“The Word of Yahweh Came to me…”

Below, I have listed several verses and passages in the Bible that talk about the Word of Yahweh coming to people either in Person or in a vision. It’s not an exhaustive list, but it’s long enough to make the points that I want to make:

Most of the time, when you see the phrase “the Word of Yahweh came to me…” in the Bible, it doesn’t refer to literal words. In most instances, it refers to a Person coming to deliver a message. That person is Yahweh.
The Messiah is the Word of Yahweh.

Genesis 15: 1-7

After these things the word of the Yahweh came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not fear, Abram, I am a shield to you. Your reward shall be very great.”

Abram said, “O Adonai Yahweh, what will You give me, since I am childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Since You have given no offspring to me, one born in my house is my heir.”

Then behold, the word of Yahweh came to him, saying, “This man will not be your heir; but one who will come forth from your own body, he shall be your heir.”

And He [the Word of Yahweh] took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

Then he [Abraham] believed in Yahweh; and He [Yahweh] reckoned it to him as righteousness. And He [Yahweh] said to him [Abraham], “I am Yahweh who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to possess it.”

Literal words did not take Abraham outside and tell him to count the stars. A Person did it. That Person is Yahweh.

Jeremiah 1: 4-5

Now the word of Yahweh came to me saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Abortion is murder.

Jeremiah 1: 11-12

The word of Yahweh came to me saying, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “I see a rod of an almond tree.” Then Yahweh said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.”

The Person Yahweh who is called “the Word of Yahweh” is watching over Yahweh’s literal words to perform them.

Jeremiah 1: 13-14

The word of Yahweh came to me a second time saying, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see a boiling pot, facing away from the north.” Then Yahweh said to me, “Out of the north the evil will break forth on all the inhabitants of the land.”

Jeremiah 13: 8-11

Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Just so will I destroy the pride of Judah and the great pride of Jerusalem. This wicked people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubbornness of their hearts and have gone after other gods to serve them and to bow down to them, let them be just like this waistband which is totally worthless. For as the waistband clings to the waist of a man, so I made the whole household of Israel and the whole household of Judah cling to Me,’ declares Yahweh, ‘that they might be for Me a people, for renown, for praise and for glory; but they did not listen.’”

This is still a problem today. Far too many in Israel and Judah aren’t listening to Yahweh.

Jeremiah 18: 5-12

Then the word of Yahweh came to me saying, “Can I not, O house of Israel, deal with you as this potter does?” declares Yahweh. “Behold, like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel. At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it. If that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I planned to bring on it. Or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it. If it does evil in My sight by not obeying My voice, then I will think better of the good with which I had promised to bless it. So now then, speak to the men of Judah and against the inhabitants of Jerusalem saying, ‘Thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I am fashioning calamity against you and devising a plan against you. Oh turn back, each of you from his evil way, and reform your ways and your deeds.”’ But they will say, ‘It’s hopeless! For we are going to follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”

Regrettably, most of Israel and Judah are still going their own way. They need to learn a simple lesson: It’s Yahweh, not your way. If they refuse to learn this lesson, they will suffer.

Ezekiel 3: 16-21

At the end of seven days the word of Yahweh came to me, saying, “Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself. Again, when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die. Since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. However, if you have warned the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning, and you have delivered yourself.”

Yahweh says what He means and He means what He says.

John 1: 1-5 and 14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim. He was in the beginning with Elohim. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it….And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word of Yahweh is the Creator, and the Messiah is the Word of Yahweh.

Revelation 19: 11-13

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True. In righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems. He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His Name is called The Word of Elohim.

Yahweh is Faithful and True.
