Authorities were investigating on Sunday whether the heavily-armed gunman thwarted in the midst of an apparent terror attack on a Amsterdam-Paris train was acting alone, or whether “a wider framework” was involved.

Belgium’s chief prosecutor Eric Van Sypt told NBC News that the suspected attacker was 26-year-old Moroccan Ayoub El Khazzani, who had lived in Europe for several years and recently spent time in Brussels.

Van Sypt said it was not yet known if El Khazzani had an accomplice or was acting alone, and authorities in Belgium were probing “if there is possibly a wider framework involved.”

Van Sypt said Belgium had opened a judicial investigation because El Khazzani boarded the train in Brussels and had recently lived in the city for a brief period.

Europe’s problems with Islamists are just beginning.  For decades, European countries have opened their doors to those who want to destroy them.  Immigrants from Muslim countries, most of them illegal, are flocking to Europe right now.  European authorities are ill-equipped and ill-prepared to handle what is coming their way.

The United States is not far behind Europe.  It won’t be long before we see more of the same kinds of problems in this country that European countries are facing today.

Jewish people in particular need to be alert because they will be targets.  As I said, Europe is a harbinger of things to come in the U.S.

Steve Apfel: One industry that will never boycott Israel— The boycott movement’s plan to isolate Israel may flounder or prosper. Call that a truism. Whether boycotters prosper, depends on a certain industry not joining the boycott. Call that a paradox. The harder this non-boycotting industry works, the better for the boycott movement. Likely or not, call that a proposition. Could it be a valid one?  What business could possibly support BDS by doing a brisk trade with the pariah Israel? The human rights business could. As to human rights being a business, merely look at the sustainability factors in favor of the participants: heaps of capital, free, on demand; global reach, well-connected stakeholders, media channels beating a path to the door, and a product for which the world has a gluttonous appetite. If those are not conditions in favor of big business what other conditions are there?

SnyderTalk Comment: See “Amnesty’s Own Research in Gaza is Just as Bad as Their Sources”.

Soeren Kern—Is Spain Fueling the BDS War Against Israel?:

  • Spain’s center-right government under Mariano Rajoy continues to pursue policies that are antagonistic towards Israel — policies that are virtually unchanged from the government of former Socialist Prime Minister of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero — policies that largely coincide with the objectives of the BDS movement.
  • Although Spain’s Foreign Minister has repeatedly said that the government does not support a boycott against Israel, under his watch the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Foreign Ministry’s primary aid-giving agency, has continued to subsidize organizations that work to delegitimize Israel.
  • Between 2009 and 2011, the Zapatero government funneled more than €15 million of Spanish taxpayer funds to Palestinian and Spanish non-governmental organizations that are among the leaders in campaigns aimed at delegitimizing Israel via BDS, lawfare and other forms of demonization, according to a comprehensive analysis published by the Jerusalem-based NGO Monitor.
  • The Rajoy government continues to fund NGOs that are involved in anti-Israel activities.
  • According to the Official Gazette of the Spanish State, for example, NOVA-Centre per la Innovació Social, a Barcelona-based NGO with a history of anti-Israel activism, is slated to receive more than €200,000 in 2015… AECID awarded €200,000 in 2014 to the Catalan Association for Peace, a group that has co-organized a three-year project to “raise awareness” for the BDS movement against Israel.
  • “The EU calls our ambassadors in because of the construction of a few houses? When did the EU call in the Palestinian ambassadors about incitement that calls for Israel’s destruction?… They don’t tell the Palestinians that they have to make their peace with a nation-state for the Jewish people. They just give the Palestinians a nation-state.” — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
  • Meanwhile, Spanish BDS activists continue their efforts to prevent Israeli artists from performing at Spanish music festivals, and vice versa.

Caroline Glick: The power of Jewish indignation— Perhaps we should thank Spain’s Rotodom Sunsplash reggae festival organizers. They just provided us with a textbook case both of the nature of today’s anti-Semitism and of how to defeat it. Last weekend, the festival organizers canceled their invitation to Matisyahu, the American-Jewish reggae artist, because he refused to bow to the organizers’ demand that he publicly support “Palestine.” Matisyahu was the only known Jew in the festival line-up and the only performer asked to produce such a statement. Rather than take this lying down, on Monday Matisyahu recounted the episode on his Facebook page, writing, “It was appalling and offensive that as the one publicly Jewish-American artist scheduled for the festival they were trying to coerce me into political statements.”

Nadav Shragai: The fuel feeding the flame—Operating in Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, and now in Malaysia, Hamas recruits terrorists, smuggles money and plans attacks in Israel from a distance.  A wave of unprecedented incitement is creating a highly combustible situation. The combustible materials are already here, among us, flammable as ever. The long hunger strike by Palestinian prisoner Mohammad Allan threatens to give the Palestinians another hero in the continuing list of martyrs he is seeking to sanctify. The calls to avenge the deaths of the Dawabsha family, who were burned alive in the village of Duma, apparently by Jewish terrorists, and also the considerable funds funneled to Hamas from abroad to perpetrate terror, are the fuel being poured on to the fire. In the past year alone, some 5 million shekels ($1.3 million) were caught, while the big money, originating in Qatar, Turkey and Islamic charity groups in Europe, is escaping Israel’s reach. This money arrives at its destination through bank transfers, sometimes with the simple push of a keyboard button, and defense officials believe that some of it finds its way to Hamas’ military wing.

Algemeiner Staff: ‘Moderate’ Iranian President Rouhani Accuses Israel of Killing and Raping Women and Children—Iranian President Hassan Rouhani commemorated the anniversary of a fire at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Aug. 21, 1969, by accusing Israel of continuing to “murder and rape innocent women and children” and threatening Islamic holy sites, Iran’s Mehr News Agencyreported on Thursday. Addressing the opening ceremony at a conference marking the anniversary of the 1969 fire at the mosque, which was started by a deranged Australian Christian purportedly to expedite the reestablishment of the Jewish temple, declaredly “moderate” Rouhani said the fire showed Israel had “no respect” either for the Al-Aqsa Mosque, considered Islam’s third holiest site, as well as “land that is completely respected by other religions as well.” Rouhani made his Israel-bashing comments in front several foreign ambassadors to Tehran, who were taking part in the World Mosque Day ceremony.

SnyderTalk Comment: Rouhani may be a moderate in Iran, but that’s relative.  I suspect that he is moderately insane when compared with other Iranian leaders.

That said, if you are as far out on the insane scale as Iranian leaders are, words like “moderate” have no practical value.  There is a point on that scale beyond which perceived differences are essentially meaningless.

Some will argue that Iranian leaders are saner than Obama and Kerry.  We know that’s true because the Iranians got exactly what they wanted in the nuclear deal.

I don’t dispute that assessment.  Maybe I should have used the word “diabolical” instead of “insane”.

That raises this question in my mind: how evil are Obama and Kerry?

PressTV: Iran to launch massive missile maneuver soon: IRGC commander—On Friday, Commander of the Aerospace Division of the IRGC Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh said that Iran has never suspended its ballistic missile programs, adding that a massive missile maneuver will be held in the near future to show Iran’s military power to enemies. The senior military official further rejected claims that the IRGC has called off its ballistic missile program and drills or bargained over such issues, saying the defense development remains on the agenda of the forces, and that the IRGC’s missile maneuvers have continued and will continue as planned. The Islamic Republic will press ahead with its missile program and has clinched important victories in this field over the past two years, he stressed. During nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the P5+1 group of countries – the US, Britain, Russia, China, France and Germany – the six states exerted pressure on Iran over its military capabilities. Iran, however, said it would only discuss its nuclear program and that its missiles are solely used as a deterrent against any potential foreign aggression.

The National Interest: Off-Target: The Folly of Removing Sanctions on Iran’s Ballistic Missiles—UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which enshrines the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear agreement, stipulates that restrictions on Iran’s ballistic missiles will expire eight years after the deal’s implementation. This expiration date is a strategic blunder. Permanent relief for ballistic missiles will allow Iran to not only reinforce its deterrent capacity, but to redouble the offensive threat it poses to the region. Iran’s ballistic missiles have long been at the top of the list of asymmetric threats posed by Iran. While initially envisioned under the late Shah, missiles ultimately grew to be a core part of Iran’s security doctrine after its bloody eight-year war with Iraq. During that conflict, it was none other than a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who proposed to “reverse-engineer” Scud missiles Tehran had procured from the Libya and Syria to give it an edge in projectile manufacturing.

SnyderTalk Comment: Cutting to the chase, Israel is the immediate target of Iranian missiles.  Europe is second, and for technological reasons, the U.S. is a distant third.

This is all about Israel, or more precisely, it’s about longstanding Iranian policy to wipe Israel off the map.

Dan Margalit: Iran’s fingerprints are everywhere— August may be the hottest month of the year, but hovering above Israel’s violent borders and streets one can see the thick, dark clouds that are associated with winter. Israel’s enemies, however sophisticated, lack a comprehensive mechanism to coordinate their attacks against us. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad has warned Israel it will fire from the Gaza Strip, and this has led the Israel Defense Forces to deploy Iron Dome batteries in the south. Was this threat related to the failing health of detainee Mohammad Allan on his hunger strike? Was Thursday’s salvo on northern Israel by Islamic Jihad elements in Syria a consequence of that threat? I believe there is no direct link. That said, Iran’s fingerprints are everywhere, including in the north. The rockets fired on Thursday were launched from an area ostensibly held by Syrian President Bashar Assad, not the anti-regime insurgents. But Iran has been operating freely in that area.

SnyderTalk Comment: Yes, Iran’s fingerprints are everywhere including the White House.  Evil is everywhere and Iran’s leaders are the embodiment of evil.

AP: High-level federal employees used work Internet systems to join Ashley Madison—Hundreds of U.S. government employees — including some with sensitive jobs in the White House, Congress and law enforcement agencies — used Internet connections in their federal offices to access and pay membership fees to the cheating website Ashley Madison, The Associated Press has learned. The AP traced many of the accounts exposed by hackers back to federal workers. They included at least two assistant U.S. attorneys; an information technology administrator in the Executive Office of the President; a division chief, an investigator and a trial attorney in the Justice Department; a government hacker at the Homeland Security Department and another DHS employee who indicated he worked on a U.S. counterterrorism response team.

BBC: Labour leadership: Corbyn ‘would make Labour Iraq apology’—Jeremy Corbyn has said he will formally apologise on behalf of the Labour Party for taking the country to war with Iraq if elected leader. Mr Corbyn told the Guardian the party would “never again flout the United Nations and international law”. He said there was no need to wait for the Chilcot inquiry into the war “to know that mistakes were made”. Polls suggest Mr Corbyn is leading the Labour leadership race ahead of Andy Burnham, Yvette Cooper and Liz Kendall.

Medea Benjamin: Who’s the Real Troublemaker in the Middle East?—Except for maybe the Affordable Care Act, nothing gets Republican politicians fired up like Iran. In the first GOP debate alone, Scott Walker promised that he’d tear up the Iran nuclear deal on day one of his presidency. Carly Fiorina blamed the country for “most of the evil that is going on in the Middle East.” Mike Huckabee vowed to topple the “terrorist Iranian regime and defeat the evil forces of radical Islam.” Oddly, when the candidates complain about the “evil forces of radical Islam” or trouble in the Middle East, they never seem to mention Saudi Arabia. Iran’s no democratic paradise. But on many counts, Washington’s Saudi allies are even worse. The Saudi royals crush dissent with an iron fist, spread extremist ideology, and invade their neighbors with impunity. Domestically, the Saudi regime oppresses women, religious minorities, and millions of foreign workers. And it brutally represses criticism from human rights activists, prompting condemnation from both Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

SnyderTalk Comment: Saudi Arabia is to blame for a lot of the terrorism in the world today.  Saudi money funds mosques where jihad is preached.  The beneficiaries of those funds have targeted Saudi Arabia.  That tells us a lot.

Edward Alexander: A Righteous Gentile Navigates the Sharkpool of Washington’s Middle East CorrespondentsThe Tribalist, by Louis Marano, is ostensibly a work of fiction but at its core a kind of love song by a gentile journalist for the State of Israel, and especially its secular Zionist core. (Because of the relentless attacks by left-wing polemicists on Israel’s allegedly “messianic” fringe, it’s often forgotten that most of Israel’s founders and all its leaders have been secular Zionists.) The author, the product of an Italian-American family in Buffalo, served two tours of duty in Vietnam as a Navy Seabee. After a brief career in academia, he spent 22 years as a journalist in Washington, D.C., including a decade at theWashington Post and five years as reporter, columnist, and feature writer for United Press International. His acute and vivid depiction of the mean-spirited, untidy passions of  American Mideast correspondents toward Israel is the book’s great contribution to our understanding of one phalanx of the ignorant armies arrayed against the Jewish state.  “Politics in a work of literature,” wrote the great French novelist Stendhal, “is like a pistol-shot in the middle of a concert, something  loud and vulgar, and yet a thing to which it is not possible to refuse one’s attention.”

Khaled Abu Toameh—Palestinians Flock to Islamic State

  • The terror group Islamic State has become extremely popular among Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Four recent public opinion polls show that at least one million Palestinians support the Islamic State.
  • The Palestinians’ two governments, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (PA), have good reason to be worried about the Islamic State. In recent weeks, Islamic State spokesmen have issued threats against both the PA and Hamas, accusing them of “collaboration” with the “Zionist entity.”
  • Christian activist Sam Butrous noted that the widespread support for Islamic State among Palestinians is a sign of increased extremism and a denial of Christians’ rights to the Holy Land.
  • The PA and Hamas can only blame themselves for the surge of Palestinians joining the Islamic State. The two governments allow anti-Western incitement in their mosques and media outlets. Their leaders regularly glorify and endorse Palestinians who carry out terror attacks against Israelis, encouraging others to follow suit. If these Palestinians are unable to attack Israel from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, they travel to Syria and Iraq to join the jihad against Israel’s allies, namely the U.S. and other Western countries.
  • Palestinian leaders cannot evade responsibility for inspiring dozens of Palestinians to join the Islamic State. The fiery rhetoric of these leaders and ongoing incitement against Israel and the West are further radicalizing Palestinians and driving them into the Islamic State’s open arms.

SnyderTalk Comment: Why do you think “Palestinians” are flocking to ISIS in such large numbers?  The answer is that they hate Yahweh.  Israel hate and Jew hate are just two of the many manifestations of their Yahweh hate.

That’s the truth.

Islamism is dangerous; it’s growing; and it’s spreading.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Exodus 19

18 Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because Yahweh descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently. 19 When the sound of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him with thunder. 20 Yahweh came down on Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain; and Yahweh called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. 21 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, “Go down, warn the people, so that they do not break through to Yahweh to gaze, and many of them perish. 22 Also let the priests who come near to Yahweh consecrate themselves, or else Yahweh will break out against them.” 23 Moses said to Yahweh, “The people cannot come up to Mount Sinai, for You warned us, saying, ‘Set bounds about the mountain and consecrate it.’” 24 Then Yahweh said to him, “Go down and come up again, you and Aaron with you; but do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to Yahweh, or He will break forth upon them.” 25 So Moses went down to the people and told them.

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

Thanks to the Messiah’s sacrifice on our behalf, we have direct access to Him.  We don’t need another intermediary, and we don’t need to fear.  The shedding of His blood covered our sins, and He declared us holy.  His promise is all that we have to go one, but that is enough because Yahweh never breaks His word.

At the end of the day, all that we have to rely on are Yahweh’s promises.  That includes His promises to and about the Children of Israel and the Promised Land.  Don’t take those issues lightly.  Yahweh doesn’t.  His word will be fulfilled, and nothing and no one can stop it.  Those who try will be severely injured.

True believers will not betray Yahweh, but there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing.  They are betraying Him every day.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
