Alastair Jamieson—Why Is Britain a Breeding Ground for ISIS Terrorists?:

The voice of an apparent British militant narrating the video showing the beheading of American journalist James Foley has triggered renewed questions about why the U.K. is a breeding ground for jihadis.

At least 400 Britons are among the estimated 2,000 Europeans who are fighting for the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), according to Prime Minister David Cameron. And the ease with which Europeans can travel into Syria through Turkey has alarmed intelligence officials in the West.

On Thursday, NBC News reported that three militants with British accents had been dubbed “The Beatles” by hostages taken in Syria. A person close to several recent hostage negotiations said “The Beatles” were harsher than other guards. “Whenever the Beatles showed up, there was some kind of physical beating or torture,” the source added.

Britain has a “deeply entrenched problem,” according to the Quillam Foundation, an anti-extremist think tank. “London historically has had Islamist ideology being taught openly without being challenged and there are many people who have grown up knowing and believing that the only way to be Muslims is to create this Islamic state,” said Harris Rafiq, Quilliam’s head of outreach. “It’s not surprising that jihadis have been able to cherry-pick these people.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Britain is experiencing the consequence of government that has lost its bearings and a welfare state that pays people (Muslims in this instance) to have babies and produce nothing.  On top of that, British officials have been negligent about investigating criminal activity in the Muslim community and holding culprits accountable.  The U.S. could learn a lesson from the Brits.

Shmuley Boteach: NO HOLDS BARRED: Fortress Israel— Israel is hunkering down, but instead of feeling defeated, it’s getting ready to take on the world. My visit to Israel during this war has shown me that Israeli leaders of every stripe, from Left to Right, feel embattled, besieged, beleaguered. But also defiant and unbroken. They are already building ramparts for Fortress Israel. The world, the feeling goes, is turning on us as never before. Our outreach to the nations, especially Europe, has failed completely. They are solidly anti-Israel or anti-Semitic, with little distinction between the two.

Jackie Jesko and Alex Waterfield: London’s Culture War: Inside the Conflict Between Far-Right EDL and Pro-Islamic Radicals— A notorious British protest movement called The English Defense League has declared war on radical Islam, a battle they are taking to the streets in rowdy, often violent protests. Their founder, Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, goes by the alias, “Tommy Robinson.” He claims that his group is not anti-Muslim, but several of his followers have been connected to hate attacks like mosque bombings. Robinson said the gruesome murder of Lee Rigby was the “tipping point” that spurred the group to rise in prominence. Last May, two knife-wielding Muslim men savagely attacked and beheaded Rigby, a British soldier, on the streets of London in broad daylight, telling eyewitnesses the killing was “an eye for an eye … because Muslims are dying by British soldiers every day.”

SnyderTalk Comment: This is what happens when government fails to do its job.  The trouble is only beginning in Europe, and it’s coming to the United States.  All you have to do is connect the dots.

George Igler: Anti-Semitism in Britain: ‘Sit Up and Take Notice’— A striking feature of the rising tide of anti-Semitism in Britain is the silence with which the country’s leaders are choosing to respond to a growing climate of hatred and intimidation, directed not only at Jews themselves, but increasingly anything remotely Jewish. According to a report published in July by the Community Security Trust, a charity established to ensure the safety of the Jewish community in 1994, even though four out of every five anti-Semitic attacks usually take place “in the main Jewish centers of Greater London and Greater Manchester,” violent assaults against Jews and symbols of Judaism are also now taking place nationwide.

Robert Fisk: Middle East crisis: We know all too much about the cruelty of Isis – but all too little about who they are— For centuries, governments told their soldiers and their people to “Know Your Enemy”. The problem with the Isis “Caliphate” – and it is a big problem for President Obama after journalist James Foley’s murder – is that we don’t know who it is. We are told of its butchery, cruelty, its kidnapping of women, its burying alive, its viciousness towards Christians and Yazidis and its public beheadings, but that is all. Even the Isis leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, comes across as a mad combination of the Mahdi who murdered Gordon of Khartoum, the assassinated Osama bin Laden and Oliver Cromwell, who did to the civilians of Drogheda what the Muslim Lord Protector al-Baghdadi has done to his enemies. Foley’s ritual slaughter is enough to dissuade even the most foolhardy of journalists from seeking an interview with al-Baghdadi. Never before in the Middle East has so much land been out of bounds to the Western media. So ignorant are we of this Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant – a dark land in which the reports we see of it are their own phone videos – that the Obamas, Camerons and Hammonds can only gnash their teeth at this unspeakable enemy.

Robert Spencer: ‘Barack Obama and David Cameron do not dare, even now, tell the truth about what Islamic State (or IS) are, or what motivates them’— Robin Harris argues here for increased U.S. and U.K. military action, combined with active aid to trustworthy local factions. The problem with this is that no local factions favor pluralism and Western-style republican rule. Massive military intervention would just be a holding action postponing the fighting of various Sunni and Shi’ite factions, as it was before. There would have to be a massive change in the political culture of both countries, which is not on the horizon, before such an intervention could even have the possibility of being genuinely effective. But Harris is certainly correct that Obama, Cameron and other Western leaders don’t dare explain clearly or confront what the Islamic State is all about, for to do so would expose the catastrophic errors of the analyses on which both their countries have based key foreign policy decisions for years. “ROBIN HARRIS: Our leaders are in denial about this Islamic revolution because it exposes their own naivety,” by Robin Harris, Daily Mail, August 11, 2014.

The Algemeiner: Obama Should Not be ‘Agitating’ While Israel is Under Fire— The Obama administration should not be pushing its agenda on Israel while the Jewish state’s citizens are facing rocket fire from Gaza and are in the midst of a military campaign to address the threat, The Algemeiner Editor Dovid Efune said in a recent debate on i24 News at Jerusalem’s Jaffa Port. “For the president – now – to be agitating – even if he has differences of opinion, now is not the time,” Efune said. “Israeli citizens are under fire; Israel has a right – not only a right but a moral duty to defend its own citizens. And right now the president should be supporting.”

Julie Hirschfeld Davis: Behind Closed Doors, Obama Crafts Executive Actions—When President Obama announced in June that he planned to bypass congressional gridlock and overhaul the nation’s immigration system on his own, he did so in a most public way: a speech in the White House Rose Garden. Since then, the process of drafting what will likely be the only significant immigration changes of his presidency — and his most consequential use of executive power — has been conducted almost entirely behind closed doors, where lobbyists and interest groups invited to the White House are making their case out of public view.

Daniel Pipes: Is CAIR Lying about a Rally for Hamas?— A “Stop the Bloodshed in Gaza” rally in downtown Miami on July 20 featured aggressive Islamist chants typical of anti-Israel events. In English, the demonstrators yelled “We are Hamas!” and “We are Jihad!” (as can be seen and heard here). In Hebrew, a Hamas partisan screamed at an Israel-supporter, “Son of a bitch” and “Go to Hell!” and made an obscene arm gesture. In Arabic, the crowd chanted the infamous “Khaybar, Khaybar, oh Jew, Muhammad’s army will return” (a reference to a massacre of Jews under the auspices of Islam’s prophet in A.D. 629). As I say, just a typical anti-Israel demonstration, and far from the worst. Typical – except that some of its sponsors desperately seek respectability. In a July 23 report on the demonstration, investigative researcher Danielle Avel posted a scan of a glossy paper flier advertising the event, listing its seven sponsors: “American Muslim Association of North America (AMANA), Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Florida, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), Syrian American Council of South Florida (SAC), American Muslims for Emergency & Relief (AMER), and American Muslims Foundation.”

Taube Brahms: An Open Thank You Letter to Hollywood’s Ryan Kavanaugh— Recently, Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh became the first major Hollywood executive to publicly oppose a letter condemning Israel signed by Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz. “It makes my blood boil,” Kavanaugh told The Hollywood Reporter. “As the grandson of Holocaust survivors, anyone calling it Israeli ‘genocide’ vs. protecting themselves are either the most ignorant people about the situation and shouldn’t be commenting, or are truly anti-Semitic.”

SnyderTalk Comment: Ignorance and anti-Semitism and I would add self-absorption and greed go hand-in-hand.  Together, they are a deadly combination.

Lawrence Katz: Obama’s antagonism toward Israel is evident— President Obama’s longstanding antagonism toward Benjamin Netanyahu and his unjust criticism of Israel’s conduct of the war with Hamas creates a quandary for many Jewish Americans, especially stanch supporters and financial contributors to Obama and the Democratic Party. Regardless of his public pronouncements, administration sympathies support the Hamas-controlled Palestinian government. Secretary of State John Kerry even counseled Israel in his latest ”cease-fire proposal” to refrain from destroying tunnels used by terrorists to attack innocent men, women and children.

SnyderTalk Comment: President Obama’s animosity toward Israel has been evident since the day he took office, and it keeps getting worse.  I believe that Obama’s close ties with Turkey’s Prime Minister Erdogan and Erdogan’s antipathy toward Israel are closely related.  At the very least, their relationship raises serious questions in my mind about Obama’s true inclinations.

If Obama were not President of the United States, I don’t think he could get a security clearance.  That frightens me because he sits atop the U.S. intelligence apparatus, and he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he will divulge top secret information when it suits him.

That’s exactly what he did when he released information about our failed attempt to rescue American hostages in Syria.  The only reason he did it that makes any sense is that he was trying to boost his political popularity because his polling numbers have fallen so drastically.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 26: 26-35

26 Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with his adviser Ahuzzath and Phicol the commander of his army. 27 Isaac said to them, “Why have you come to me, since you hate me and have sent me away from you?” 28 They said, “We see plainly that Yahweh has been with you; so we said, ‘Let there now be an oath between us, even between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you, 29 that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of Yahweh.’” 30 Then he made them a feast, and they ate and drank. 31 In the morning they arose early and exchanged oaths; then Isaac sent them away and they departed from him in peace. 32 Now it came about on the same day, that Isaac’s servants came in and told him about the well which they had dug, and said to him, “We have found water.”33 So he called it Shibah; therefore the name of the city is Beersheba to this day.  34 When Esau was forty years old he married Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite; 35 and they brought grief to Isaac and Rebekah.

SnyderTalk Comment: Yahweh hated Esau because he traded his birthright for a meal.  Esau, in turn, hated Yahweh and did as much as he could to betray Him.  Read His Name is Yahweh.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
