Caroline Glick—Kerry’s Israeli supporters:

Once again, on Saturday, US Secretary of State John Kerry tried to extort Israeli concessions to the PLO by threatening us with a Western economic boycott.

Kerry is obsessed with Israel’s economic success. Last May he told us that we’re too rich to surrender our land.

Now he’s saying we’ll be poor if we don’t do so.

The anti-Semitic undertones of Kerry’s constant chatter about Jews having too much money are obvious. But beyond their inherent bigotry, Kerry’s statements serve to legitimize the radical Left’s economic war against the Jewish state. Administration supporters and fundraisers from Code Pink and other pressure groups, as well as the EU understand that if they escalate their economic and political persecution of the Jewish state, their actions will be met with quiet understanding, and even support from the Obama administration.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Jordan Says No to Kerry “Conspiracy”Kerry has managed to escalate tensions not only between Israel and the Palestinians, but also between Jordanians and the Palestinians inside Jordan. Kerry will now have to find a way to calm King Abdullah and his constituents before Jordan slips into civil war. “Jordan is playing host [to Palestinians] and no agreement can pass without Jordan.” — Fatin al-Baddad, Jordanian journalist. Jordan’s government officials and ordinary citizens have come out against U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s proposals for reaching a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. The Jordanians fear that such an agreement would be concluded at their expense and undermine King Abdullah’s rule.

Elliott Abrams: Soft bigotry, Secretary Kerry, and the PLO— The Palestinians should be expected to develop a democratic political culture and to minimize corruption and incitement. To think otherwise damages any hope that they’ll ever achieve a decent, democratic, independent state.

Steve Apfel: One industry that will never boycott Israel— Plans to isolate Israel through boycotting may flounder or prosper. Call that a truism. Whether boycott prospers depends on one particular industry not joining the boycott. Call that a paradox. The more wholeheartedly this non-boycotting industry operates in Israel, and the more profitably, the better the boycott movement thrives. Likely or not, call that a proposition. Could it be a valid one?

Adam Kirsch: That New German TV Series about WWII is Deeply Troubling— When Generation War was first broadcast as a miniseries in Germany in March of last year, it was called “Our Mothers, Our Fathers.” That original title makes clear just how much is at stake when Germans make a film about World War II. Our mothers and fathers—or, for younger Germans today, grandfathers and even great-grandfathers—what were they up to in the years 1939-45? The rest of the world sees those Germans, the ones who conquered Europe and committed genocide, as the monsters of the twentieth century. But how can one’s own mother and father be monsters? Aren’t there other stories to be told, and other ways to tell the stories, that would allow Germans to at least have some pity for their forebears—maybe even some degree of pride?

Marc Simms: Battle Lines Drawn in Iraq’s Anbar Province— Since the New Year, Iraq’s Anbar province has been wracked with violence as tribal militias, Iraqi government forces, and the al-Qaeda inspired Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) have fought for control of key cities in the region. Though the causes behind this current round of violence are multi-faceted, its outbreak can roughly be traced to December 28, when Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki dispatched troops to Ramadi to arrest Ahmed al-Alwani, an MP in the Iraqi Parliament.

Greg Richter: D’Souza Producer: ‘I Never Feared My Govt Until Now’— Gerald Molen, the producer of Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary film “2016: Obama’s America,” says he never feared his government before he learned that D’Souza is under federal investigation for election fraud.

Julia Ioffe: The Loneliness of Vladimir Putin— In December 19, Maria Baronova met me on the steps of the Nikulinsky courthouse, a squat Soviet-era building lost in a construction zone somewhere in Moscow’s eternal sprawl. Against the once-white building and dull pewter sky, Baronova was the sole splash of color, her puffy magenta jacket open to the cold afternoon. It was an important day for the lanky, blonde 29-year-old; for six months, she had been coming to the courthouse daily to stand trial along with eleven others for their roles in protests on the eve of Vladimir Putin’s third inauguration. Sixteen more were awaiting trial, and together they were known as the Bolotnaya prisoners, for the name of the square where a peaceful protest on May 6, 2012, had turned violent. For the crime of yelling, or in Putin-era legalese, “inciting mass riots,” Baronova was facing two years in jail.

Ben Cohen: Scandinavian Circumcision Controversy Proves Europe is the Dark Continent— Back in the heyday of colonialism, Europeans used to refer to Africa as the “dark continent.” Originally, the phrase was intended to convey a sense of Africa’s impenetrability for colonial explorers, but over time, it acquired a pejorative meaning, conjuring up images of savage, hostile natives.

Yoram Schweitzer, Shlomo Brom, and Shani Avita: Terror Strikes Again in Egypt— The demonstrations in Tahrir Square three years ago that resulted in the ouster of President Husni Mubarak led to the rise of the short-lived Muslim Brotherhood government. Today, Egypt is facing another election campaign, which will apparently result in General Abd al-Fattah al-Sisi’s election as president. The mass street demonstrations accompanied by suppressed violence, which initially accompanied the changes of government in Egypt, have since given way to more intensive violence. Manifested first in Sinai, this violence has over the past several months spread to cities in Egypt. For Israel, the increase in terror activity in Sinai and in Egypt proper sharpens the danger developing on its borders from global jihadi elements in the south and the north. However, Israel would do well not to intervene in the uncompromising fight Egypt has declared against the terrorist organizations.

Deutsche Welle: Wanted dead by US officials, Snowden tells German TV— German NDR television issued a further snippet ahead of a broadcast late Sunday in Europe of an exclusive interview with Snowden in which the intelligence whistleblower claims that US officials wanted him killed. “These people, and they are government officials, have said they would love to put a bullet in my head or poison me when I come out of the supermarket, and then watch as I die in the shower,” he told NDR interviewer Hubert Seipel, who said the interview took place last Thursday.

SnyderTalk Comment: Poor John, bless his heart.  He’s so busy orchestrating peace between Israel and the Palestinians, negotiating a peace deal between warring Syrians, convincing Iran to abandon the quest for nuclear weapons, and trying to figure out what to do about escalating tensions in Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia that he doesn’t have time to read the latest news.

And then there’s Russia.  Who would have thought that Vladimir Putin would get upset because Monsanto wants to monopolize global food production?  He’s a former KGB guy for Pete’s sake, not a bleeding heart liberal.

Who has time to keep up with the latest news?

Actually, it was Kerry’s staff’s fault.  They should have told him.

But wait: that excuse hasn’t worked very well for Obama.  His staff told him about the IRS, Benghazi, gunrunning, the NSA, the EPA, FEMA, and a host of other corrupt practices that his administration owns, and he had to fall back on the “I don’t recall” line that was made so famous by Bill and Hillary or “they were in the White House, but they didn’t come by the Oval Office to see me” or something equally lame.

Having to rely on the same old tired excuses/explanations is never a good thing because it makes you look like an incompetent boob.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Zechariah 1: 12-17

Then the angel of Yahweh said, “O Yahweh Sabaoth, how long will You have no compassion for Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which You have been indignant these seventy years?” Yahweh answered the angel who was speaking with me with gracious words, comforting words. So the angel who was speaking with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh Sabaoth, “I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion. But I am very angry with the nations who are at ease; for while I was only a little angry, they furthered the disaster. Therefore thus says Yahweh, ‘I will return to Jerusalem with compassion; My house will be built in it,’” declares Yahweh Sabaoth, “and a measuring line will be stretched over Jerusalem. Again, proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh Sabaoth, “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.”’”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
