Jake Wallis Simons—The rabbi, the lost ark and the future of Temple Mount:

Rabbi Chaim Richman shows me into a darkened room, strokes his beard and pulls out his smartphone. He has a specially designed app that works the lights. The room illuminates. He taps the screen again, and a heavy curtain slides open. There, resplendent in brilliant gold – and rather smaller than I expected – lies the Ark of the Covenant.

“This isn’t the real lost ark,” he says. “The real one is hidden about a kilometre from here, in underground chambers created during the time of Solomon.” I look at him askance. “It’s true,” he says. “Jews have an unbroken chain of recorded information, passed down from generation to generation, which indicates its exact location. There is a big fascination with finding the lost ark, but nobody asked a Jew. We have known where it is for thousands of years. It could be reached if we excavated Temple Mount, but that area is controlled by Muslims.”

Josh Rogin: Congress: Hillary’s Benghazi Investigation Let Top Officials Escape Blame— The State Department’s investigation into the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi was not independent and failed to hold senior State Department officials accountable for the failures that led to the death of four Americans, according to a new investigative report compiled by the House Oversight Committee.

Victor Sharpe: Fundamentally transforming America— With the de facto capitulation of President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry over Syria, and with Russian President Putin now very much in control and humiliating the United States in the pages of the New York Times, the towering peril to the world is now the re-invigorated Russian support of Iran. Equally, Iran supports Syria financially, militarily and with Iranian boots on the ground. And behind Iran and Syria is the ever protective Russian veto in the UN Security Council. Then too there is the Russian plan to pipe oil from Iran through its Syrian client to the Eastern Mediterranean or through Turkey. The stench of Middle Eastern oil permeates much of the political maneuvering that afflicts the world. Alas, Obama and Kerry have allowed Russia to reassert itself in the Middle East, which it had not been able to accomplish since the Arab aggression against Israel during the Yom Kippur War in 1973.

Dore Gold: What Might Be Expected in Monitoring Syria: Lessons from Past Middle East Weapons Inspections—Weapons experts point to the successes of the West in both Iraq and Libya in destroying large weapons arsenals. Yet there are certain problems that weapons inspectors have had to deal with over the years that are common to all attempts to deal with control of the weapons of mass destruction (WMD) of rogue regimes in the Middle East.

Paul Greenberg: Here comes the long stall— And so it begins. Call it The Long Stall — and, no, that’s not the name of a Raymond Chandler detective novel. It’s the name of the oldest trick in any world-class aggressor’s book. And its secret is simple: Keep promising the suckers peace and they’ll follow you anywhere, even, soon enough, into a disastrous war. But do it gradually, step by step, negotiation after negotiation, meeting after meeting — at Geneva this week, maybe the United Nations (formerly theLeague of Nations) next. Munich has become synonymous with this swindle. But any site will do for the next meeting. Just keep the mark hoping. If he’s really gullible, he’ll think it was all his own idea. Just keep him talking — anywhere — while the aggressor keeps aggressing. And the bodies keep piling up.

Walid Phares: A Real Interim Solution for Syria— In the northeastern part of Syria—contiguous to Iraq and Turkey—lies al Hasaka, or the Triangle, also known as al Jazeera province. As large as Lebanon, this area is inhabited by roughly four million Kurds, one million Christians, and a half million Arabs. Assad’s forces have practically left the area, and Kurdish militias have set up patrols, stopping Al Qaeda militias trying to enter these districts.

Zalman Shoval: Back in the USSR— President Barack Obama said that America no longer wants to be the “world’s policeman.” Vacuums, however, are destined to be filled, and Russia, perhaps with China, will fill them.

Isi Leibler: Putin’s pivot to the Middle East— In the Syria crisis, Putin played the role of international statesman, masterminding a watershed moment in which Russia effectively supplanted the U.S. as world leader.

Elliott Abrams: The Syria deal— The text of the framework agreement between the United States and Russia leaves us with more questions than answers.

Ben Lynfield: Why Some Palestinians Want to Learn Like Israelis—Israel has introduced the Israeli curriculum into selected schools for Arab children in east Jerusalem at the initiative of parents seeking to facilitate their children’s acceptance in the Israeli job market and at Israeli universities. ”Parents know that the future of their children is in Israel,” says David Koren, an adviser to the Jerusalem mayor. ”Parents requested having the option of the Israeli curriculum. People were paying 12,000 shekels ($3,430 dollars) for private courses to prepare their children for Israeli universities and they asked the mayor, why not open a track within the school?”

Jerold Auerbach: One-State Delusion— “Two-State Illusion” was an especially catchy title for the lead Opinion column in the Sunday The New York Times Review section (September 15). It was about time, I thought, after years of reading endlessTimes columns and editorials about the urgency of just that outcome, with Israel and Palestine living amicably side-by-side in wonderland. But “the idea of a state for Palestinians and one for Israelis,” wrote University of Pennsylvania political scientist Ian Lustick, “is a fantasy that blinds us and impedes progress.” Lustick shed no tears for the demise of every Middle East diplomat’s favorite dream. He properly lacerated the “true believers” – Secretary of State Kerry is named. But Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, the Israeli sponsors of the lamentable Oslo failure whose twentieth anniversary just passed, escaped mention. He aptly warned that “obsessive focus on preserving the theoretical possibility of a two-state solution is as irrational as rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic rather than steering clear of icebergs.” Why, then, does everyone – Palestinians, Israelis and Americans – pretend to believe in the chimera of a two-state solution, and why are its prospects virtually nil?

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Amos 1: 5-6

“I will also break the [gate] bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the valley of Aven, and him who holds the scepter, from Beth-eden; so the people of Aram will go exiled to Kir,” says Yahweh. Thus says Yahweh, “For three transgressions of Gaza and for four I will not revoke its [punishment], because they deported an entire population to deliver [it] up to Edom.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
