Terrence McCoy and Nick Kirkpatrick—So it appears Vladimir Putin can totally pump more iron than President Obama:

The most memorable moment of last year’s G8 Summit in Northern Ireland came when President Obama and Vladimir Putin shared a stage for a press conference. The encounter resembled a first date when both parties ran out of things to say. There was zero eye contact. Putin twiddled his fingers. Obama contemplated the floor. Putin scratched his head for longer than seemed necessary.

Everyone assumed the presidents were beefing over Syria. But there may have been another contention: pumping iron.

Both wanted a piece of the gym at the Fermanagh Lough Erne Hotel, nestled among chilly lakes and green hills. Obama called dibs on the gym before Putin had the chance, according to the British tabloid the Sun, and Putin wasn’t thrilled. Ultimately, however, Obama got the gym.

So where did Putin get his workout? He swam in a frigid lake. “The water in Fermanagh will be cold, but it should be no bother to Putin compared to Siberian rivers,” one source, quoted by the Sun, boasted. Another told the Voice of Russia: “That’s how the President likes it. He has, after all, swum in Siberia.”

If the pair had worked out together, the outing would have likely ended as awkwardly as their stage soiree. According to a video leaked on Wednesday of an Obamian workout, the presidents have very different routines.

O’Ryan Johnson: Pols desert President Obama amid election fears— As President Obama reels from widespread, bipartisan criticism of a prisoner swap with Taliban forces in Afghanistan — with even Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s hometown canceling its welcome — the growing scandal is emerging as just the latest political problem for Democrats facing tough re-election fights in November, with possible ramifications for the 2016 presidential race. The town of Hailey, Idaho, population 8,000, swamped with hate mail and angry calls over Bergdahl after his fellow soldiers accused him of desertion, yesterday canceled its plans for a big welcome-home rally. “If you had 10,000 people, 5,000 on one side and 5,000 on the other, then just due to the national attention, we don’t know what to expect,” Hailey Police Chief Jeff Gunter said.

Soeren Kern: Salafism in Germany: “Something Must Be Done Immediately”— Salafism is the fastest growing Islamist movement in Germany, and Salafist jihadists pose one of the greatest threats to national security, according to a new German intelligence report. The annual report—known in German as the Verfasungsschutzbericht Niedersachsen 2013—focuses on threats to the democratic order in the northwestern German state of Lower Saxony, home to a sizeable Muslim community. The 196-page document was prepared by the Lower Saxony branch of Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (BfV), and was made public by Boris Pistorius, the Interior Minister of Lower Saxony, at a special press conference held in the city of Hannover on May 25. Despite its regional focus, the report provides a wealth of information about the rise of radical Islam in Germany as a whole.

Zvi Magen and Udi Dekel: Russia’s Linkage between the Ukrainian Crisis and the Middle East— Although the official topic of the international security conference held in Moscow on May 20-23, 2014 was Middle East regional security, the conference actually dealt with the Russian perspective on the linkage between the crisis in Ukraine, where elections were held two days after the conference ended, and the upheavals in the Middle East. Regardless of the debate on the validity of this approach, its presentation at the conference should be seen as a message to the West that Russia is considering a change in its policy, by switching to a proactive policy in the international arena beyond the borders of the former Soviet Union. Russia is making it clear that the Middle East could be an area of confrontation with the United States, and used in order both to challenge US interests and to establish Russia’s standing as a global power.

Raheel Raza: From Brunei to Boko Haram: Merely Deflection— Boko Haram’s members justify their acts in the name of Islam, and Muslim leaders are intimidated into silence. Add to this a hatred for the West and its values, and you have an explosive combination of violence and faith being pushed upon innocent civilians. Inaction on the part of both Nigeria’s government and global powers has led to this latest horrific act of abduction. Muslims globally cannot remain under the illusion that because they put out press releases or say that Boko Haram is “not Muslim,” they can distance themselves from these crimes. If they do not openly condemn Boko Haram and similar groups such as the Taliban or the Muslim Brotherhood, they are by default supporting those causes.

Oded Eran: The European Union: Has the Countdown Begun?— On May 25, 2014, 388 million European Union citizens voted for more than 751 members of the European Parliament. On the agenda was the future of the “European project,” an unprecedented attempt to create a meta-national institution endowed with powers willingly relinquished by the member states and transferred to the said entity. The elections were thus a vote of confidence in the EU and a test of support by European citizens for the continued existence of the Union, and especially, the continued strengthening of its central institutions. • Some in Israel will perhaps find consolation in the trend toward the weakening of the EU’s central institution in Brussels because of Europe’s scathing criticism of Israeli policy on relations with the Palestinians. Yet any consolation is limited: In the coming years, Europe will remain not only Israel’s largest trading partner, but also a political bloc that, despite all the differences of opinion and the clear trend that emerged in the European Parliament elections, will continue to express its collective opinion on the subject of the Middle East.

Peter Martino: Terrorists and Europe’s “Newspeak”: When Is Hate Crime Not Hate Crime?—Britain strips British nationality from immigrants with dual nationality who go to Syria to fight. This act allows British authorities to ban them from re-entering the country. Why don’t European countries do the same? Yvan Mayeur, the Socialist Mayor of Brussels, said that to combat anti-Semitism and racism, his city needed more “diversity.” The way to combat this, Yvan Mayeur, the Socialist Mayor of Brussels, said… his city needed more “diversity.” But diversity does not mean diversity. Diversity is the new code word for more Islam.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Palestinians: BDS Activists Are Troublemakers, Criminals— The Palestinian Authority’s move against the BDS activists shows that it considers the movement a threat to Palestinian interests. A Palestinian Authority official in Ramallah explained that BDS and its followers make the Palestinians appear as if they are all radicals who are only interested in boycotting and delegitimizing Israel. “No, we do not support the boycott of Israel.” — Mahmoud Abbas, President, Palestinian Authority.

Shlomo Brom: The Failed Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations, and What Lies Ahead— The Israeli-Palestinians negotiations mediated by US Secretary of State John Kerry were a failure, and at the end of the allotted nine month period the two sides could not even agree on a document of principles, the so-called framework agreement. At the same time, the two parties fear the ramifications of the collapse of the talks: the risks are great, and the available options are problematic. The Palestinians often speak of the benefits of appealing to the international system to force an agreement on Israel, although they are quite aware that the international system will not do this. Israel fears the continuation of the status quo, and the cost in the international arena and in Israel’s relations with the United States. Therefore, the two parties might be persuaded to continue negotiations, with better prospects of success, if these occur in the framework of a broader process that would include continued negotiations toward a permanent settlement, along with transitional agreements.

Valentina Colombo: The Muslim Brotherhood’s “Peaceful Conquest”— “Political and religious terrorism began with the birth of the Muslim Brotherhood…” — Farag Foda, Egyptian intellectual murdered by Islamists in 1992, in Terrorism [al-Irhab]. Islamist movements have different tactics… but their goal is always the same: Get in and impose sharia law to establish an Islamic state. The problem is not so much the Muslim Brotherhood as the schizophrenia of governments that one day condemn them and the next day work with them.

Soeren Kern: Decapitation, Morality Squads and “Five-Star Jihad”: A Month of Islam in Britain: April 2014— The number of so-called taxi-rapes has snowballed to such an extent that a British judge recently issued a warning that no woman can expect to be safe while travelling in a cab. Ibrahim Munir, an exiled senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood now living in Britain, when asked [if] violence would be an option, replied, “Any possibility.” “Do I have to change my religion to get the best [banking] deal?” — Lloyds Bank customer, quoted in The Daily Telegraph.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Genesis 7: 13-16

13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. 16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and Yahweh closed it behind him.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
