Isaiah 33: 17-19—“Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; they will behold a far-distant land. Your heart will meditate on terror: ‘Where is he who counts? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?’ You will no longer see a fierce people, a people of unintelligible speech which no one comprehends, of a stammering tongue which no one understands.”

Shalu shalom Yerushalayim: Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 122: 6)

Richard Rives with Just the Facts:

The Book of Romans, Chapter 8 tells us that: There is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit; and that the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death.

Based on that passage, there are those who would lead us to believe that we are totally free from the law and that there is no penalty for breaking the commandments of our Creator.

But let’s read on:

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Today we are being told that all we have to do is believe in Jesus and that we really don’t have to worry about all those rules and regulations that we read about in the Bible. After all, everyone sins—right?

But let’s read on:

…to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity – or hatred – against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.

Yeshua, Jesus Christ, did not die in order that we might live carnal lives and walk after the flesh. He gives the Holy Spirit to those that obey Him, in order to empower His people to live after the Spirit. Even so, some would tell us that we can break our Creator’s commandments, decide for ourselves what is right and wrong, go right along with the world in total rebellion against Biblical precepts, and still claim to be Spirit filled Christians.

But let’s read on:

Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
