NPR—Why Europe Needs Turkey … And Turkey Needs Europe:

Europe and Turkey have been negotiating for decades on the kind of relationship they want, and they’re nowhere close to a final deal on that big question.

The limited agreement announced Friday on migrants reflects the relationship they have by default: mutual dependency that forces them to cooperate when faced with a crisis.

Europe needs Turkey to be a buffer that halts the surge of Syrian refugees, and more broadly, limits Middle Eastern chaos from spilling over into Europe.

Turkey needs greater access to Europe’s markets and was also swayed by the billions of dollars the European Union offered to help the Turks cope with the nearly 3 million refugees it has hosted. Turkey also demanded, and received, a lifting of visa restrictions on Turks entering the European Union.

If it works as planned, Greece will start sending back Syrian migrants who are arriving by sea from Turkey. For every one of these undocumented Syrians sent back, Europe will accept one Syrian asylum seeker in Turkey who has gone through the official channels. Meanwhile, Turks will be able to travel more freely in Europe.

Both sides compromised and it marked a victory for cooperation on a difficult issue. The main criticism has come from human rights groups, who say it short-changes refugees.

SnyderTalk Comment: See “US endorses refugee deal between Turkey, EU”.

This one needs to be watched closely.  Europe has enough problems.  They don’t need any more “help” from Erdogan.  He has done too much already.

See the video below.  Keep in mind that Erdogan is an Islamist.

1: Washington PostUS policy toward Israel called harmful to both countries at conference:

U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East was criticized as being unfairly tilted toward Israel, to the detriment of both countries, at a conference Friday examining whether pro-Israel lobbying groups have an undue influence on Congress and government agencies.

Several hundred people attended the event sponsored by the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, a D.C.-based magazine featuring articles questioning Israeli government policies and U.S. aid to the country.

The conference was timed to precede this weekend’s conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, a large, annual affair that this year will draw virtually all the presidential candidates as well as Vice President Biden.

2: Jerusalem PostIsrael rebukes ‘Time’ for calling Palestinian terrorist ‘graphic designer’:

Israel’s Government Press Office went public with a complaint against Time magazine Thursday, five months after the magazine published an article referring to a terrorist as a “graphic designer … killed by Israeli security forces,” with no mention of the people he murdered and injured.

Terrorist Baha Aliyan was shot by Israeli security forces after he and another Palestinian, Balal Abu-Janem, boarded the Route 78 bus in the Armon Hanatziv neighborhood of Jerusalem and launched a joint shooting and stabbing attack that killed three men – Alon Govberg, 51, Haim Haviv, 78, and Richard Lakin, 76 – and wounded 17 others.

On Oct. 15, Time‘s Rebecca Collard wrote: “On Tuesday, Allyan [sic], a graphic designer from the predominantly Palestinian neighborhood Jabel Mukaber, was killed by Israeli security forces after allegedly trying to carry out an attack in Jerusalem.”

In an article published on its website Thursday, the GPO wrote: “To our sorrow, repeated requests to Time magazine, initially by an Israeli NGO and subsequently by the GPO, have all failed to induce Time to correct the serious factual error in the Oct. 15 article.

“An Israeli NGO first approached Time magazine correspondent Rebecca Collard on Oct. 18 and received no response. The Government Press Office contacted Collard on Feb. 25, presented the facts and demanded a correction. Neither recognition nor correction of the erroneous article resulted.

“When contacted again, Time magazine correspondent Collard wrote to the GPO on March 4: ‘I’ve forwarded your concerns to my editors.’”

3: Nima Gholam Ali Pour—Sweden’s Palestinian Lobbyists

In recent years, aid that finances hatred against Israel has received much attention. Organizations such as NGO Monitor have shown time and again how European countries and international organizations provide financial support to projects in which the sole purpose is to spread lies about Israel and erode its legitimacy as a nation.

But the European war going on against Israel has deeper presence and is more widespread than just some European governments or international organizations providing assistance to organizations that are spreading hatred against Israel.

The Swedish municipality of Malmö, for instance, with only 318,000 inhabitants, is providing tens of thousands of dollars in tax revenues each year to organizations that spread extreme anti-Israeli messages.

4: CNNObama plans to campaign hard, with legacy on his mind:

Expect to see a whole lot of President Barack Obama this campaign season as he works to spell out what he sees as the stakes in the 2016 election and tries to defend his legacy.

As he approaches the end of his term in the midst of an election year that has been defined by heated, often controversial rhetoric coming from the leading Republican candidates, like GOP front-runner Donald Trump, the President is vowing to do all he can to make sure a Democrat replaces him at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He also wants to retake the Senate and win more seats in the House of Representatives.

So far, he has headlined 35 fundraisers since the 2014 midterm elections and he has already endorsed 10 candidates at the state level, according to the Democratic National Committee.

SnyderTalk Comment: If Hillary wins the presidency in 2016, she will seek to extend Obama’s legacy, so in fact, Obama is on the ballot.

It would be like the movie The Perfect Storm with a political twist. It wouldn’t be a sequel–no boats, but the ending would be similar.

5: Washington PostProtesters block the road to Donald Trump rally near Phoenix:

Donald Trump’s rally in the Phoenix suburbs on Saturday was briefly delayed as dozens of protesters carrying signs that denounced racism blocked an Arizona highway leading to the rally site.

The route was first blocked by a pair of pickup trucks decorated with banners reading “Comb Over Racism: Dump Trump” and “Shut Down Trump.” Dozens of protesters then filled in the roadway, carrying signs reading “Love Trumps Hate” and “Stand Against Racism.” One homemade sign said, “Combat White Supremacy.”

As the trucks were towed away, protesters formed a human wall. Traffic finally resumed after officers began arresting protesters.

SnyderTalk Comment: With each passing day, I become more convinced that Donald Trump is the right person to be the next president.  More than anyone else in the U.S., he understands what we are up against because they have done to him what they would like to do to anyone who voices an opinion that’s not their own.

For years, I’ve been telling my friends, family, and SnyderTalk readers that as a nation the U.S. is heading for trouble.  That day is upon us.

Think of it as the late-1960s and early-1970s on steroids. Most of us who lived during those days had no idea how messed up things were. Regrettably, many of us still don’t know how ridiculous it was.

There are a lot of similarities between Richard Nixon, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton.  There are differences, too.  Nixon knew that he was doing wrong, but he did it anyway.  Obama and Clinton don’t know how wicked they are.

Stupidity is part of our problem.  For example, importing unvetted Syrian “refugees” wasn’t just wrong.  It was dim-witted and bordering on treasonous.  I hope we don’t go the way of Europe, but that’s in the cards.

In 2008, Barack Obama told us that he would be the great uniter.  Instead, he turned out to be the most divisive president in our nation’s history.  Thanks to him, we have police officers fearing for their lives and wondering if they will become victims for simply enforcing the law.  That’s evil.

Our veterans are struggling to get by while we fork over huge sums of money to support illegal aliens. That’s hard to believe, but it’s the truth.

Islam has morphed into the most violent and malevolent movement since the Dark Ages.  Fascism isn’t a close second.  Even so, Obama has made Islamification of the U.S. Job One.  It’s the wrong thing to do at precisely the wrong time.

Donald Trump has had to confront Obama’s version of social justice every day on the campaign trail.  It’s lawless, self-centered, and dangerous.  What person is better prepared to run the country at this moment in history than the one who has been forced to endure an all-out assault from Team Obama?

No one.  Trump stands alone in that regard.

Philosophically there is no difference between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.  Both of them are dangerous people.

See “Trump’s immigration stance resonates at tense rallies”.  A lot of other things that Trump says resonate, as well.

6: ReutersBritish minister’s resignation set to sharpen EU debate:

British Prime Minister David Cameron was forced into a hasty cabinet reshuffle on Saturday as the dramatic resignation of a senior minister threatened to widen divisions over Europe within the ruling Conservative party.

The rancorous departure of Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith, a leading campaigner for Britain to quit the European Union, also deals a blow to the political ambitions of finance minister George Osborne, commentators said.

Cameron and Osborne are both urging Britons to vote to remain in the EU in a June 23 referendum but many Conservative lawmakers and activists favor a “Brexit”. The issue has riven the party for decades.

“The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me. Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” (John 17: 22-24)
