Isaiah 43: 14-15—Thus says Yahweh your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, “For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and will bring them all down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, into the ships in which they rejoice. I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.”

Shalu shalom Yerushalayim: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 122: 6)

Perspective

“On the Turkish embassy’s official site in Washington there’s a condolence note from the ambassador on September 11. It ends with this paragraph: “As Turkey’s chief diplomatic representative to the United States, I see that, even today, Americans remain as profoundly shaken by the tragedy as they were nine years ago. Just the same, we in Turkey are still stunned and saddened by what happened on September 11, 2001. Along with our American friends, we cannot and will not forget the people killed or wounded. As a country that has lost thousands of citizens to terror, Turkey truly understands the American people’s grief.?”

“Last year there was no discussion at all of September 11 in fourth grade. When my son requested one he was allowed to speak for a few minutes and then the teacher cut him off, saying that now they would talk about more pleasant things.”

“On Labor Day, President Obama injected some mirth into one of his speeches while attempting to explain away the annoying economy. Speaking before a crowd in Milwaukee, the president said: ‘Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time…are not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog.’”

#####

“I think that our rising debt level poses a national security threat, and it poses a national security threat in two ways: It undermines our capacity to act in our own interests, and it does constrain us where constraint may be undesirable. And it also sends a message of weakness, internationally.”

#####

“Under pressure from a barrage of bad midterm-election polls, President Obama has gone on the campaign trail to blame Pres. George W. Bush for all our economic problems and to bash House Republican leader John Boehner as nothing more than a Bush retread.”

#####

“The President of the United States of America is a dishonest man. He is also a poor excuse for a constitutional law scholar. Both of these accusations can be supported by looking at his handling of the recent controversies involving the Ground Zero mosque and an unhinged pastor’s planned burning of the Koran.”

#####

“The president who never stops campaigning even when he is denouncing the permanent campaign has only one way to actually signal to his (dwindling) troops that he is summoning them to a particularly important political battle.”

“Fidel Castro recently bestowed The Atlantic Magazine’s Jeffrey Goldberg with an exclusive interview. More than a mere exclusive, this is the first interview granted by the Stalinist dictator to an American reporter in 4 years.”

“This year’s election looks to be a repeat of 1994. The GOP is likely once again to win 50-plus House seats and thereby take control of that chamber. Republicans are on track to pick up something like the 8 Senate seats they won in 1994—if they fail to win control of the Senate, it will only be because they begin from such a low level (there are 41 GOP senators today, as compared with 44 in 1994). Indeed, we wouldn’t be surprised if the wave of November 2010 were even bigger than that of 1994.”

#####

“Congress returns to Washington this week, just in time for a fight over the future of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. Those cuts are scheduled to expire on January 1, leading to increased taxes on estates, dividends, capital gains, and incomes. President Obama wants to maintain current tax rates for households making under $250,000 a year, while Republicans (and more than a few Democrats) want to extend current tax rates for everybody, at least through 2012. Pop quiz: Which plan makes the most economic and political sense?”

#####

“The outlook for Republicans in November is very good—at least as favorable as in 1994, and possibly more so than at any point since 1928. Several factors account for the positive environment.”

#####

“President Obama has fallen into the John Boehner trap. By attacking Boehner last week—emphatically, repeatedly, and by name—the president made himself look desperate. And by treating Boehner as practically an equal, Obama elevated him. Boehner was delighted. Obama had helped him fill the leadership void among Republicans. For the president, that’s a negative twofer.”

“It’s official: There are ‘widespread signs of a deceleration [in growth] compared with preceding periods.’”

It’s time for the people of America to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Israeli people.

Radical Islamists, or Islamofascists as I like to call them, are making a big deal about a preacher in Gainesville, Florida who plans to burn a Quran.  They’re marching in the streets of Afghanistan to protest the event, and al Qaeda is using it as a recruiting tool.  The church in question has about 50 congregates.

This concept may be difficult for people who have lived all of their lives under brutal Islamofascist dictatorships to grasp, but in the US, we believe in tolerance of religious differences.  You would hear a loud outcry if they wanted to burn a Bible, but no one would lift a finger to stop them.  Halfway around the world in Afghanistan, the proposed actions of that small group has generated more excitement than in Gainesville, Florida.

Now, take a look at the video below:

Why is our military burning Bibles in Afghanistan?  It’s to avoid offending the people of Afghanistan.  I’m not endorsing our military’s actions.  I’m simply explaining their logic.

The double standard is blatantly obvious.  Islamofascists around the world and their followers can’t abide a fringe group in the US torching a Quran, but they wouldn’t lift a finger to prevent anyone from burning a Bible or a Tanach in Afghanistan.  Evidences of the double standard are many.  I’ll list a few more:

  1. If you are a Jew or a Christian, try praying on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and you’ll be arrested.
  2. If you are visiting Jordan, a moderate Arab country, take a few Bibles with you to share with your friends, and they won’t let you in.  If you do get in with the Bibles, you had better be very discrete or you’ll end up in the hoosegow.  Jordanian jails make Gitmo look like a 5-star hotel.
  3. Forget about going to Saudi Arabia.  They don’t want any Jews and Christians there.

You get the picture.  I’m growing weary about having to bend over backwards to accommodate Islamofascists while they make no concessions to accommodate us.  Israel must confront this problem every single day, and their lives are on the line.  It’s time for the people of America to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Israeli people and respond appropriately.  We have to put an end to this foolishness before it’s too late.  We may have already put up with their behavior for too long.

Richard Rives with Just the Facts

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? A very important question found in the eleventh Psalm that makes it clear that the faith once delivered to the saints must be defended.

What is the basis of our faith—the foundation of what we believe? I believe that foundation can be found in the very first sentence of scripture upon which the entire Bible is based. Gen 1:1 In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.

Today that foundational truth is being challenged in an unprecedented manner. Theories of evolution limited only by the imaginations of mere men are eating away at the very foundations of our faith – the fact that “In the beginning God created” and if those foundational truths can be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Today, while the expression of faith in Christ is restricted and in some cases even banned from our college campuses, the religion of evolution is warmly embraced. As a result, the wisdom of this world, which the scriptures say is nothing more than foolishness to God, is being received even by those who consider themselves to be Christians. Many have been persuaded that a literal six day creation is an impossibility and that rather than being created in the image of God, man started out looking like a monkey.

Many Christians have missed the sign – and the most popular Christian creationists have failed to point them to it.

That sign is the seventh day Sabbath. Why was the fourth commandment given? Why are we to rest on the seventh day? It is because in six days God created the heaven and the earth and because he rested on the seventh day and hallowed it. It is a memorial of the Creation – the very sign that points us right back to the very first verse of the Bible.

Let us remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy; for if the foundations be destroyed, what shall the righteous do.

Contending for the faith once delivered to the Saints:
I’m Richard Rives with Just the Facts.
