“Seek Yahweh while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him return to Yahweh, and He will have compassion on him. Turn to our Elohim, for He will abundantly pardon.”

Isaiah 55: 6-7

The Most Abused Verses in the New Testament

Philippians 2: 9-11 are the most abused verses in the New Testament:

9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2: 9-11)

This is how those verses actually read:

9 For this reason also, Elohim highly exalted Him [Yeshua the Messiah], and bestowed on Him the Name which is above every name [Yahweh], 10 so that at the name of Yeshua [Yahweh] every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Yeshua the Messiah is Yahweh, to the glory of Elohim the Father. (Philippians 2: 9-11)

Fact 1

God is the name of a pagan deity. The name is also pronounced Gad, Gaud, and Gawd.

Yahweh is our Elohim. He is not our God. Referring to Yahweh by the name of a pagan deity is a sacrilege of the highest magnitude.

Elohim is a plural word. Genesis 1: 1 is the first verse in the Bible containing the word Elohim:

“In the beginning, Elohim created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1: 1)

In the First Commandment, Yahweh makes clear that we are not to confuse Him with other gods (elohim):

“I am Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods [elohim] before Me.” (Exodus 20: 2-3)

Fact 2

At birth, the Messiah was given the Aramaic name Y’shua. His name was not Jesus. In English today, Y’shua is typically written as “Yeshua”. Yeshua means “Yahweh saves” or “Yahweh is our Savior”. Thus, Yahshua is more correct than Yeshua, even though Yeshua is the correct Aramaic pronunciation.

Yehoshua is the Hebrew equivalent of Yeshua. In English, Yehoshua is translated as “Joshua”. If early Bible translators had been consistent, the Messiah’s name in the New Testament would have been Joshua, not Jesus. The name Jesus was made up.

Fact 3

Yahweh is the Name that is above every name. That is a bedrock fact in the Scriptures.

Fact 4

Yeshua the Messiah is Yahweh. That’s what He said, and that’s what the Old Testament points to.

Yahweh became a Man to die as the atoning sacrifice for our sins. That, too, is a bedrock fact in the Scriptures, both the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The Messiah’s true identity is all over the Old Testament. See His Name is Yahweh: Revised Edition.

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch. He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. This is His Name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)

Take Aways

The next time you hear a preacher say that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, you should tell him that he is dead wrong. Yahweh is the Name at which every knee will bow.

I fear that most preachers will reject this essential truth. They have worked into their shtick key phrases that they like to repeat by rote. I call them knee-jerk phrases. They are things preachers say without thinking, things like “praise Jesus”, “praise God”, and “praise the LORD”. Every one of those phrases is wrong.

This is not rocket science. How these simple facts have escaped the notice of most preachers is a mystery to me. I am most concerned about preachers who know the truth and refuse to tell it. That is sacrilegious.

Yahweh will hold people who profess to be His teachers/preachers accountable. There is no good excuse for what they are doing.

“My sheep hear My voice. I know them, and they follow Me.” (John 10: 27)

Yahweh never told anyone to call Him “God”, “the LORD”, “the Lord GOD”, or “the LORD God”. Yahweh did tell us that the Messiah is Yahweh, though.

This isn’t complicated. So, what’s the problem.

“I am the good shepherd. I know My sheep and My sheep know Me — just as the Father knows Me and I know the Father — and I lay down My life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also. They too will listen to My voice, and there shall be one flock and one Shepherd. The reason My Father loves Me is that I lay down My life — only to take it up again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of My own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from My Father.”

John 10: 14-18
