Burak Bekdil—A Turkish Quest to “Liberate” Jerusalem:

Turks have a different understanding of what constitutes an occupation and a conquest of a city. The Turkish rule is very simple: The capture of a foreign city by force is an occupation if that city is Turkish (or Muslim) and the capture of a city by force is conquest if the city belongs to a foreign nation (or non-Muslims).

For instance, Turks still think the capture of Istanbul in 1453 was not occupation; it was conquest.

In a 2012 speech, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (then Prime Minister) said: “Just like Mecca, Cairo and Istanbul are cities of the Qur’an.” In truth, there is no mention of any city’s name in the Qur’an. Never mind.

“Conquest,” Turkey’s top Muslim cleric, Professor Mehmet Gormez, declared in 2012, “is not to occupy lands or destroy cities and castles. Conquest is the conquest of hearts!” That is why, the top Turkish cleric said, “In our history there has never been occupation.” Instead, Professor Gormez said, “in our history, there has always been conquest.” He further explained that one pillar of conquest is to “open up minds to Islam, and hearts to the Qur’an.”

It is in this religious justification that most Turkish Islamists think they have an Allah-given right to take infidel lands by the force of sword — ironically, not much different from what the tougher Islamists have been doing in large parts of Syria and Iraq. Ask any commander in the Islamic State and he would tell you what the jihadists are doing there is “opening up minds to Islam, and hearts to the Qur’an.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Keep your eyes on Turkey.  Her role in the coming battle is taking shape in front of our eyes.

We’ve known where Iran stands for more than 3 decades, but the change in Turkey was accomplished swiftly and without a revolution.  The Turkish people chose this direction, so they are responsible.

I fear for my former Turkish students because they may become victims of the Islamist storm troopers who are gathering in their midst.  By acquiescing, though, they have taken sides against Yahweh, and that’s a terrible place to be.  Islamists can take their lives, but Yahweh can take their lives and send them to hell for eternity.

President Erdogan has set Turkey on a course that leads to destruction.  I have a hunch that they may have passed the point of no return already, but Yahweh is merciful.  If they repent, He will spare them.  If they don’t repent, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Burak Bekdil: “Zionist” Olive Trees in Turkey—  Islamists often come in two flavors: Those who would decapitate an infidel, take out his heart and eat it in front of cameras, like the jihadists in Syria; and those who have the same sentiments and goals but pursue smarter means to Islamize the whole universe through “de jure” methods, including the ballot box. Turkey’s leaders fall into the second category, but some Turks these days feature a third flavor: Non-Violent Idiocy. Hamas’s infamous charter, proclaimed in 1988, is a must-read for self-declared Western intellectuals who tend to “angelize” the terrorist group in order, often, to reinforce their own intellectual identities. The charter (or the Covenant) calls for the eventual creation of an “Islamic state in Palestine in place of Israel and the Palestinian territories, and the obliteration or dissolution of Israel.”

Noah Beck: Iran’s Letter to Obama: Thanks for the Nukes!— Dear President Obama, You’ve been a great friend for the last six years and, to express our appreciation, we’d like to acknowledge some of your many helpful actions: 1) In 2009, our presidential election results were so dubious that millions of brave, pro-democracy protesters risked their lives to demonstrate throughout our country. When our Basij paramilitary force brutalized them, you kept your response irrelevantly mild for the sake of “engaging” us. That surely helped Iranians understand the risks of protesting our “free” election of 2012 (involving our eight handpicked candidates). It was indeed a very orderly rubberstamp. 2) After eight years of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, we KNEW you’d fall for the smiles of his successor, President Hassan Rouhani! Human rights abuses have actually worsened under his rule and his polished charm only makes him better at duping the world into acquiescing to our nukes, so we LOVE how you’ve overlooked these facts.

Alan M. Dershowitz: Will the newly elected Congress push Obama into being tougher on Iran’s nuclear weapons program?— Now that both Houses of Congress are under the control of Republicans, will President Obama have as free a hand in making a deal with the Iranian mullahs regarding their nuclear weapons program? Many members of Congress, in both chambers and on both sides of the aisle, believe that President Obama is willing to allow Iran to become a threshold nuclear weapons power, as long as they don’t actually develop a nuclear bomb during his watch. Israeli leaders, both in the majority and in opposition fear the same thing. Nobody wants to see a nuclear armed Iran, and few want to see a military attack on Iran’s nuclear weapons program, except as an absolute last resort. Everyone would like to see a good deal that assures the world that Iran will never develop nuclear weapons, and in return for that assurance ends the crippling sanctions against the Iranian people. The questions are what sort of a deal will bring us closer to this desirable outcome, and are the United States and its European allies demanding enough from Iran to assure compliance with a commitment not to weaponize its “civilian” program. The newly elected Congress would like to play a role in addressing these questions, but the White House insists that the constitution empowers the executive branch alone—the president, his cabinet and his staff—to conduct the foreign policy of the United States. The White House is wrong.

Howard LaFranchi: Islamic State beheading videos might now be backfiring—Beyond its barbarity, the latest beheading video from the Islamic State offers hints of an organization in transition and perhaps under duress. Unlike earlier videos of the beheadings of four Westerners by IS executioners, the latest video is devoid of the slick production quality that had [counterterrorism] experts touting the group’s media savvy. The apparently hasty filming of the final segment, which shows evidence of the beheading of American aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, tells some analysts that IS, now under threat of US bombing and surveillance, no longer has ample time to produce a professional video outdoors.

Lt. Col. (ret.) Jonathan D. Halevi: The Hidden Hand of ISIS and Its Impact on Palestinian Escalation—The message of Islamic awakening, seen in the announcement of the establishment of the Islamic caliphate by Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, embodies the dream of resurrecting the glory days of Islam. It exerts a strong pull on the Palestinian public, which is traditionally attracted to any force declaring a pretense to liberate Palestine. In the new Middle East, increasingly Islamic in character, the winds of jihad are sweeping the masses. This message would appear to be the main driving force behind the recent wave of Palestinian violence, not born of political or economic despair, but rather hopeful of cracking Israeli confidence and realizing the dream of the liberation of Palestine from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River with Jerusalem as the capital of the caliphate. These are also the principles expressed by leaders of the Islamic movement within the State of Israel, who identify with the Muslim Brotherhood. The more the Islamic caliphate continues to strengthen, the greater the chances are of the collapse of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and the expansion of Palestinian violence towards Israel.

Samuel Westrop: The Church of England Chooses Extremist Islam— A British Muslim activist is to speak before the Church of England’s general synod on November 18 — the first time a non-Christian has addressed the assembly. Counter-extremism campaigners, however, have expressed disappointment that the Church would choose an activist accused of connections with extremist groups. Fuad Nahdi, director of the British Islamic organization Radical Middle Way [RMW], has a long history of working with activists and groups tied to the Muslim Brotherhood, described by the former head of the MI6 as being, “at heart, a terrorist organization;” and Jamaat-e-Islami, the Brotherhood’s South Asian cousin, responsible for acts of genocide during Bangladesh’s 1971 Independence war.

Jonathan Tobin: Wage war, have the world give you billions – Oh, you didn’t know? –Last month, a group of international donors including the United States gathered in Cairo to make pledges to give financial aid to help rebuild Gaza in the wake of the war between Israel and Hamas this past summer. The amount pledged totaled $5.4 billion with the U.S. kicking in a few hundred million. The bulk of the money will go to aid organizations with the Palestinian Authority also getting a share. While the world was told that all the money would be used for civilian purposes and to help those who lost their homes in the fighting, there was little doubt that the Hamas rulers of the strip would wind up getting their hands on a good deal of it. But the most curious thing about this exercise in international philanthropy was that no one thought to ask Hamas to pay for at least some of the damage they caused by igniting a bloody war.

Abraham H. Miller: Free Speech v. Political Correctness— Each year, the University of California hosts a lecture in honor of Mario Savio. On December 2, 1964, Mario Savio stood on the steps of Berkeley’s Sproul Hall and launched into an unrehearsed speech, often considered one of the best 100 of the century. The speech would make him the voice of what became known as the Free Speech Movement. Throughout Berkeley, the Free Speech Movement [FSM] represented a strong part of Berkeley’s historic and cultural identity. The FSM, however, seems to have evolved into its opposite, a censorship by others or of oneself, disguised as political correctness. It is an ideology that makes sensitivity to the feelings of the “previously excluded” trump basic rights.

Oded Eran: The Limited View from the Amman Summit— The hastily-arranged summit in Amman on November 13, 2014 produced the desired – albeit short term – benefits.  King Abdullah appeared to be a voice of responsibility and moderation in an otherwise tense, hostile, and volatile region. He reemphasized his role as custodian of the Islamic holy sites in Jerusalem, a reliable partner of the United States, and a key ally in the battle against ISIS. However, the results of the summit should be seen as tenuous and temporary. Lip service was paid to efforts to resume a peace process, and attempts to deal with a single issue such as the Temple Mount in the absence of a broader framework may prove insufficient. The summit was therefore a noble effort to calm the situation on a very limited basis, and Prime Minister Netanyahu may not have had much choice in deciding whether to attend. Nonetheless, there is still a need to look at the clouds gathering over the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Michael Freund: From Gaza to Catalonia: Europe’s insufferable hypocrisy— This past Saturday, European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini set a world record for diplomatic duplicity and haste. Barely seven days after assuming her new post, the former Italian foreign minister rushed to pay a visit to Gaza and Ramallah, where she managed to call for the division of Jerusalem, denounce housing construction for Jews in Judea and Samaria, and insist on the establishment of a Palestinian state. Mustering up all the moral bluster that European diplomats are so fond of, she did not hesitate to lecture Israel, as if she knew better than the Jewish state what its own national interests might be. Dead Syrians may be littering the streets of Aleppo while Islamic State is busy beheading Kurds and Christians in Iraq, and Saudi women might be struggling to be allowed to drive cars, but Mogherini appears to have a one-track mind when it comes to the Middle East. And it revolves only around Israel. This is European hypocrisy of the highest order. It is sickening in its scope and magnitude. And it is time for it to stop.

SnyderTalk Comment: “Make peace.”  That sounds so simple, so compelling, and so logical, but it translates into giving in to Palestinian demands that fly in the face of Yahweh’s promises to and about Israel and the Jewish people.

The people of Israel are being told by Europeans to choose sides.  They can go along with European leaders and defy Yahweh, or they can turn to Yahweh and reject European demands that they accept peace at any price Chamberlain style.

In the end, the people of Israel will make the right decision, but they may not do it until they have no options left.  Thankfully, we are almost at that point now.

Egypt to expand buffer zone with Gaza after longer tunnels found

SnyderTalk Comment: The irony is almost unbelievable.  Egypt is a Muslim country.  Many of its citizens have close ties with people who live in Gaza under Hamas control, but Egypt is creating a buffer zone between the Sinai and Gaza to contain the violence that Gazans under Hamas leadership perpetrate.  They are doing it for their own security.

At the same time, European leaders are demanding that Israel welcome Hamas and Fatah with open arms.  It’s the most preposterous thing that I’ve ever seen.

Preposterous isn’t strong enough.  It’s insane.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 37: 29-36

Now Reuben returned to the pit, and behold, Joseph was not in the pit; so he tore his garments. He returned to his brothers and said, “The boy is not there; as for me, where am I to go?” So they took Joseph’s tunic, and slaughtered a male goat and dipped the tunic in the blood; and they sent the varicolored tunic and brought it to their father and said, “We found this; please examine it to see whether it is your son’s tunic or not.” Then he examined it and said, “It is my son’s tunic. A wild beast has devoured him; Joseph has surely been torn to pieces!” So Jacob tore his clothes, and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days. Then all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. And he said, “Surely I will go down to Sheol in mourning for my son.” So his father wept for him. Meanwhile, the Midianites sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, Pharaoh’s officer, the captain of the bodyguard.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
