Michael Curtis—Jerusalem is in Israel:

International differences over territory and legitimacy of states are neither rare nor obscure, but the unparalleled number of religious, ethnic, symbolic, political, national, and legal factors concerning Jerusalem make it the most controversial and disputed issue.

The issue has divided the United States Supreme Court.  On June 8, 2015, in the case of Zivotofsky v. Secretary of State Kerry, the Supreme Court issued its ruling, in a 6-3 decision, in a complex constitutional law debate on the extent of presidential powers.  The Court faced the issues of whether the U.S. president has exclusive power to grant formal recognition to a foreign sovereign, and whether the U.S. Congress can decide foreign policy.  It discussed whether Congress can command the U.S. president and secretary of state to accept its decisions.

However, the context and real significance of the case were whether the city of Jerusalem should be regarded as a part of Israel. The son of Mr. Zivotofsky was born to United States citizens who were living in Jerusalem.  They asked the U.S. Embassy officials to list his place of birth as “Jerusalem, Israel.”  The officials refused to do so on the grounds that the U.S. does not recognize any country having sovereignty over Jerusalem.

Zivotofsky had made the request on the basis of Foreign Relations Authorization Act, Fiscal Year 2003, that stated that for “purposes of the registration of birth … or issuance of a passport of a United States citizen born in the city of Jerusalem, the Secretary [of State] shall upon the request of the citizen … record the place of birth as Israel.”  President George W. Bush signed the bill but expressed reservations about the passport provision.  President Barack Obama has maintained the same reservation.

In the case, to challenge the denial by the officials brought by Zivotofsky, the D.C. Circuit Court and then the U.S. Supreme Court held that the passport provision of the congressional statute was unconstitutional, concluding that it contradicted the exclusive power of the Executive Branch (the president) to recognize foreign sovereigns.

SnyderTalk Comment: The foolishness of those who think that they have the right to decide what country Jerusalem is in defies description.  That issue was settled long ago when Yahweh said that Jerusalem would forever remain Israel’s capital and the place where He will reside with His people.

Still, it’s no surprise that people continue to place themselves in Yahweh’s place.  It’s part of their plan to prevent Yahweh from fulfilling His promises.  They can’t succeed, but they will continue trying until the end.

Woe to those who defy Yahweh.  Their leader is Satan whether they know it or not.  Woe to them for taking part in Satan’s doomed quest.

I hope they wake up before it’s too late.

Jeff Jacoby: The case for Israel is rooted in more than security—Noses went out of joint and knickers got in a twist when Israel’s new deputy foreign minister delivered her inaugural speech to the Jewish state’s diplomatic corps. “We need to get back to the basic truth of our right to this land,” said Tzipi Hotovely, who is running the foreign ministry’s day-to-day operations, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu retains the title of foreign minister. The land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people, she declared, and their claim to it is as old as the Bible. “It’s important to say this” when making Israel’s case before the world, and not to focus solely on Israel’s security interests. Of course security is a profound concern, Hotovely observed, but arguments grounded in justice, morality, and deep historical rights are stronger. She even quoted the medieval Jewish sage Rashi, who wrote that Genesis opens with God’s creation of the world to preempt any subsequent charge that the Jewish claim to the land was without merit. Needless to say, Hotovely’s message was scorned on the left as primitive zealotry. “Her remarks raised eyebrows among many in the audience,” the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported. One diplomat said his colleagues “were in shock” at the suggestion that they should cite the Torah when advocating for Israel abroad.

SnyderTalk Comment:  I really like Tzipi Hotovely.  She’s grounded in facts that supersede contemporary diplomacy, but there is one thing that she and other Israeli Jews need to understand.  It comes from Yahweh Himself.

Yahweh didn’t promise the land to the tribe of Judah.  He promised it to the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob/Israel.  That includes all the Children of Israel, not just Jewish people.

Judah is a caretaker of the land at this point and a recipient of Yahweh’s promises along with many others who are not getting enough attention.  They come from the other tribes and Levi.  But Yahweh also included everyone who “calls on the Name of Yahweh.”  That’s something that most Jewish people refuse to do.

When the Jewish people in Israel realize how important that fact is and open their arms to their brothers who are not from Judah, they will be amazed at the response.

Jonathan Tobin: The Supreme Court Decision on Jerusalem Lets Obama Ignore Reality— The problem with American Middle East policy during the Obama administration has always boiled down to one factor: the president and his foreign policy team prefer their fantasies about the way things should be to the cold hard reality of Palestinian rejectionism, Islamist terror, or Iran’s ambitions for regional hegemony. That hasn’t worked out well for America or its allies, as the U.S. has suffered setback after setback with the collapse of revived peace negotiations that were doomed to fail, Hamas’ hold on Gaza, Iran’s growing power, and the rise of ISIS. But let it not be said that the president hasn’t won any victories. By siding with the administration in the case of Zivotofsky v. Kerry, the U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the executive branch’s constitutional power to recognize foreign governments. In this instance, that meant allowing the president to declare that, contrary to an act of Congress as well as the facts on the ground, Obama is entitled to pretend that the city of Jerusalem isn’t the capital of Israel or even part of the Jewish state.

Nadav Shragai: The Division Delusion—The possibility of dividing Jerusalem is removed from reality. The division of Jerusalem and removing its Arab neighborhoods from Israel could place the city’s residents in a much worse security situation, leaving the Jewish neighborhoods much more vulnerable. Division of the city would turn several neighborhoods into fringe border areas that would likely suffer from terrorist attacks and shelling attempts, similar to the experience of the Gilo neighborhood during 2000-2004, which came under fire from the Palestinian city of Beit Jala. While it is true that in the past few years dozens of Arabs from east Jerusalem have carried out terrorist attacks in the city, many more – hundreds – have been prevented thanks to Israel’s presence and intelligence operations in east Jerusalem. That work would not be feasible if the city were divided. Some 18,000 Jews leave Jerusalem every year, and only 10,000 move in. The main reason is the serious lack of available apartments and the high cost of existing housing. The lack of construction is due to diplomatic pressure.

Yonah Jeremy Bob: Analysis: Just how big a blow for Israel was the US Supreme Court’s passport decision?—Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Monday’s US Supreme Court decision nullifying a law allowing Americans born in Jerusalem to register the birth as taking place in Israel on their passport was that the law had been so close to being put into effect. The 6-3 decision immediately aroused strong feelings in the region, with Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat quickly appealing to US President Barack Obama to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and politicians linking the ruling with the growing menace of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) campaign. For its part, the Palestinian Authority said the decision sends a message to Israel that “Jerusalem is occupied territory.”

SnyderTalk Comment: In many ways, following the global discussion about so-called “Palestinian territories” in the media is like reading the Bible because the stage is being set for Yahweh to act/reappear.  Unbelievers think that’s hogwash, but they will learn the truth soon enough.

Don’t minimize the importance of this issue.  We are seeing things in our time that are talked about in the Bible whether people know/accept it or not.

Each one of us must decide whose side we are on.  I know who I believe/support.  I hope you do, too.

Abraham H. Miller: The Common Core of BDS and Campus Anti-Semitism—If you ask proponents of the BDS movement why they single out Israel, they will tell you that you have to start somewhere. But since its beginnings a decade ago, BDS has never been invoked against any other country. Common sense and decency asks how a self-described “human rights” movement can single-out the only democracy in the region, while ignoring the brutal treatment of women, minorities and members of the GLBTQ community in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan. Like Israel Apartheid Week, BDS is simply another campus anti-Semitic hate fest. When it comes to outlawing hate on campus, Jews are visibly the exception. Jewish history demonstrates that where anti-Semitism becomes legitimate, anti-Semitic violence follows. As Jews become the one campus group that administrators have deemed safe to target for hate, anti-Jewish campus violence is not a matter of if – but of when.

Michael Curtis: Put your (Palestinian) dreams away for another day— Sigmund Freud once wrote that artists’ creations were imaginary gratification of unconscious wishes, just as dreams are. He would not have been puzzled by the disturbing dream in Nablus that troubled Rev. Giles Fraser, the 50 year old Church of England priest at St. Mary’s, Newington in South London. We know from writers as diverse as W. B. Yeats and Delmore Schwartz that in dreams begin responsibilities and end in the shock of the recognition of reality. Unfortunately for many pro-Palestinian advocates dreams do not have that outcome. For those who persist in illusions of fantasy there is a helpful tool: the comprehensive, 947-page Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th ed. 2013. This work defines and classifies mental disorders in order to improve diagnoses, treatment, and research. It may prove of some value in understanding and correcting some of the pathological processes in the dreams, and in the mind, of some critics of the State of Israel.

SnyderTalk Comment: Thinking of support for the “Palestinian cause” as a mental disorder makes a lot of sense.

Peter Wehner: Obama’s Ongoing Obsession with Netanyahu— In an interview with Israel’s Channel 2 TV Network that aired on Tuesday, President Obama said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position on Palestinian statehood undermines the credibility of his country. As The Hill reports, “Netanyahu has recently expressed willingness to re-enter talks with Palestinians, but Obama said his stance contains “so many caveats, so many conditions, that it is not realistic to think that those conditions would be met any time in the near future.” “The danger here is that Israel as a whole loses credibility,” Obama said….The story went on to say, “the president suggested Palestinian officials and others might not see Netanyahu as a reliable negotiating partner.” Now that is rich. Palestinian officials don’t see Israel as a reliable negotiating partner. If only our president was able to distinguish the fire brigade from the fire.

Prof. Efraim Inbar: The Unrealistic European Peace Offensive— The Europeans have decided that the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Holy Land, now over one century long, must finally end. The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini came to Israel last week to convey EU impatience with the impasse in Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. France has signaled its intention to bring the matter to the UN Security Council in order to delineate the parameters for conflict resolution within 18 months. European intentions may be laudable, but seem far removed from Middle Eastern realities. While partition of the Land of Israel between the Jews and the Arabs living in this small part of the world is desirable, the Palestinian national movement has proved to be the wrong partner to implement partition and is largely responsible for the failure of the two state solution. The Palestinian national movement seems unable to reach a historic compromise with the Zionist movement. It still insists on exclusive control of the Temple Mount, on a “right of return” for refugees, and on removal of all Jewish presence in Judea and Samaria. Its media and education system perpetuates the conflict by teaching hatred of Jews and denigrating their links to the Land of Israel. Indeed, the gap in positions between Israelis and Palestinians is extremely large and cannot be bridged overnight. It is totally unrealistic to expect an agreement on final status issues in the near future.

Michael Curtis: Anti-Israeli Protestors Should Come with Clean Hands— Hypocrisy took the center stage inside and outside a theater in London in May 2015. A number of British theatrical people, actors, writers and directors, calling themselves Artists for Palestine, condemned those individuals who had protested the performance of the Palestinian play The Siege. The play, produced by the Freedom Theater Company, based in Jenin in the West Bank, had its premiere in Manchester, then opened in the Battersea Arts Center in London, playing to sold-out audiences, and then made a tour of British cities. The Palestinians were not without resources. British Arts Council, in reality British tax-payers, contributed £14,000 for the UK tour. The tour of Freedom Theater was supported by the FT UK Friends, which provided financial help from the British Shalom Salaam Trust, an arm of Jews for Justice for Palestinians, run by Zoe Lafferty, British co-director of the play, well known for her support of the BDS movement. Lafferty has remarked that the aim was to present the truth of what was happening on the ground.

Khaled Abu Toameh: How Anti-Israel Incitement Backfires— For several months now, the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Jordan have been strongly condemning visits by Jewish groups and individuals to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The PA and Jordan have accused the Jewish visitors of “desecrating” the Haram al-Sharif [Noble Sanctuary], the name used by Muslims to refer to the Temple Mount. The visits, which are held in coordination with the Jerusalem Police, are described by the PA and Jordan as attempts to “storm” the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The charges made by the PA leadership and Jordan have triggered a campaign by Muslims to foil the visits by Jews to the holy site. Almost every day, Muslim hecklers intercept the Jewish visitors by hurling abuse at them and chanting “Allahu Akbar” (“Allah is Greater”) in their faces. In some cases, Palestinians have thrown shoes at the Jewish visitors, including children.

SnyderTalk Comment: What Islamists are doing on the Temple Mount is disgraceful.  Let’s them get away with it is shameful.  That spot of ground belongs to Yahweh.  I hope and pray that He makes that clear to everyone soon.

Voice of America: Israeli PM Wants Arab States to Press Palestinians Back to Peace Talks— Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday he hoped Arab states could press the Palestinians to return to talks to reach a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Netanyahu, speaking to a strategic conference near Tel Aviv, blamed the Palestinians for the 14-month impasse in negotiations but said he felt there was a chance to renew them if the Palestinians could be persuaded. “There might be an opening because some of the Arab states silently agree with [my position] … [and] they might be in a position to influence the Palestinians to adopt a more conciliatory and positive approach,” he told the annual Herzliya Conference.

SnyderTalk Comment: The two-state solution is deader than a doornail.

It’s all politics and perception now.

Why not stop pretending?

Why not tell the truth?

That’s what Senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahhar did a few days ago.  As reported in Alresalah, the Gaza propaganda rag (a.k.a. newspaper), he said that Hamas refuses to accept a Palestinian state within the 1967 or 1948 territories.

Then al-Zahhar told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: “Our policy is Palestine, all of Palestine.”

Bibi Netanyahu knows that.  He wants to pacify Obama and European leaders who are threatening Israel with BDS and other things to get Israeli leaders to accept the unacceptable.

The crux of this issue is almost never discussed in the U.S. and European media.  Israel is not just another country.  It’s the Promised Land.  It’s called the Promised Land because Yahweh promised it to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob/Israel.

That includes the Israeli people living in Israel now who for the most part are from the tribe of Judah and others from the remaining tribes who are scattered around the world.  Because of Israeli politics, the other tribes get far too little attention, but all of the Children of Israel have a stake in this matter.

This is the bottom line: Yahweh will not allow any deal to stand if it interferes with the fulfillment of His promises.  Nothing can change that, and nothing that Netanyahu or any other political leader says or does will alter Yahweh’s stance in any way whatsoever.

So, why not tell the truth?

Shlomo Shamir: Diplomats: EU has Israel sanctions ready, and Uncle Sam may not be able to help—Israel wishes to delay the signing of a nuclear deal between world powers and Iran, but not solely because such an agreement would be dangerous to the Jewish State. The concern is that immediately following such an agreement, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will become the UN Security Council’s and European Union’s top priority, and the international community will be freed up to deal with the party it sees as responsible for the stagnation in the peace process – Israel. This is the widely-held assumption in off-the-record conversations among diplomatic sources in New York and in Washington. “A diplomatic attack against Israel is expected soon that will surprise even the pessimists in Jerusalem,” a senior Western diplomat told The Jerusalem Post’s Hebrew-language sister publication, Ma’ariv. “In the Security Council, in western capitals and at EU headquarters, they are just waiting for the Iran deal to be signed and for it to be approved by the American Congress.”

Zaki Shalom: The Obama Administration and the Israeli-Palestinian Political Process: A Change of Approach?— Recent statements by President Obama on the Israeli-Palestinian political process include a number of interesting and even new aspects. First, the President demonstrated a clear intention to maintain a balanced approach toward Israel and the Palestinians. Second, his comments reflected his inclination to draw away from his commitment to achieve a comprehensive Israeli-Palestinian agreement – a goal he had embraced since his entry into office. Rather, he expressed clear support for measured and limited steps, mainly of an economic nature, aimed at creating an atmosphere of trust and cooperation even in the absence of a political agreement. A further change was the President’s lack of reference to any set timetable for reaching an agreement. In addition, there was an absence of linkage between the political process and the Iranian issue. Nonetheless, President Obama continues to stress that he attributes great importance to progress regarding a two-state solution. Therefore, the administration will presumably restore this issue to the agenda when the negotiations between Iran and the world powers on the nuclear question are concluded.

John Podhoretz: A new inside account of Obama’s Israel ire— When it’s released June 23, the new book by bestselling historian Michael Oren is going to be the talk of Washington and Jerusalem — not to mention everywhere people take an interest in the relations between the United States and Israel, which is to say, in many if not most places on the planet. It’s called “Ally: My Journey Across the American-Israeli Divide,” and I’m not sure that in the annals of diplomatic history there’s ever been anything quite like this astonishing account of Oren’s four years (2009-2013) as Israel’s ambassador in Washington. It’s an ultimate insider’s story told while all the players save Oren are still in place; the Israeli prime minister he served still holds office and the administration to which he was the ambassador will remain in power until January 2017.

Daniel Greenfield: How Islam in America Became a Privileged Religion— What is Islam? The obvious dictionary definition answer is that it’s a religion, but legally speaking it actually enjoys all of the advantages of race, religion and culture with none of the disadvantages. Islam is a religion when mandating that employers accommodate the hijab, but when it comes time to bring it into the schools, places that are legally hostile to religion, American students are taught about Islam, visit mosques and even wear burkas and recite Islamic prayers to learn about another culture. Criticism of Islam is denounced as racist even though the one thing that Islam clearly isn’t is a race. Islamist organizations have figured out how lock in every advantage of race, religion and culture, while expeditiously shifting from one to the other to avoid any of the disadvantages. The biggest form of Muslim privilege has been to racialize Islam. The racialization of Islam has locked in all the advantages of racial status for a group that has no common race, only a common ideology.

Burak Bekdil: Turkish Fairy Tales from Uncle Tayyip— It is truly fascinating that Turkey’s Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, a professor of political science, believes that Jerusalem, built a millennium before the birth of Islam, is originally a Muslim city. And, according to the Turkish president, — Saudis should please not get offended — Jerusalem is the Muslims’ “most important Mecca.” Jerusalem has always had a spectacular place in a Turkish Islamist’s heart and mind. But pre-election fervour in Turkey has lifted “Jerusalem-fetish” to new heights. Turkey’s Islamists today look like Egypt’s second president, Gamal Abdel Nasser, a Pan-Arab nationalist, and his army commanders almost half a century ago. On May 16, 1967, Nasser ordered U.N. Emergency Force Commander, Indar Jit Rykhye, to evacuate his force from the Sinai buffer zone within 48 hours. When Rykhye asked one Egyptian commander if Egypt was aware of the consequences, the commander replied: “Oh sir, I’ll meet you at lunch in Tel Aviv.” The UN force left, and Egypt and Israel were left alone to fight the 1967 war. This author does not know where the Egyptian commander had lunch the next day, but definitely not in Tel Aviv. His words, however, may have inspired Turkey’s leaders.

Uzay Bulut: “Secular” Turkey— When many Western analysts discuss the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Turkey, they rightfully criticize it for its religious intolerance, authoritarianism and lack of respect for secular principles and minorities. They also tend to compare the AKP to former Kemalist governments, and draw a distinction between the Islamist AKP and former non-Islamist governments. They claim that Turkey was “secular” and somewhat “democratic,” until the AKP came to power. A deeper look into the history of Turkey, however, reveals that, unfortunately, Turkey has never been either truly secular or democratic. The modern Turkish state, since its founding in 1923, has never kept its hands off religion. It has engaged in religious matters on almost all levels — by institutionalizing Sunni Islam and by persecuting (or annihilating) other faiths. Intolerance, even hatred, for non-Muslims was openly promoted — even by the heads of the state — from day one.

Burak Bekdil: Turkey: “Home of Bad Jokes”—The Turks physically “conquered” Istanbul back in 1453, but pious Turks apparently think that if “conquest” is to be complete, all traces of “Christian heritage” must be wiped out. It is the same mindset that convinces Turks that Jerusalem, first built about 10 centuries before the birth of Islam, is a sacred Islamic city. With the possible reopening of the Hagia Sophia (originally a church) as a mosque, they will gather to pray for the liberation of the “holy Muslim city” of Jerusalem.

Uzay Bulut: Turkey’s View of Israel— A large number of the citizens of Turkey, a NATO member, see Israel and the United States as enemies. A survey conducted recently in Turkey found that nearly half the country’s citizens (42.6%) see Israel as the biggest security threat, followed by the United States (35.5%), and only then Syria (22.1%). How do they visualize Israel, a country with which they have made several military and trade agreements, as being a security threat? Do they think Israel would ever invade Turkey? Bomb Turkey? Nuke Turkey? This view seems to be based on either religion-induced paranoia caused by Islamic anti-Semitism, or else their understanding of reality has been distorted Nazi-style by Turkish leaders and the media.

Burak Bekdil: Turkey: Muslim Brothers’ Protector— What do Syria, Egypt and Libya have common? They are all at various degrees of cold war with Turkey, which they accuse of supporting the Muslim Brotherhood and similar Islamist terrorists in their countries. Turkey has never denied support, but claims that the Muslim Brothers, like Hamas, are just democratic elements in politics. In a span of only 24 hours, on August 13, 2013, Muslim Brotherhood militias attacked and destroyed 52 churches in Egypt. During the short-lived rule of their president, Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brothers, in well-documented incidents, threatened, attacked, kidnapped, tortured, beheaded and killed dozens, if not hundreds, of Christians, including a 10-year-old girl; and damaged and looted their property — until, after mass protests, Morsi was overthrown in 2013.

SnyderTalk Comment: See “Obama secretly backing Muslim Brotherhood”.

Soeren Kern: Asylum Seekers, Beheaders and Mega Mosques— In Austria, a new report from the Federal Criminal Police (Bundeskriminalamt) revealed that 34,070 illegal immigrants arrived in Austria in 2014, a 24% jump over 2013. Most of the migrants came from Syria, Iraq, Somalia, Eritrea and Kosovo. More than half, roughly 20,750 of the migrants, hired smugglers to bring them to Austria; the remainder arrived on their own. More than two-thirds of the migrants arrived from Italy (51.6%) and Hungary (34.4%). On April 7, Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz called on the European Union to launch a military operation against the Islamic State. He also called for a crackdown on so-called foreign fighters in Europe. Kurz said: “We are a militarily neutral country, but in terms of the Islamic State, our position is clear: Humanitarian aid for the victims is necessary, but much more needs to be done.”

Soeren Kern: Welfare Jihad in Europe— More than 30 Danish jihadists have collected unemployment benefits totaling 379,000 Danish krone (€51,000; $55,000) while fighting with the Islamic State in Syria, according to leaked intelligence documents. The fraud, which was reported by Television 2 Danmark on May 18, comes less than six months after the Danish newspaper BT revealed that Denmark had paid unemployment benefits to 28 other jihadists while they were waging war in Syria. The disclosures show that Islamists continue to exploit European social welfare systems to finance their activities both at home and abroad — costing European taxpayers potentially millions of euros each year. According to Television 2 Danmark, the welfare fraud was discovered after the Danish intelligence agency PET began sharing data about known Danish jihadists with the Ministry of Employment to determine if any of these individuals were receiving unemployment benefits.

Gilead Sher: Hamas Maneuvers in a Complex Theater— Hamas currently faces difficult challenges. First, it must advance the faltering, slow reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and raise the local standard of living. Second, it must improve its status vis-à-vis the leadership of the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority and narrow the divisive split between them. Third, it endeavors to maintain its military infrastructure, for use in a next round of conflict with Israel. At the same time, Hamas must contend with Salafi jihad groups in an escalating struggle. Finally, it must maneuver politically and economically in the complex space between political Islam/the Muslim Brotherhood; pragmatic Arab countries; and Iran, leader of the radical Shiite axis in the Middle East. Israel can pursue deliberate and cautious progress regarding reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, while conducting a dialogue with the official PA leadership and Egypt, and while taking advantage of the security interests it shares with moderate Arab countries opposed to the spread of Iranian influence in the region on the one hand, and the rise of the Islamic State on the other.

Universities Should Be Unsafe For Political Correctness— “The current code word being tossed around to protect political correctness from competition in the marketplace of ideas is ‘unsafe.’ ‘I feel unsafe’ has become the argument stopper on many university campuses. Efforts have been made to shut down controversial events or speakers, some of which have succeeded, at MIT, the University of Michigan, Northeastern University, Oxford, Hampshire College, Smith College, and other great universities, on the grounds that students would feel “unsafe.” Students must, of course, be and feel physically safe in their dorms, classrooms, and campuses. That’s what university and city police are for: to protect against physical assaults and threats. But no one on a university campus should be or feel safe or protected when it comes to the never-ending war of ideas.”

The “Speech-Denialists”—“In denying the average college student the opportunity to hear, think, question and learn, these minority organizations violated the basic principles of a liberal arts education and what higher learning should presumably be about: challenging assumptions and talking openly about issues that might cause discomfort. Both micro-sensitivity and political correctness require at best, obfuscating information, and at worst, silencing it.”

SnyderTalk Comment: I hate to say this, but today most universities are propaganda mills.  Their faculties think that they know what students should believe even though they are merely pumping their personal biases.  They are spending a lot of our money trying to create a world in their image.  It’s time to put a stop to it.

I’m reminded of something that William F. Buckley, Jr. said: “I would rather be governed by the first two thousand people in the Boston telephone directory than by the two thousand people on the faculty of Harvard University.”

As we say down South, he wasn’t just whistlin’ Dixie.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Luke 22

10 He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters, 11 and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’ 12 He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.” 13 They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover. 14 When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. 15 And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.” 17 After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” 19 And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 20 In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you. 21 But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table. 22 The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!” 23 They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

This is about Passover, not Easter.  It honors Yahweh, not Ishtar.

Why can’t Christian people everywhere see it?

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
