Alan M. Dershowitz—Assad is adopting Hamas’ ‘dead baby’ strategy:

As Congress debates whether to authorize President Obama to engage in a punitive-deterrent military attack on Syria, the Assad regime is adopting what I have called the “dead baby” strategy, perfected by Hamas in its battles with Israel. This approach is as simple as it is brutal: Force the United States, as Hamas forced Israel, to kill as many civilians as possible by deliberately moving legitimate military targets into civilian areas, or by moving civilians into military areas.

Democracies, such as the United States and Israel, which care about avoiding civilian casualties, are then put to the tragic choice of either foregoing a legitimate attack against military targets, or by attacking them, being blamed for the civilian casualties, that were willfully caused by their enemies’ illegal use of human shields.

Helen Freedman: Two-State Solution: Flawed Thinking— Gary Rosenblatt’s column, “Israel Should Act Now, Before It’s Too Late” (July 26) promotes the “two-state solution” as a good option for Israel. This is the flawed thinking that forces Israel to “negotiate” with the Arabs. Secretary of State John Kerry has “guaranteed” that Israel will retreat to the 1967 borders. What can that possibly mean? Does that “guarantee” mean that 350,000 Jews will be removed from their homes, by force if necessary, as happened to the Gush Katif [a settlement in Gaza] residents?

Kim Zigfeld: U.S. and Russia Trade Barbs on Syria— The poisonous rhetoric flowing out of Russia against the U.S. and U.K. in recent days leaves no doubt about the utter collapse of the Obama “reset” with the Putin dictatorship.  Under the leadership of the man who promised us better relations with Russia, we have entered a new cold war.

Simon Shuster: At the G-20, Obama’s Syria Efforts Take a Hit as Putin Gains Support—Whatever his other failings at the G-20 summit on Thursday, U.S. President Barack Obama still made the grandest entrance. Driving up to the venue — an imperial palace in the Russian city of St. Petersburg — the other world leaders looked almost dowdy in their Mercedes and BMW sedans, at least when compared with Obama in his stretched Cadillac Escalade, which his press pool dubbed the Beast. In an apparent gesture of goodwill toward the host country, Obama’s ride even strayed from the usual protocol by flying the Russian tricolor, complete with little golden tassels. But Russian President Vladimir Putin, standing at the palace door, looked unimpressed. He was not there to make friends with Obama.

Joel Gehrke: Obama team thought Iran would not tolerate Bashar Assad’s use of WMDs— Iran is enduring economic sanctions designed to slow the country’s nuclear weapons program, but President Obama’s team thought the regime might abandon dictator Bashar Assad over his use of chemical weapons in Syria’s civil war. Samantha Power, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, hoped that a team of UN investigators — many of whom, presumably, have a longstanding relationship with Iranian leaders — could write a report that would convince Iran to abandon its ally at the behest of the United States.

Mail & Guardian: Obama appeals for backing to strike Syria—President Barack Obama urged Americans on Saturday to back him in launching an attack on Syria, as diplomatic pressure grew on the United States to wait for a UN report expected in a week’s time before beginning military action. Fresh from a European trip in which he failed to forge a consensus among global leaders, Obama plunged into a campaign on radio and television to try to convince a skeptical US public and Congress of the need for a military strike on Syria.

Rich Lowry: Obama ‘Imploding’ in the House— I was just talking to a Capitol Hill source who thinks there are maybe two dozen Republican votes for the authorization, no more — and there probably won’t be more. It’s hard to know because the situation is fluid, and the vote is so sensitive that Republicans members don’t even want the leadership keeping a tally of votes, for fear that it will lead to an effort to influence them.

Clarice Feldman: Operation Cockamamie: The Damascus Follies—Looking over the week’s crazy developments, I can see only one coherent strand in Obama’s foreign policy: he wants to make sure that John Kerry and Hillary Clinton will never be elected president.

Bernie Reeves: The French Connection in Syria— France appeared on the global stage in the current Syrian imbroglio as if out of whole cloth, the nation’s single aircraft carrier steaming to the Mediterranean.  Sadly, most Americans have no clue why. There are obvious reasons, but they are obscured by trends in the teaching of history, warfare and diplomacy over the past 40 years. On most liberal arts campuses today, history is more sociology and identity politics than the study of actual events. Warfare is not taught in many colleges, except in former ROTC courses disguised as curricula in “peace, war and defense.”

Ashraf Sweilam: Egypt launches offensive against Sinai insurgents—A military official says Egyptian helicopters and tanks are attacking Islamic militants in villages in the northern Sinai Peninsula. He says “dozens” have been killed or wounded. The Saturday assault came after Egypt deployed a column of armored vehicles and trucks carrying infantry into the region, a militant stronghold, in a major new counterinsurgency offensive, the official said.

Paul Austin Murphy: Iran’s Press TV on Prince Charles and the Jews— On Tuesday (3rd of September), Iran’s Press TV published an article (‘Prince Charles wears Jewish cap at new chief rabbi inaugural’) on Prince Charles’s attendance at the inaugural of the new Chief Rabbi of the UK, Ephraim Mervis. It focused particularly on the fact that Charles wore the Jewish ‘yarmulke’. From Prince Charles’s attendance, and his wearing a skullcap, Press TV concluded much. Firstly, this article hardly mentions Israel or even Zionists. It’s primarily about the Jews. In fact the tone is barely distinguishable from Der Stürmer or Stormfront.

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Joel 2: 23-27

“So rejoice, O sons of Zion, and be glad in Yahweh your God; for He has given you the early rain for [your] vindication. And He has poured down for you the rain, the early and latter rain as before. The threshing floors will be full of grain, and the vats will overflow with the new wine and oil. Then I will make up to you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the creeping locust, the stripping locust and the gnawing locust, My great army which I sent among you. You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied and praise the name of Yahweh your God, who has dealt wondrously with you; then My people will never be put to shame. Thus you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am Yahweh your God, and there is no other; and My people will never be put to shame.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
