P. David Hornik: Kerry in Israel: Blind Alleys and Empty Words—Secretary of State John Kerry was in Israel on Monday and Tuesday, after a stop in Turkey. Reports indicate the usual mix of Obama-administration delusions and dubious promises. The Jerusalem Post reported Israeli officials’ “astonishment” at statements Kerry made in Istanbul on Sunday, when he praised the Turkish government’s “sensitiv[ity]” and lack of “triumphalism” in responding to Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s “apology” over Israel’s Mavi Marmara raid.

4--Scripture of the Day

Daniel 5: 25-28

“Now this is the inscription that was written out: ‘MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.’ This is the interpretation of the message: ‘MENE’—God has numbered your kingdom and put an end to it. ‘TEKEL’—you have been weighed on the scales and found deficient. ‘PERES’—your kingdom has been divided and given over to the Medes and Persians.”

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.  It’s also available for free in PDF format.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

Alan Dershowitz: Cardozo Law School’s Honoring of Jimmy Carter Provides an Educational Moment— The ill-advised decision by a student run journal of conflict resolution at the Cardozo Law School to honor Jimmy Carter provides a long overdue opportunity to set the record straight with regard to Carter’s dishonorable history with regard to conflicts.

Roger L. Simon: The Good Dershowitz vs. The Bad Jimmuh—Alan Dershowitz can be a frustrating man, but when he is good, he is very, very good. I will skip past some of his iffier moments of Obama-induced backsliding to the present day when the Harvard professor has again stepped forward, this time to protest the decision of Yeshiva University’s Cardozo School of Law to give its annual “International Advocate for Peace” award to U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

Charles Jacobs and Ilya Feoktistov: Carter at Cardozo: It’s Not the “New-Anti-Semitism” — It’s the Older Kind—A disturbing glimpse into the roots of Carter’s animus towards Israel.

Mark Tapson: Canadian Student Association Joins the Genocidal War Against Israel—A racist resolution reveals the darkness infecting Western campuses.

Michael Kravshik: Canadian Left Calls for ‘Neutrality’ on Honor Killings & Female Genital Mutilation—Political establishment condemns calling heinous woman-hating practices “barbaric.”

Isi Leibler: Sanctimonious Jewish bleeding hearts— Is it not chutzpah for American Jewish “leaders” to provide unsolicited advice to the Israeli prime minister?

Emily Amrousi: Between Birkenau and Mount Sinai— Is it insensitive to write that the Holocaust is not the only thing that defines modern Judaism?

Ruthie Blum: Kerry’s pointless frequent flier miles— The U.S. secretary of state is not going to let facts get in the way of his foreign policy.

Dan Margalit: Are there more like Thatcher?— Margaret Thatcher’s style of leadership is what will be missed most about her.

Yitzhak Santis: Fixing Catholic-Jewish relations— The election of Pope Francis I opens a new chapter for the Catholic Church, and for the complex Catholic-Jewish relationship. Since the Second Vatican Council’s historic Nostra Aetate declaration in 1965 that dramatically changed Church teaching on Jews and Judaism, important progress has been made in this relationship. The establishment of diplomatic ties between the Vatican and Israel in 1993 was one such milestone. Giving hope is the new Pope’s history with Argentina’s Jewish community. He stood with that country’s Jews in their darkest hour in the aftermath of the 1994 AMIA bombing. Also, World Jewish Congress President Ronald Lauder expects the new pontiff to “strengthen the Vatican’s relationship with Israel.”

Anav Silverman: A Rock is a Bullet: The Consequences of Palestinian Rock-Throwing— For over 25 years, Palestinian rock-throwing has become a part of routine life for Jewish residents living in Judea and Samaria. On the roads to the settlement communities, many of the 300,000 residents living in the scenic region have experienced some kind of rock attack on their vehicle. While there has been much debate about the political significance of a Palestinian rock thrower by outside media observers and political commentators, for residents impacted by such rock attacks, the rock is simply seen as lethal.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Re-election of Hamas Leader Will Not Change Islamist Movement—The re-election last week of Khaled Mashaal as Hamas leader has been interpreted by some Arab and Western analysts as a sign of the radical Islamist’s desire to march toward “moderation and pragmatism.” Their argument is apparently based on remarks made by Mashaal [in English, of course, but not in Arabic] to the effect that Hamas is prepared to accept the two-state solution.

Michael Gerson: Is Iran guilty of an incitement to genocide?— Israel must be “wiped off the map.” Zionism is a “germ of corruption” that “will be wiped off the face of the earth.” It is a “cancer cell” that must be “removed from the body.” “Israel is destined for destruction and will soon disappear.”

Patrick Clawson: Iran Beyond Oil?—Iran is in the midst of a non-oil export boom. While still important, oil is becoming a smaller part of Iran’s trade. The country’s largest trading partners are Iraq, China, the UAE, Afghanistan, India, and Turkey. In short, even with reduced oil income due to sanctions, Iran’s government finances are doing as well as (or better) than those of the U.S. and most other industrial countries.

Washington Post Editorial: Iran Heeds Israel’s Warning of Uranium “Red Line”—The latest round of negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program was, by all accounts, a disappointment. Tehran’s negotiators did not spell out a full response to a proposal by the U.S. and five partners for limiting its enrichment of uranium, and what they did say revealed a wide gulf between the two sides.

Louis Rene Beres: Palestinian Terrorism Now Takes Barbarism To New Lows (originally published 11-26-03, updated 12-12-12)— On Rosh Hashana eve, at around 9:00 p.m. on September 26, a very heroic Palestinian “freedom fighter” knocked on the door of a trailer home in Negahot, where 30 religious families live quietly on two barren hilltops, and jubilantly murdered a seven-month-old girl. Planned precisely for the start of the Jewish New Year, this deliberate attack on a Jewish infant with an M-16 assault rifle was subsequently described by both Hamas and Islamic Jihad as a “successful military operation against the criminal Zionist occupation.” Not surprisingly, Palestinian terrorism is now unchallenged as this long-bloodied planet’s purest form of organized human cruelty.

Tom Blumer: Jobs: A Fourth Straight Spring and Summer Bummer—For most Americans, the arrival of spring means rising temperatures, the reemergence of green grass (and weeds), and a return to outdoor activities. It also appears, for the fourth year in a row, that spring’s arrival will be accompanied by yet another swoon in the nation’s job market.

Nicholas Ballasy: Obama’s Gun-Control Home Stretch: ‘This Is Not About Me’—VIDEO: Reid says there is “no reason” for GOP’s “blatant obstruction” of gun control except “fear of considering anti-violence proposals” in public view.

Amb. Ron Prosor: Margaret Thatcher Devoted Her Life to Protecting Western Values—Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who passed away Monday, was a great admirer of the State of Israel. The Iron Lady had the ability to see Israel for what it was: a bastion of liberty in the world’s greatest hotbed of tyranny. As she herself once put it, “the political and economic construction of Israel against huge odds and bitter adversaries is one of the heroic sagas of our age.”

Steve McCann: Why the United States is a Dying Country—Recently Rush Limbaugh opined that the United States is a dying country. Unfortunately he’s right, and here’s why.

Joseph Klein: North Korea Leans Toward Brink of War—While waiting to exploit any sign of weakness in the Obama administration.

John Perazzo: Toxic Government by Democrats: Chicago—“Progressive” policies turn Chicago into a cesspool of poverty and crime.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
