Reuters—Facebook disables feature that let marketers target ‘Jew haters’:

Facebook said on Thursday it was temporarily disabling the ability of advertisers to target based on people’s self-reported education and job information after a report that those features allowed targeting based on anti-Semitic topics.

ProPublica, a non-profit news organization based in New York, reported hours earlier that Facebook’s self-service ad-buying platform had allowed marketers to target ads at people who, on their Facebook profile, had listed phrases such as “Jew hater” as their field of study or work.

Some 2,300 people had expressed interest in the topics “Jew hater,” “how to burn Jews” and “History of ‘why Jews ruin the world’,” according to ProPublica’s investigation.

Facebook, the world’s largest social network, confirmed the ProPublica investigation.

Once people put those phrases on their Facebook profiles, the anti-Semitic topics automatically migrated onto the company’s advertising platform, as if they were education or job data that would be useful to marketers, Facebook said.

“We are removing these self-reported targeting fields until we have the right processes in place to help prevent this issue,” Facebook said in a statement late on Thursday.

History is repeating itself. Insidious Jew hate is poking up its ugly head again all over the world.

It’s politically correct to think of groups like the KKK as the primary culprits, but that view is naïve, foolish, and dangerous.

Jew hate is the refuge of people with perverted minds, inferiority complexes, and evil desires. The KKK is one of many groups fitting the bill. As we know from its positions on issues, the Democrat Party falls into that category, too.

Islamists demonize Jews and Israel. The Democrat Party has become the champion of Islamists. In the process, it is giving Jew hate a cloak of acceptability and respectability. Ridiculing people with more common sense than they have by calling them “Islamophobes” is part of what I mean.

The Democrat Party is evil. In the early days of the KKK’s formation, people who called themselves Democrats were KKK activists.  That includes many leading Democrats, not just political functionaries.

The Democrat Party has been on the immoral side of most issues for decades. That is an irrefutable fact.  Stated another way, they can deny it, but they can’t refute it.  Facts prove the point.

For What It’s Worth

If Mark Zuckerberg asked me for advice, this is what I would tell him:

• Scale back your hubris.
• Show more humility.
• Stop thinking so much about how to run the country.
• Spend more time running Facebook.

That would benefit Facebook and the country.

I saw a report a few days ago that said 60% of U.S. citizens get all of their news from Facebook. Since I use Facebook, I know how dangerous that is.  That’s why I post news items most of the time.

Typical people who are Facebook informed are uninformed or misinformed.  That needs to change.

Mark Zuckerberg should spend his time working to improve Facebook so that people benefit from it.
