RT—Churches burnt, cemeteries desecrated: RT visits liberated town of Al-Qaryatayn, Syria:

After several days of heavy assault fighting, Syrian government troops and local militia have retaken the town of Al-Qaryatayn from Islamic State. As RT’s Lizzie Phelan traveled there, she found a devastated place.

Al-Qaryatayn had been held by terrorist groups since late August. The liberation of the city proclaimed April 3 came days after Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) was pushed out of the ancient city of Palmyra, 100km (60 miles) to the east.

The army expects Al-Qaryatayn to serve as a springboard for further advances against IS strongholds in eastern Syria.

“Al-Qaryatayn is at a junction that connects the Iraqi border with Palmyra and from Palmyra through to Damascus,” Ahmad Albuhamad, first lieutenant in the Tribesmen regiment, an ally of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), explained to RT.

With the ancient city of Palmyra now retaken, pro-government forces are pressing ahead with their campaign to cut off IS supply routes through the oil and gas-rich desert around the city, Phelan reports.

Al-Qaryatayn looks totally deserted – no sign of the hundreds who IS reportedly kidnapped there.

A fighter from a local tribe said the citizens were moved out long ago – to Raqqa, the de facto IS capital, where the terrorist group is most heavily entrenched.

“Most information shows that the kidnapped Christians from Al-Qaryatayn were taken to an ISIS prison under the Batath Dam [22km upstream from the city of Raqqa]. They put them under the dam to avoid being targeted by Russian and Syrian aircraft,” Ahmad Albuhamad said.

Al-Qaryatayn used to have a large Christian population. Now the signs of IS persecution are quite visible.

SnyderTalk Comment: Islamists are as much criminals as they are terrorists.  Why the world is coddling them is a mystery to me.

We are at war.  It’s not even a close call.

Anyone who believes that we are treating the Islamist problem appropriately is seriously uninformed.

Pinprick assaults won’t solve the problem.

Mark Woods—Colorado man wants to build a full-size replica of ancient Jerusalem:

An American entrepreneur and visionary is planning a huge – and very expensive – religious theme park that will take years to complete and cost tens of millions of dollars.

The development will be a full-scale replica of ancient Jerusalem on a 700-acre site near Colorado Springs. The plan is to build Herod’s Temple, the Antonia Fortress and Herod’s Palace, with Jesus’ crucifixion site, the High Priest’s palace and other smaller buildings.

Michael Kinlaw writes of the project: “This isn’t being built for profit. This isn’t being built for anything other than the developer wants to build something for the people of America and the people of the world that is built so well that it will require little maintenance and still stand 2,000 years from now.”

The Herod’s Temple website says: “We believe it is time for the Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths to have a place to visit in America where they can experience what it was like back in the days of ancient Jerusalem around the time of Jesus.”

The project will take 15 years to complete and cost around $100 million. Kinlaw believes it will attract large numbers of visitors and produce vast revenues for the Colorado Springs area.

SnyderTalk Comment: This is a great idea.

You can see a model of ancient Jerusalem right now at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

SnyderTalk Comment: This video of a beheading on the street in a “moderate” Muslim country was leaked out.

It’s real.  Things like this are taking place right now.

Don’t believe what you hear from Islam apologists.  They are not telling the truth.

I apologize for the gruesomeness of the video, but I can’t think of a better way to help people understand the truth than to show it to them.

Ordinary peaceful Muslims are as sickened by this as I am.  They aren’t really Muslims.

Real Muslims shout “Allahu Akbar” when they see things like this happening.

1: Jonathan Sacks—Anti-Zionism Is the New Anti-Semitism says Britain’s ex-Chief Rabbi:

On March 27, speaking to the Sunday Times, former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams expressed his concern at rising levels of anti-Semitism on British university campuses. There are, he said, “worrying echoes” of Germany in the 1930s. Two days later, in The Times, Chris Bryant, the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons and a senior member of the British Labour party, warned that the political left was increasingly questioning the right of the state of Israel to exist, a view he called a “not too subtle form of anti-Semitism.”

Across Europe, Jews are leaving. A survey in 2013 by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights showed that almost a third of Europe’s Jews have considered emigrating because of anti-Semitism, with numbers as high as 46 percent in France and 48 percent in Hungary.

Nor is this a problem in Europe alone. A 2015 survey of North American Jewish college students by Brandeis University found that three-quarters of respondents had been exposed to anti-Semitic rhetoric. One third had reported incidents of harassment because they were Jewish. Much of the intimidation on campus is stirred by “Israel Apartheid” weeks and the BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign against Israel. These have become what Easter was in the Middle Ages, a time for attacks against Jews.

2: Bassam Tawil—The Historic Betrayal of the Palestinians

We Palestinians, as a new people on the stage of history, have not yet learned from the experience of those who preceded us. We always seem to be motivated by factors working against us, and let ourselves be manipulated by foreign countries who use us as proxies to further their own interests.

We are making mistakes again, one after another. We do damage to the Palestinian national interest and instead of propelling ourselves forward, we push ourselves back. We work against our own best interests by constantly lying. We all know, for instance, that there is no truth to the claim that Jesus was a Palestinian, or when we say that the Jews have no historic links to Jerusalem. We just make ourselves look ridiculous. Whoever makes such claims not only attacks Christianity but also represents the entire Palestinian narrative as a blatant lie.

The Palestinian leadership continues to destroy every chance the Palestinians might have of becoming a genuine, internationally recognized nation by insisting on demands they know the Israelis will never meet. These include the right of return for more than 11 million Palestinians to a country of eight million, and refusing to recognize Israel as a Jewish state. The Israelis correctly understand both demands not as a desire to have a Palestinian state, but as a desire to have Israel’s state. That impression can only be confirmed every time anyone looks at a map of Palestine: by pure coincidence, of course, it is identical to the map of Israel, only the names are different.

3: Daniel Polisar—What Palestinians Think about the Knife Intifada:

Not a single leading figure in Israel’s current government or any of its predecessors has proposed building a synagogue on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, or suggested harming the Muslim holy sites that have stood on it for the past thirteen centuries. Similarly, no Israeli government has taken any steps that could plausibly be interpreted as indicating an interest in such actions. Yet none of this seems to have the slightest effect on the sense among most Palestinians that Israel aims to destroy the Muslim holy sites.

Among residents of the West Bank and Jerusalem, 57% said that most of the Palestinians who fell in attacks did not try to stab Israelis, despite the widely available videos of the stabbings, despite the fact that family members of many of the perpetrators publicly took pride in what they had done, and despite the fact that leading Palestinian figures and media often celebrated these attacks.

A December 2015 poll by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) found that 62% rejected a deal for a two-state solution modeled on the Clinton parameters, and 61% rejected the idea of mutual recognition between “Israel as the state of the Jewish people and Palestine as the state of the Palestinian people.”

What has changed is the belief that the attacks are an effective means of securing gains. In December, 51% thought that continuing the uprising would advance Palestinian rights in ways negotiations could not. By March, only 43 thought the current confrontations would serve Palestinian national interests more effectively than negotiations, while the figure in the West Bank decreased to 36%.

4: Nick Constable—Palestinian Terrorists Who Stabbed British Woman Each Receive 9,000 Pounds a Year with the Help of UK Aid:

Two Palestinian terrorists who repeatedly stabbed a British woman, Kay Wilson, and left her for dead, after killing her friend Kristine Luken in a brutal attack near Jerusalem, are now each receiving a monthly stipend of £750 with the help of UK aid. Wilson, 51, and her friend were hiking in the Judean Hills in 2010 when the two men pounced on them, believing both women to be Jewish, although Luken was Christian.

After tying the women up the terrorists launched a savage attack. Wilson said: “We were held for 30 minutes at knife point, then gagged and bound before being butchered with machetes. I watched my friend chopped up before my eyes, and only survived because I played dead, despite being stabbed 13 times and having over 30 bones broken by the sheer force of the blows.” Her life was saved by a Muslim Arab-Israeli surgeon.

5: AFP“Panama Papers” Show How Syria Regime Circumvented Sanctions:

Syria’s regime has been able to circumvent international sanctions and fund its war effort through shadow companies, according to leaked “Panama Papers” seen by French daily Le Monde.

The newspaper reported on Monday that three Syrian companies, Pangates International, Maxima Middle East Trading, and Morgan Additives Manufacturing, used the services of Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca to create shadow companies in the Seychelles.

Le Monde, a partner in the year-long worldwide media investigation into a trove of 11.5 million documents leaked from Mossack Fonseca, said the shadow companies were “a way for the Syrian regime to circumvent international sanctions imposed since the start of the war”.

The three firms are under US sanctions for allegedly providing petroleum supplies to President Bashar al-Assad’s regime likely to be used by his military, including aviation fuel.

SnyderTalk Comment:  The Mishkan is the Tabernacle.  It was used by the Children of Israel during their wilderness journey.  It stood in Shilo, Israel for almost 400 years.  Eventually, it was moved to Jerusalem.

It was stored away when King Solomon completed the Temple and still exists, but its location isn’t known with certainty.  Some people say that they have seen it.  One day, everyone will have the opportunity to see it.

A life-size replica of the Mishkan can be seen in Timna Park in Southern Israel near Eilat.  Noam Markman took Katie and me there several years ago.

Below is a picture of the replica:
