Pierre Rehov—The Terrorists’ Reality Show: Who Has the “More Romantic Story”?:

“This whole conflict,” the foreign journalist said over coffee, “is a prime time show; the Palestinians provide us with the more romantic story.”

Terrorism is a show; it needs a producer and a distributor. Without a certain complicity from the international media, terrorism would not be so effective and might even disappear altogether.

While Hamas is raining rockets and missiles on the Israeli civilian population, and in return, is suffering a high level of destruction and hundreds of casualties as a result of collateral damage, one might ask: “What is the purpose?” The same question is also true of suicide terrorism. The genuine aim seems to be to gather sympathy while terrorizing the enemy, with an audience on an unlimited number of channels.

Casualties, in this show, whether Arab or Israeli, always play for the same side of the conflict: the one they hope will gain the most sympathy for the victims. These are usually Hamas and other terror organizations. In this round, they are mostly of Muslim origin, originate in the Palestinian territories and are funded by Iran and other countries with oil revenues

If a rocket succeeds in going through Israel’s anti-missile defense and causing damage to Israel, Hamas is “showing its strength,” by hitting the Jewish state. If a retaliation by Israel sadly results in the death of Arab civilians, Hamas is “showing how inhuman Israel is,” and therefore how much Israel deserves the world’s opprobrium. For Hamas and similar terror groups, therefore, the “show” is always a win-win.

SnyderTalk Comment: The whole world pounces on Israel for defending itself while Arabs and Muslims kill innocent civilians by the hundreds of thousands.  How many protests have you seen on the evening news about the almost 200,000 people killed to date in Syria?  How many mass rallies have you seen or heard about exposing the cold-blooded murder of Christians by Muslims in Africa?

Those things are taking place right now under the noses of journalists and politicians.  They deserve full-scale news coverage, yet the media barely even mentions them.  Hamas has launched thousands of rockets and mortars at Israeli cities since it took power in Gaza in 2005.  Almost nothing is said about that, either, but when Israel acts in self-defense, the media goes bonkers.

The fact that Hamas uses human shields as fodder for the media is well-known, but it’s little more than a sidebar.  When those human shields die, the media has a field day.

Something diabolical is at work here.  How else can you explain it?

This is my advice for Israeli leaders: since you will be vilified in the media no matter what you do, do what you have to do.  One more thing and this is important: don’t count on the United States government.  Politicians can turn on a dime.  If you doubt that, then remember Barack Obama, John Kerry, Susan Rice, and Hillary Clinton.  You can’t trust politicians in the United States to do your job for you.

I’ll bet that a fair number of Jewish people in Germany prior to Hitler taking power thought that the German government would protect them.  It didn’t.  Don’t let it happen again.

Washington Post Editorial: The U.S. Should Push for the Disarming of Hamas in Gaza-Israel Cease-Fire—As of Wednesday, the Israeli army had uncovered 28 tunnels in Gaza, and nearly half extended into Israel. The newly discovered structures have only one conceivable purpose: to launch attacks inside Israel. Three times in recent days, Hamas fighters emerged from the tunnels in the vicinity of Israeli civilian communities, which they clearly aimed to attack. The depravity of Hamas’ strategy seems lost on much of the outside world, which – following the terrorists’ script – blames Israel for the civilian casualties it inflicts while attempting to destroy the tunnels. While Secretary of State John Kerry, the Egyptian government and other would-be brokers are right to seek a cease-fire, they should reject Hamas’ agenda. Instead, any political accord should link opening of the borders and other economic concessions to the return to Gaza of the security forces of the Palestinian Authority and the disarmament of Hamas.

SnyderTalk Comment: It sounds good, but it’s impossible to achieve.  We know that for a fact after 9 years of Hamas control in Gaza.  The U.S. should push for the elimination of Hamas.  That won’t happen, either.  Thus, we will have war between Israel and Hamas and others dedicated to her destruction until who knows when.  Yahweh knows.  It won’t happen until He returns.

Charles Krauthammer: The Truth about Gaza— Israel accepts an Egyptian-proposed Gaza cease-fire; Hamas keeps firing. Hamas deliberately aims rockets at civilians; Israel painstakingly tries to avoid them, actually telephoning civilians in the area and dropping warning charges, so-called roof knocking. ‘Here’s the difference between us,” explains the Israeli prime minister. ‘We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.” Rarely does international politics present a moment of such moral clarity. Yet we routinely hear this Israel-Gaza fighting described as a morally equivalent “cycle of violence.” This is absurd. What possible interest can Israel have in cross-border fighting? Everyone knows Hamas set off this mini-war. And everyone knows Hamas’ proudly self-declared raison d’etre: the eradication of Israel and its Jews.

Alan M. Dershowitz: UN probe of Israel will only encourage Hamas war crimes— There you go again,” as Ronald Reagan said to Jimmy Carter. Once again the United Nations Human Rights Council has voted – with the United States dissenting – to conduct a so-called “investigation” of Israel’s military responses to Hamas’s double war crimes. Once again Israel will have to decide whether to feed the kangaroos that make up this court by cooperating with yet another phony investigation whose outcome is predetermined. Yet again Israel is presented with a Hobson’s choice: If it refuses to cooperate, it will blamed for denying the investigatory commission relevant information; if it cooperates it will lend credibility to a conclusion that has already been reached.

Ann Marlowe: A Heartbreaking Picture of Rare Genius Shows America Without Jews—There’s a scene in Boyhood, Richard Linklater’s acclaimed new film, where three generations of the extended family chronicled in the story sit around one evening singing and playing guitar (I think it’s “The Old Black Crow”). They’re at the very modest rural house of the protagonist Mason’s paternal grandparents celebrating his 15th birthday, and the camera pans from face to face to reveal what they share as a family and what the culture of this family is. These are people who are just a generation or two from living country-music lives in country-music places. You just know their ancestors fought on the Confederate side in the Civil War (there’s also that name “Mason”) and that their ancestors were not plantation owners, slave owners, but poor whites. The scene contains something revelatory about a group of Americans—and while it brought tears to my eyes, I also knew it was a place I couldn’t enter. Boyhood is not only the best movie many of us may see in 2014—it’s one of the least Jewish serious movies around. It is not just that there are no visibly Jewish characters, but that it depicts a world in which Jewish culture has left hardly any traces besides the Old Testament.

Moshe Phillips and Benyamin Korn: Eighth Lesson of the Gaza War: Hamas Reeling, and Kerry Comes to the Rescue—With Hamas reeling from Israel’s military strikes, Secretary of State John Kerry is rushing to the Middle East – to try to get Israel to cease firing. Bad move. Rescuing Hamas should not be on America’s agenda. The vaguely pro-Israel rhetoric emanating from the White House in the first days of the war helped keep Congress and the American Jewish community from criticizing the Obama Administration. But it did not reflect the Administration’s true feelings. We know what Secretary Kerry thinks, thanks to yet another one of those I-thought-the-microphone-was-off moments that have become a staple of American political life in recent years.

Marc Weitzmann: How a City in France Became a Mecca for Islamists— Once upon a time, in the extreme north of France, a few steps away from the Belgian border, the town of Roubaix was called “the city of the thousand chimneys” in reference to the many textile factories that gave it its distinctive shape and energy. Eager to work, ready to fight—“The mecca of socialism” was its other nickname; the town remained a bastion of the left from the mid-19th century to the last municipal elections—workers from all over Europe would populate the red-brick streets of its neighborhoods and the many guinguettes for which the town was otherwise known. Today, as the broken, dirty streets that I visited last week indicate, Roubaix is devastated by a 40-percent unemployment rate. It maintains an astonishing crime rate of 84 incidents per 1,000 inhabitants and is classified by the government as the largest “high-priority security zone” in the country. This is where Mehdi Nemouche, the alleged Brussels Jewish museum killer, was born and partly raised.

Myer Freimann: Why France Banned Anti-Israel Demonstrations—Fighting in Gaza between Israel and Hamas sparked a wave of anti-Israel demonstrations across the world last week that continued over the weekend. Large rallies were held in Paris, London, New York, and dozens of other cities around the world. Many of the protests served as platforms for virulent anti-Semitism and resulted in violent clashes between demonstrators and riot police. A major demonstration in London attracted 15,000 pro-Palestinian participants. Speakers called for Palestine to be free “from the river to the sea,” which many critics interpret as code for the elimination of Israel. Demonstrators waved flags of Hamas and Hezbollah, which are both political parties and also internationally recognized terrorist entities that call for the destruction of the State of Israel and a holy war against Jews. After the rally, groups of Muslim youth committed acts of vandalism and attacked Jews in a series of incidents that London police are treating as hate crimes.

Pnina Sharvit Baruch: Operation Protective Edge: Legality and Legitimacy— Like all military missions, Operation Protective Edge raises several legal questions. The legal aspects of the operation are relevant to the deliberations of decision makers at the practical level as well as to the public discourse in Israel and abroad. However, issues touching on the legality of Israel’s actions are not synonymous with issues concerning the legitimacy of these actions in the international arena, and legal actions may still be deemed illegitimate. • Legally speaking, the rules allow Israel and the IDF relative freedom of action. It is essential to adhere to these rules in order to safeguard the rule of law in Israel and the country’s democratic nature. In terms of legitimacy, Israel faces criticism regarding both the decision to react forcibly and the scope of force employed, as well as the extent of civilian casualties and damage to civilian objects – even when this criticism is not necessarily justified under international law.

Dr. Eado Hecht: Gaza: How Hamas Tunnel Network Grew—Hamas built a maze of underground concrete bunkers connected with tunnels and multiple entrances and exits underneath the residential areas of Gaza. These underground complexes are similar in concept to the Viet Cong tunnels dug beneath the jungles of South Vietnam, though the quality of finishing is better, with concrete walls and roofs, electricity and other required amenities for lengthy sojourn. After the failure of Hamas’ rocket forces to inflict significant damage on Israeli towns in November 2012, they decided to build a large offensive-tunnel capability that would enable them to infiltrate assault teams into Israeli villages within a few kilometers of the border or place large bombs underneath these villages. To discover the tunnels, the Israelis must either have excellent intelligence from within Gaza or they must go in and search for them house by house. Destroying a tunnel is a lengthy and complex operation. The entire length of the tunnel and its branches must be located, mapped and then completely destroyed.

Tarek Fatah: Muslim Double Standards Abound—Muslims around the world have taken to the streets and social media to protest Israel’s Operation Protective Edge. Undoubtedly the death of 200 Arabs, many of them civilian women and children, is tragic and worthy of condemnation. However, just next door to Israel almost 200,000 Arabs have been killed by fellow Arabs in Syria, but that tragedy has triggered no public demonstrations of anger in Islamic capitals. Few are aware of Pakistan’s operation underway against the Taliban inside that country, which has killed over 400 and made over 900,000 Pashtun Pakistanis homeless and destitute in their own country.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 21: 15-21

15 When the water in the skin was used up, she left the boy under one of the bushes. 16 Then she went and sat down opposite him, about a bowshot away, for she said, “Do not let me see the boy die.” And she sat opposite him, and lifted up her voice and wept. 17 God heard the lad crying; and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him by the hand, for I will make a great nation of him.” 19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went and filled the skin with water and gave the lad a drink. 20 God was with the lad, and he grew; and he lived in the wilderness and became an archer. 21 He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
