Rob Miller—NYT Admits Obama Deliberately Manufactured Netanyahu Spat:

President Barack Obama and his minions in the White House and the press have had a lot to say about how ‘disrespectful’ it was for Congress to invite Israeli PM Benyamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of congress without informing the White House. And how wrong it was for Netanyahu to accept when he knew the White House hadn’t been informed.

Read this correction, from The New York Times’ own website.

Correction: January 30, 2015—“An earlier version of this article misstated when Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel accepted Speaker John A. Boehner’s invitation to address Congress. He accepted after the administration had been informed of the invitation, not before.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Oh my.  The Obama administration is deceitful and diligently trying to undermine Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s bid for reelection because he is actually fighting Islamists who are threatening to annihilate Israel.  Imagine my surprise.

Netanyahu gave Obama a heads-up, but Obama said he never heard a thing.  Maybe he should take the wax out of his ears, or maybe he should just tell the truth.  I guess when your life is one big lie, it’s difficult to change your ways.

Obama will stop at nothing to prevent his narrative about Islam from being shown for what it is—unbelievably stupid.

His stubbornness is becoming the stuff of legend.  He’s often wrong but never in doubt.

Michael Doran: Obama’s Secret Iran Strategy— President Barack Obama wishes the Islamic Republic of Iran every success. Its leaders, he explained in a recent interview, stand at a crossroads. They can choose to press ahead with their nuclear program, thereby continuing to flout the will of the international community and further isolate their country; or they can accept limitations on their nuclear ambitions and enter an era of harmonious relations with the rest of the world. “They have a path to break through that isolation and they should seize it,” the president urged—because “if they do, there’s incredible talent and resources and sophistication . . . inside of Iran, and it would be a very successful regional power.” How eager is the president to see Iran break through its isolation and become a very successful regional power? Very eager. A year ago, Benjamin Rhodes, deputy national-security adviser for strategic communication and a key member of the president’s inner circle, shared some good news with a friendly group of Democratic-party activists. The November 2013 nuclear agreement between Tehran and the “P5+1”—the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany—represented, he said, not only “the best opportunity we’ve had to resolve the Iranian [nuclear] issue,” but “probably the biggest thing President Obama will do in his second term on foreign policy.” For the administration, Rhodes emphasized, “this is healthcare . . . , just to put it in context.” Unaware that he was being recorded, he then confided to his guests that Obama was planning to keep Congress in the dark and out of the picture: “We’re already kind of thinking through, how do we structure a deal so we don’t necessarily require legislative action right away.”

Moshe Phillips and Benyamin Korn: Iran Threat – When Principle Trumps Protocol— Are there circumstances under which breaching diplomatic protocol is justified, even if it offends a friendly government? In recent days, Obama administration officials have loudly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for accepting an invitation to address the United States Congress about the Iranian nuclear threat, without first consulting the White House. But one US official’s own track record on the subject raises some interesting questions. One may safely assume that Prime Minister Netanyahu realized, in advance, that the White House would vehemently object when the invitation was announced. After all, he has served as prime minister twice before, and has had to manage some occasionally rocky periods in the relationship between the Israeli and American governments.

Michael Curtis: Netanyahu should be shown respect by the White House— In a scarcely veiled and undiplomatic allusion to the “Jewish lobby,” President Barack Obama speaking on January 15, 2015 about the views of politicians who disagreed with him on the issue of sanctions against Iran, said he “understood the pressures that senators face from donors and others.” Equally offensive was his urging, in Olympian and disdainful terms, that members of Congress take the “long view rather than a move for short term gain.” He showed he is determined to “play offense.” The President has not explained why it is disrespectful to him to have an open discussion in a Congressional meeting of both Houses on his policy on Iran’s nuclear program or sanctions imposed on Iran, or why comments in that setting by a foreign leader are automatically distasteful and undiplomatic. The issue of Iran, difficult and controversial, is not above partisanship as the White House proclaims but is a crucial political one that must be debated. Indeed, Obama has shown his own partisanship by already announcing he will veto any additional sanctions proposed by Congress on Iran.

Raymond Ibrahim: Christmas Slaughter: Muslim Persecution of Christians, December 2014— “They chopped children in half. They chopped all heads off. How do you respond to that? That is what we have been going through. That is what we are going through.” — The Reverend Canon Andrew White, “Vicar of Baghdad”.  “At dawn on Christmas Day, the barbaric regime of Iran hanged 7 people in mass execution in Shiraz.” — NCR-Iran. There are always more and more frequent cases where the blasphemy law is used to target religious minorities or to settle cases of disputes or private rivalries, or simply as an instrument of blackmail.” — Shardar Mushtaq Gill, Pakistani Christian lawyer. Sudan’s security agents and police have “broad powers to arrest Christians and other lowly-regarded people without cause, for creating public disturbance. The Christians were released after paying a fine of $250 each.” — Morning Star News. Islamic law holds that new churches are never to be built in Muslim lands and existing ones never repaired. Even so, many of these partially wrecked churches continue to be used, and are even packed, during church services.

Zaki Shalom: The Iranian Nuclear Crisis and the U.S. Administration: The Dilemma of Sanctions in Light of the Effort to Promote an Agreement— In his State of the Union address on January 20, 2015, President Barack Obama stated that Iran’s progress toward achieving military nuclear capability had been halted and its stockpiles of materials with nuclear potential reduced as a result of the dialogue on the nuclear issue between the world powers (the P5+1) and Iran. Obama’s sentiments were reiterated by Secretary of State Kerry and U.S. ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power. This was the backdrop for the administration’s expressed dissatisfaction with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s intention to present his position on negotiations with Iran to Congress, creating a rather transparent linkage between Israel’s positions on negotiations with Iran and sanctions, and U.S. willingness to assist in combating the Palestinian attempt to exert international legal and diplomatic pressure on Israel.

Jonathan Tobin: Will Obama Give In to Iran? He Already Has.— Almost all of the coverage about the ongoing controversy about plans for Prime Minister Netanyahu to address Congress next month about sanctions on Iran has focused on allegations regarding inappropriate behavior from an ally and breaches of protocol. But an exchange of anonymous quotes from administration and Netanyahu government sources in the Israeli press this weekend should serve as a reminder of what is really at stake in the dispute. Israeli sources said the problem was that the deal that President Obama was working to conclude with Iran would allow it to keep several thousand of its centrifuges and allow it to “breakout” to a nuclear weapon in a matter of months. Anonymous American government sources replied that this was nonsense. But anyone who has been closely following informed coverage of the negotiations knows that far from being misleading, the Israelis are doing nothing but stating the obvious about an American willingness to let Iran become a nuclear threshold state. Rather than discussing Netanyahu’s chutzpah, Americans should be asking some of the same questions as the Israelis.

Ingrid Carlqvist and Lars Hedegaard: Sweden’s New Approach to Jihadis: Jobs!— While Denmark considers prosecuting jihadis for treason and Britain is thinking of taking away their citizenship, Sweden aims for dialogue and understanding. Social Democrat Mona Sahlin, Sweden’s national coordinator of the struggle against violent extremists, thinks it would be beneficial if local municipalities were to help them get an education and a job. Ms. Sahlin is far from a peripheral figure in Swedish politics. After the assassination of Social Democratic Prime Minister Olof Palme in 1987, his successor Ingvar Carlsson immediately chose Mona Sahlin, who had already served as government minister in several departments, as his crown princess. But in 1995, just as Carlsson announced his retirement, a scandal erupted involving Sahlin. The media revealed that she had been using government credit cards for her personal use, and she was forced to take a time-out from politics.

Yvette Alt Miller: Quiz: Political Change in the Middle East— 2015 has already seen some memorable political turnovers in the Middle East – and beyond. Rate your knowledge of recent developments. 1. Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah died on Thursday, January 22. Who succeeded him as Saudi head of state? A—Unclear. Elections have been scheduled for February 17, and parties are vying for the votes of Arabias’ 28 million citizens.  B—King Abdullah’s son, Prince Mutaib, succeeded his father as absolute monarch.  C—King Abdullah was replaced by his 79-year old half-brother, Prince Salman.  D—Abd Al-‘Aziz al-Wahuibi, head of the Saudi opposition party Umma, became President.  Answer: C—Since the death of Saudi Arabian founder King Abdulaziz in 1953, Saudi Arabia’s absolute rulers have all been one of his many sons. (There are no exact figures, but there seem to be about 45, from a number of wives.) While the Umma party did form as an opposition Saudi party in February, 2011, its ten founders were arrested a week later and sentenced to prison. International observers complained about irregularities in their trials; the treatment of party leader Abd Al-‘Azia al-Wahuibi was particularly problematic: tried in secret, he is currently held in a military hospital, where Saudi officials say he’s suffered a mental breakdown.

Samuel Westrop: UK: Isolating Britain’s Phony Moderates—“Leaders of the Muslim Community”— Muslim community groups have responded angrily to a government letter that urged British Imams and mosque officials to challenge “men of hate” who preach extremism. The letter — written by Eric Pickles, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and Lord Tariq Ahmad — was sent to mosques all over the country: “We must show our young people, who may be targeted, that extremists have nothing to offer them. We must show them that there are other ways to express disagreement: that their right to do so is dependent on the very freedoms that extremists seek to destroy. We must show them the multitude of statements of condemnation from British Muslims; show them these men of hate have no place in our mosques or any place of worship, and that they do not speak for Muslims in Britain or anywhere in the world.” In response, Muslim community groups described the letter as “patronising.”

S. Fred Singer: World price of oil — where is OPEC now?— The world price of crude oil, which has been around 100 dollars a barrel for the past 6 years, has suddenly collapsed and is now tending below 50 dollars.  Many are trying to understand this rapid decrease and have proposed various explanations. Of course, the ready explanation is simply in terms of supply and demand; but this just begs the question.  The supply of oil has increased sharply in recent months – mainly because of the prolific production of shale oil in the United States, thanks to the technologies of fracking and horizontal drilling.  In fact, the US is now the world’s largest producer of crude oil and US imports of oil have dropped to the lowest level in 10 years. At the same time, the demand for oil has not increased greatly — because of depressed economic conditions and more efficient use in cars and trucks throughout the world.  US imports peaked 10 years ago at 10 mbd [million barrels per day], about 50% of then-consumption, and have been dropping rapidly; Chinese imports have been rising steadily and now exceed 5 mbd.

Christopher Booker: Climategate, the sequel: How we are STILL being tricked with flawed data on global warming— Although it has been emerging for seven years or more, one of the most extraordinary scandals of our time has never hit the headlines. Yet another little example of it lately caught my eye when, in the wake of those excited claims that 2014 was “the hottest year on record”, I saw the headline on a climate blog: “Massive tampering with temperatures in South America”. The evidence on Notalotofpeopleknowthat, uncovered by Paul Homewood, was indeed striking. Puzzled by those “2014 hottest ever” claims, which were led by the most quoted of all the five official global temperature records – Nasa’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (Giss) – Homewood examined a place in the world where Giss was showing temperatures to have risen faster than almost anywhere else: a large chunk of South America stretching from Brazil to Paraguay.

Timothy Garton Ash: Putin must be stopped. And sometimes only guns can stop guns— Vladimir Putin is the Slobodan Milošević of the former Soviet Union: as bad, but bigger. Behind a smokescreen of lies he has renewed his drive to carve out a puppet para-state in eastern Ukraine. Innocent bystanders are killed in the Black Sea port of Mariupol. In besieged Debaltseve, a woman scoops water from a giant puddle in the road. The rubble that was once Donetsk airport recalls a scene from martyred Syria. About 5,000 people have already been killed in this armed conflict, and more than 500,000 uprooted. Preoccupied by Greece and the eurozone, Europe is letting another Bosnia happen in its own front yard. Wake up, Europe. If we have learned anything from our own history, Putin must be stopped. But how? In the end, there will have to be a negotiated solution. German chancellor Angela Merkel and foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier have been right to keep trying diplomacy, but even they concluded in mid-January that it wasn’t worth going to meet Putin in Kazakhstan. On Saturday another attempt to agree a ceasefire failed in Minsk. Diplomacy’s time will come again, but it is not now.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 47: 13-19

13 Now there was no food in all the land, because the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. 14 Joseph gathered all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan for the grain which they bought, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house. 15 When the money was all spent in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us food, for why should we die in your presence? For our money is gone.” 16 Then Joseph said, “Give up your livestock, and I will give you food for your livestock, since your money is gone.” 17 So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them food in exchange for the horses and the flocks and the herds and the donkeys; and he fed them with food in exchange for all their livestock that year. 18 When that year was ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, “We will not hide from my lord that our money is all spent, and the cattle are my lord’s. There is nothing left for my lord except our bodies and our lands. 19 Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we and our land will be slaves to Pharaoh. So give us seed, that we may live and not die, and that the land may not be desolate.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
