The Messiah is the Word of Yahweh—Part 4
Psalm 107: 19-20 tells us that the “Word of Yahweh” performs the Messiah’s work: “Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
According to these verses, Yahweh sent His Word and healed them. We know from Genesis 1: 1-26 that He easily could have spoken His Word and healed them. Psalm 107: 19-20 makes perfect sense when you understand that the “Word of Yahweh” is the Messiah and that He came to heal us, among other things. Isaiah 53: 5 explains it this way: “by His (the Messiah’s) scourging we are healed.” Literally, He took the penalty for our sins on Himself, redeemed us, reconciled us to God, and healed us completely.
Now take a look at Psalm 40: 6-7: “Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have opened; burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. Then I said, ‘Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of Me.’” These verses spell out the Messiah’s mission, although not in great detail. They begin by explaining that Yahweh does not desire sacrifice and meal offerings or burnt offerings and sin offerings. What, then, does He require?
Psalm 40: 7 provides the answer: “Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of Me.” Yahweh requires an unblemished sacrifice, and He is the only One in all of creation capable of being the perfect sacrifice He demands. Therefore, He came to redeem us and to atone for our sins. The book mentioned in Psalm 40: 7 is the Torah and the Messiah—the “Word of Yahweh”—is the focal point of the Torah, Yahweh’s written Word.

SnyderTalk® Commentary
It looks as though healthcare bills will get to the House and Senate floors by mid-month. That means this is crunch time.
Does our healthcare system need reform? You bet it does, but it doesn’t need a public option. Why? It’s because a government plan is the first step toward nationalization of healthcare. About that fact, there is no doubt. If a public option is available, power seekers in the House, the Senate, and the White House will redouble their efforts to make it the plan of choice and then the required plan. In due course, it will drive out competition and become the only plan available.
Below are some things that need to be a part of any healthcare reform effort:
- Tort reform. It’s high time that we put an end to punitive damages, or if we decide to keep punitive damages, we need to make sure they go to the government to help pay for healthcare rather than to plaintiffs and their attorneys.
- We need to allow interstate competition among insurance companies. I think it’s criminal that we don’t allow it already because this could have been done years ago, and it would have saved us hundreds of billions of dollars. If your senator or representative doesn’t support this change, I think you should vote against him/her. By the way, making this change will cause private firms like Wal-Mart to consider creating insurance operations. If a firm like Wal-Mart gets into the health insurance business, I will guarantee you that 2 things will happen: 1) healthcare costs will come down precipitously and 2) healthcare quality will go up. Wal-Mart is set up as a company to achieve those two objectives, and they are good at it.
- We should allow the federal and state governments and health insurance companies to negotiate with pharmaceutical companies to make bulk purchases of prescription drugs. This, too, is a simple change that will save hundreds of billions of dollars. Additionally, it will cut the cost of those drugs to the people who need them most.
- We have to provide insurance coverage for people who need it, don’t have it, and can’t afford it. It shouldn’t be free, but it should be subsidized because right now people who don’t have coverage are clogging up our emergency rooms. Emergency service is far too costly to use for minor problems, and that’s what’s happening now. Subsidized coverage can be set up through existing insurance companies using competitive bidding. I’m not talking about a public option here. I’m suggesting better utilization of our existing insurance providers.
If we create a public option, in time it will eliminate competition or reduce competition so much that it ceases to be a factor in U.S. healthcare delivery. No competition is a prescription for disaster in any industry. We can’t allow something as important as healthcare to become another post office or DMV.

The bill discussed in the article above deserves a name. Let’s call it the Make Fat Albert and His Rich Friends Richer bill. You can be certain about this. It won’t change the world’s climate one iota, but it will make you poorer and Fat Albert and his friends richer. Remember P.T. Barnum’s observation: “You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” You can tell by his appearance that Fat Albert is prone to excess, and that holds true for hyperbole.

You need to read the article above because there is a sizable group in the world that would like to see Israel destroyed. That mindset permeates the Palestinian Authority, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc., etc., etc. If you listen to what they tell their people, it boils down to this, and I’m paraphrasing Yasser Arafat, “We take what they give us until the Arab Nation rises up to destroy Israel.” Everything the PA has done to date is consistent with that philosophy, and you need to remember the Palestinian two-step/double cross. They say one thing and do another, but in the end you can count on them to turn on Israel. They’ve done it at every turn since the Oslo peace process started.
