“…they (believers) will see His (Yahweh’s) face, and His Name will be on their foreheads.” (Revelation 22: 4)

Intro to SnyderTalk

“For here we are not afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.”

SnyderTalk® Commentary

Today I’ll begin a series during which I will show you where the Name Yahweh should appear in the New Testament.  I’ll start with Matthew chapters 1 and 2.  This will be an eye-opening experience.

Matthew 1

  1. The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham:
  2. Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, and Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.
  3. Judah was the father of Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez was the father of Hezron, and Hezron the father of Ram.
  4. Ram was the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, and Nahshon the father of Salmon.
  5. Salmon was the father of Boaz by Rahab, Boaz was the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse.
  6. Jesse was the father of David the king.  David was the father of Solomon by Bathsheba who had been the wife of Uriah.
  7. Solomon was the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, and Abijah the father of Asa.
  8. Asa was the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, and Joram the father of Uzziah.
  9. Uzziah was the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, and Ahaz the father of Hezekiah.
  10. Hezekiah was the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, and Amon the father of Josiah.
  11. Josiah became the father of Jeconiah and his brothers, at the time of the deportation to Babylon.
  12. After the deportation to Babylon: Jeconiah became the father of Shealtiel, and Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel.
  13. Zerubbabel was the father of Abihud, Abihud the father of Eliakim, and Eliakim the father of Azor.
  14. Azor was the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Achim, and Achim the father of Eliud.
  15. Eliud was the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, and Matthan the father of Jacob.
  16. Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom Jesus was born, who is called the Messiah.
  17. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations.
  18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
  19. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly.
  20. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
  21. “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
  22. Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by Yahweh through the prophet:
  23. “BEHOLD, THE VIRGIN SHALL BE WITH CHILD AND SHALL BEAR A SON, AND THEY SHALL CALL HIS NAME IMMANUEL,” which translated means, “GOD WITH US.”
  24. And Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of Yahweh commanded him, and took Mary as his wife,
  25. but kept her a virgin until she gave birth to a Son; and he called His name Jesus.

Matthew 2

  1. Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
  2. “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”
  3. When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
  4. Gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born.
  5. They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea; for this is what has been written by the prophet:
  6. ‘AND YOU, BETHLEHEM, LAND OF JUDAH, ARE BY NO MEANS LEAST AMONG THE LEADERS OF JUDAH; FOR OUT OF YOU SHALL COME FORTH A RULER WHO WILL SHEPHERD MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.’”
  7. Then Herod secretly called the magi and determined from them the exact time the star appeared.
  8. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.”
  9. After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.
  10. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
  11. After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
  12. And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
  13. Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of Yahweh appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him.”
  14. So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt.
  15. He remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by Yahweh through the prophet: “OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON.”
  16. Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.
  17. Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:
  18. “A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, WEEPING AND GREAT MOURNING, RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN; AND SHE REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NO MORE.”
  19. But when Herod died, behold, an angel of Yahweh appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, and said,
  20. “Get up, take the Child and His mother, and go into the land of Israel; for those who sought the Child’s life are dead.”
  21. So Joseph got up, took the Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
  22. But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Then after being warned by God in a dream, he left for the regions of Galilee,
  23. and came and lived in a city called Nazareth. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets: “He shall be called a Nazarene.”

Yahweh was very active in everything having to do with the Messiah from His birth to His death on a Roman cross.  He’s active in our lives too.  All we need to do is follow Him where He leads us.  As we go through this series, I think you’ll gain a fresh perspective on the New Testament.

You can be sure about this.  Yahweh’s Name will protect and seal believers at the End of Days.  On the first Passover in Egypt, Yahweh protected and sealed the Children of Israel with the blood of the Passover lamb.  At the End of Days, He will protect and seal believers with His Name by writing it on their foreheads.  Revelation 3: 12, 14: 1, and 22: 4 deal with this issue:

  • “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he will not go out from it anymore; and I will write on him the Name of My God, and the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God, and My new Name.” (Revelation 3: 12)
  • “Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Name and the Name of His Father written on their foreheads.” (Revelation 14: 1)
  • “…they (believers) will see His (Yahweh’s) face, and His Name will be on their foreheads.” (Revelation 22: 4)

Jesus and the Father share the Name “Yahweh,” and according to Jeremiah and Ezekiel Jerusalem will be called by Yahweh’s Name at the End of Days. (Jeremiah 33: 15-16 and Ezekiel 48: 35)  Thus, Revelation 3: 12 and 14: 1 refer to only One Name—Yahweh, and the face of Yahweh referred to in Revelation 22: 4 is the face of Yahweh the Son.

Please do not underestimate the importance of these facts, because at the End of Days Yahweh will divide the world into two camps: those who have faith in Him and those who reject Him in favor of a global economic and religious system that is headed by Satan.  Yahweh will write His Name on believers’ foreheads and seal them, but those who reject Him will receive the “mark of the Beast.”  To understand what this means, read Revelation 13: 16-18 and 14: 9-11:

  • “And he (the anti-Messiah’s false prophet) causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast (the anti-Messiah) or the number of his name.  Here is wisdom.  Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.” (Revelation 13: 16-18)
  • “…If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.  And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.” (Revelation 14: 9-11)

The importance of Yahweh’s Name should be obvious by now, and this is not a new idea.  For example, take a look at Proverbs 18: 10—“The Name of Yahweh is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe.”
