President Trump is Like a Timex Watch: He Takes a Licking and Keeps on Ticking

I’m enjoying every minute of the Trump presidency.  A Timex watch takes a licking and keeps on ticking.  So does President Trump.

If you believed the president’s critics, President Trump was going to get us into a nuclear war with North Korea.  That’s what they said.  LPDs (“liberal progressive” Democrats) in California were probably taking out loans to build bomb shelters.  Everything is expensive in California.  That’s just one of the reasons why people are fleeing the Golden State.

Turns out that President Trump did something that Barack Obama promised he would do but never did.  He is meeting with our enemies.  He met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.  Political prisoners have returned home already.  The bodies of U.S. soldiers missing in action in the Korean War will arrive soon.  The process of denuclearization has begun.  No one expects smooth sailing all the way, but the process has begun.

So much for LPD logic.

Chinese President Xi Jinping was a big help with North Korea.  President Trump calls Xi his friend and says that he likes the man a lot.  That didn’t prevent him from imposing tariffs on China for charging excessively high duties on U.S. goods exported to China, for stealing our intellectual property, and for forcing U.S. companies to take on Chinese partners if they wanted to build factories in China.

In unison, the president’s critics started screaming “free trade” as though we had free trade.  Fact is it wasn’t free trade.  It wasn’t even fair trade.  It was lopsided trade.  The U.S. was being taken to the cleaners by China, and President Trump told his good friend Xi that enough is enough.  We haven’t reached the end of the road on fair trade deals but we are well on our way.  Presidents before Trump begged China to play fair.  That didn’t work.

Insanity is doing the same thing again and again expecting a different outcome each time.  President Trump isn’t insane.  His critics are.

Before meeting with NATO leaders in Europe, President Trump met with G7 leaders in Canada.  He told the G7 group that the U.S. will not play by the rules that have been in effect since the end of World War II, because those rules ignore contemporary reality.  In essence, that’s the same thing he told President Xi.  Of course, the G7 crowd didn’t like it.  The old rules were lopsided in their favor.  Canada’s man-child prime minister waited for President Trump to leave before betraying him.  No matter.  Justin Trudeau is all hat and no cattle.  He’s a punk with a big mouth.

At home, President Trump’s critics said that he alienated our G7 allies.  He didn’t alienate them.  He told them the truth, and they didn’t like hearing it.  It’s the truth, nonetheless, and the sooner our G7 allies accept it the better off all of us will be.

Fact is the rules of the game are changing whether they like it or not.  They must change, because the U.S. can’t afford to continue letting our G7 allies take advantage of hard-working U.S. taxpayers.

The president is doing things that should have been done a long time ago, but no president had the courage to do it.  President Trump did it because it has to be done. That’s what we elected him to do, and he’s doing it without taking a salary.  That’s something no LPD would even consider.  They love lining their pockets at taxpayers’ expense.

No one has benefited more financially from their time in the White House than Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack and Michelle Obama.  That tells us everything we need to know about them.  They are takers, not givers, and they don’t give a damn about the law or the Constitution.  More on that subject at a later date.

President Trump is a leader.  “Leadership” is a word that the president’s critics can articulate, but they have no idea what it means.  To LPDs, leadership means talking a good game.  That’s why they love Obama.

Obama is a talker, not a doer.  His legacy as president will be reduced to zero before too much longer.  He’ll go down in history as an incompetent boob.  If he lives long enough, Jimmy Carter may be the only person around who is thankful that Obama was president.  It’s tough on Carter’s ego being at the bottom of the list.  Obama has taken Carter’s place.

On the way toward the Trump-Putin Summit, the president met with NATO leaders to reiterate the message he has been sending them since he took office.  It’s time for our NATO allies to live up to their promises.  It’s time for them to pay up.  They screamed and hollered, but the process of paying up has begun.  They have already kicked in between $30 billion and $40 billion, and more is on the way.  All of that money will be used to protect our NATO allies from external threats emanating primarily from Russia.

The president’s critics are many things, but creative is not one of them.  Again, they attacked him for alienating our allies.  If shaming our NATO allies into doing what they promised to do is alienating them, they should have been alienated a long time ago.

Presidents before Trump begged our NATO allies to pay up, but they didn’t.  It should come as no surprise that begging them didn’t alienate them.  It didn’t produce any results, either.  Now, we are getting results, and President Trump isn’t begging.  He’s telling.  That’s why they are “alienated”.

Vladimir Putin was next in line.  No one was allowed to sit in on the Trump-Putin Summit except interpreters, but the press conference after the meeting was all the president’s critics needed to attack.  It didn’t matter what the president said during the press conference.  Whatever he said was going to be enough.

“President Trump is soft on Russia,” they started screaming in unison. The stupidity of that argument should be obvious.

As I said, President Trump had just finished meeting with our NATO allies, and he had raised tens of billions of dollars to deal with the Russian threat.  Is that being soft on Russia?  I don’t think so, but there is more.

Under Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton gave Russia 20% of our uranium and pocketed hundreds of millions of dollars in cash.  LPDs had no problem with that, and they didn’t see it as being “soft on Russia”.

Barack Obama failed to do his job and allowed Russia to set up shop in Syria.  The human misery that Obama created resulted in a mass exodus of Syrian refugees who flooded Europe and to a lesser extent the U.S., and it gave Russia and Iran strongholds on Israel’s northern border.  LPDs didn’t have a problem with that, and they didn’t see it as being “soft on Russia”.

President Trump ignored warnings from Russia, Syria, and Iran and ordered the U.S. military to engage in the Syrian Civil War.  We are still engaged despite those warnings, and our military is making a difference.  Is that being “soft on Russia”?  I don’t think so.

Russia poisoned Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.  Sergei was a former Russian military officer and British spy who served as a double agent for Britain’s intelligence services.  Both of them survived, but President Trump ordered the closing of several Russian offices in the U.S. and sent several Russian “diplomats” packing.  No talk.  Just action.  Is that being “soft on Russia”?  Not in my book.

President Trump’s critics are comical and hysterical.  Nothing they say makes any sense, but that doesn’t keep them from attacking.  In a few days, the American people will see through the fog and understand that the president’s critics are full of manure, again.  It has happened so many times already that an intelligent person would have learned the lesson.  The president’s critics aren’t as smart as they like to believe.  Most of them are dimwits.

This is my advice to Never Trumpers.  If you had any sense, you would stop throwing boomerangs.

This is my advice to decent, hard-working Americans.  Support the president.  Look at the facts.  He’s doing a great job, and all of us are better off thanks to his efforts on our behalf.  The president’s critics are full of something, and it stinks.

Iran is next on President Trump’s list.  It’s no wonder that Iranian leaders are nervous.  They are watching the president, and they see what he’s doing.  He says what he means, and he means what he says.  That’s what makes Donald Trump different.  Palestinians are taking notice, too.  They are just beginning to feel the heat, but a lot more heat is heading their way unless they straighten up.

As I said, I’m enjoying every minute of this.  Finally, we have a president who means business.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
