Coronavirus: Our Prayer Should Be to Get in Sync with Yahweh

Beginning with the End

Israel is the epicenter of things that will take place over the next several years. With all the media hype surrounding coronavirus, it’s easy to miss that essential truth.

Lockdowns mean skyrocketing unemployment and reduced GDP, leaving no household or business unscathed. Unemployment exceeded 20% for the first time this evening.

Israel is a small country. Coronavirus will hit Israel a lot harder than it will hit the U.S.

People who follow the news know what the virus is doing to the U.S. economy. Imagine what it would be like here if things were many times worse. That’s what Israel faces.

When the crisis is over and Yahweh’s people are considering places to visit, they need to put Israel high on their list of places to go. Israel needs our help. We need to be there for them.

I’m beginning to get a little annoyed when I hear people say, “I always wanted to visit the Promised Land.” Katie and I go to Israel a lot, so people ask me about Israel all the time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard that statement. I am especially perturbed when I know that the people making that statement spend a small fortune visiting places all over the U.S. and the world.

The day will come when coulda, woulda, shoulda will not be the right response.

Getting in Sync with Yahweh

Thanks to coronavirus, people are joining prayer groups and asking Yahweh to hold back COVID-19. But Yahweh is using COVID-19 to do things that can’t be done any other way.

I pray a lot, but I want to be in sync with Yahweh. Think about the 10 plagues in Egypt during the Exodus. Those were some of the most horrific and terrifying events ever to hit the world.

Should Yahweh’s people have been praying to stop the plagues?

Absolutely not.

Those plagues taught the leader of the most powerful country in the world at that time, Egypt, that Yahweh is the Supreme Sovereign and the only Elohim.

Those plagues were an integral part of Yahweh introducing Himself to humankind through the Torah.

Those plagues were an important step in the process of Yahweh fulfilling promises that He made to Abraham.

If Yahweh’s people had prayed to stop the plagues, Yahweh would have ignored their pleas and gotten on with business.

Coronavirus is Part of Yahweh’s Plan

Right now, Yahweh is moving in big ways all over the planet. Coronavirus is part of it.

Thanks to coronavirus, Chinese leaders have been humiliated and humbled, at least they’ve been humiliated and humbled as much as they can be.

President Trump is Yahweh’s man for a time like this. Thanks to coronavirus, his approval rating is rising rapidly.

Iran was in dire straits before COVID-19. Now Iranian leaders are feeling the pinch like never before. That’s because of coronavirus.

President Trump will make Europe a high priority in his second term. He has addressed NATO already, but the lopsided trade deals that the U.S. has with the EU has been on the back burner. Those trade deals will hit the front burner in Trump’s second term. Thanks to COVID-19, the U.S. will be in a much stronger bargaining position.

Thanks to COVID-19, the so-called “gay” community has exposed its depravity. In the midst of the coronavirus epidemic, they held a massive gay pride festival in Miami after President Trump warned all Americans to maintain social distance. Gays sent the president and the innocent Americans they will infect a collective “f**k you”.

I’m not trying to tell you about all the ways Yahweh is using COVID-19. I’m simply pointing out that it’s a lot bigger than most people think, and it’s essential to get in sync with Yahweh.

Italy and the Pope

On May 14, 2020, he [Pope Francis] will receive in the Vatican representatives of major religions, international organizations and humanitarian institutions, scientists and thinkers, economists, educators, sociologists and politicians, artists and sportspersons, to dialogue on the future of the Planet and subscribe a “Global Compact on Education”. It is an educational pact in which to invest the talents of all, to raise awareness and a wave of responsibility for the common good of humanity, starting with young people, and to reach all people of good will.

“Never before has there been such need to unite our efforts in a broad educational alliance, to form mature individuals capable of overcoming division and antagonism, and to restore the fabric of relationships for the sake of a more fraternal humanity.” Pope Francis

In a few short weeks, Pope Francis is scheduled to hold the most important meeting since the end of World War II. It’s impossible for me to overemphasize the importance of that meeting. Given the turmoil in Italy right now thanks to coronavirus, it may be postponed or cancelled.

I’ll have a lot more to say about Pope Francis’ “Global Pact for Education” in the days and weeks ahead. Today, I want to make just one point. Yahweh is using COVID-19 as a way to bring His people close to Him in advance of an event that has enormous significance in the spiritual battle that has been raging since Yahweh created Adam and Eve.

Israel is at the epicenter of that battle.

The Best or Worst is Yet to Come: It Depends on Your Relationship with Yahweh

Like I said, I can appreciate why believers want to pray to stop coronavirus in its tracks, but I think that’s the wrong way to pray. I think we should be asking Yahweh to make sure that we are in sync with Him.

Nobody can stop Yahweh from doing what He has promised to do, and Yahweh knows how to protect His people. Keep in mind that Yahweh may be using coronavirus to extend the window of opportunity that people have to repent. When He closes that window, it’s over. I can’t overemphasize that point, either.

This is how C.S. Lewis explained it in Mere Christianity:

“God will invade. But I wonder whether people who ask God to interfere openly and directly in our world quite realise what it will be like when He does. When that happens, it is the end of the world. When the author walks on to the stage the play is over. God is going to invade, all right: but what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else – something it never entered your head to conceive – comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us and so terrible to others that none of us will have any choice left? For this time it will God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realised it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last forever. We must take it or leave it.”
