Christine Williams—New Anti-Semitism Tailored for Evangelicals:

In what is being dubbed an “unprecedented advisory,” Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a warning to Christians to steer clear of the “Christ at the Checkpoint” [CATC] conference that took place from March 8th-15th in Bethlehem, and coincided with Israel Apartheid week there. Israel Today, a publication that investigated the conference, concluded that it could pose “a long term threat to Israel’s security.” According to the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The attempt to use religious motifs in order to mobilize political propaganda and agitate the feelings of the faithful through the manipulation of religion and politics is an unacceptable and shameful act. Using religion for the purpose of incitement in the service of political interests stains the person who does it with a stain of indelible infamy.”

A ministry official stated that, “the conference is designed for the evangelical Christian leadership — an extremely important audience to us.” Christians around the world should pay close attention to the Israeli government’s concern about the dangerous propaganda being fanned and fueled at “Christ at the Checkpoint.” According to the conference website: “the checkpoint and the wall become a focal point and symbol of the conflict.” Yet the reason for the wall and the checkpoint is never mentioned — not the daily incitement to destroy Israel, the countless terrorist attacks against it which necessitated the barrier, nor the seemingly corrupt leadership of the Palestinian people.

Frimet Roth: Injustice Anywhere Is a Threat to Justice Everywhere: A Mother’s Plea— One oppressively hot August morning, my daughter Malki set off with her best friend Michal to decorate with welcome signs the bedroom of another friend returning from vacation. Afterward, Malki called me to say that she and Michal were heading to the city center. There she would catch a bus to a summer camp counselors’ meeting in another Jerusalem suburb. “I love you” we told each other – as we usually ended our conversations. It promised to be a day of giving and sharing like every day was for Malki.

Dan Margalit: Brinkmanship tactics— The American working document, meant to serve as a bridgehead for a second season of negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, is one of the most palatable Israel has seen. Its content does not, of course, meet everything the Israeli government wanted, but it does make an effort within the range of American policy since the Six-Day War.

Washington Post Editorial: Offering Jonathan Pollard’s Release in Mideast Peace Talks Is Premature—THE OBAMA administration’s Middle East diplomacy has degenerated from a bid to conclude a final Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement this month to an attempt to win agreement on a preliminary “framework” to a desperate race to prevent the talks from collapsing. According to widespread reports Tuesday, that last-ditch effort included discussion of the possible release of Jonathan Pollard, a former Navy civilian intelligence analyst convicted of spying for Israel. His pardon would be bartered for Israel’s freeing of Palestinian prisoners. The prospect of clemency for Mr. Pollard generates strong feelings from both those who believe his crimes were too serious to justify early release and those who say that his 28 years of imprisonment is enough. Whichever your view, what’s striking about this scenario is that President Obama would act not on the merits of the case but rather as a quid pro quo in a diplomatic deal involving Israelis and Palestinians.

Edward-Isaac Dovere: The Jonathan Pollard Trial Balloon—There are reports that President Obama might try to jump-start the Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations via some kind of clemency for Jonathan Pollard, the former Navy analyst who’s been in jail since 1987 for spying for Israel. Experienced negotiators say the Pollard trial balloon itself might be the clearest sign yet that the peace process is essentially over once again. For Pollard’s release to ever be used in negotiations, time’s running out: he’s expected to be released in November 2015 anyway. If this were the last stitch needed to sew up a final deal, that would be one thing. But as a ploy to keep negotiations going over a peace framework, those who’ve been part of prior talks aren’t impressed. “It shows a certain weakness and desperation,” said Aaron David Miller, a former State Department senior adviser on the region.

Dennis Ross: Pollard Release Seems Justified— It is no surprise that Jonathan Pollard has become part of the discussions in the current Israeli-Palestinian peace discussions. In every administration I was a part of — and every negotiation in which I participated — he was raised by Israeli prime ministers. From Rabin through Netanyahu, one thing could be counted on: Pollard would be raised. We may view him as a spy; Israelis view him differently. He has taken on the aura of being a soldier who was left in the field, and the ethos in Israel is that soldiers are never left behind. As someone who is Jewish and who also worked in the Pentagon in the 1980’s, I had no sympathy for Pollard. He stole top-secret documents; he betrayed his country and the trust put in him; he was caught and it was appropriate that he pay a price for what he had done. I felt strongly about that.

Mati Tuchfeld: Bitter pills and sugar— Although it seems it may be possible to get the necessary majority to have the government approve it, the Pollard deal is truly rattling the coalition. The Right is threatening to leave if the deal goes through, while the Left is threatening to leave if it doesn’t and the diplomatic process stops. And unless one side shows flexibility and a willingness to compromise, it seems it will be very hard to keep the government together.

Bassam Tawil: Real Peace with the Jews—  On March 12, 2014, the eve of President Mahmoud Abbas’ departure for the White House and a meeting with American President Barack Obama, Fatah Central Committee’s Abbas Zaki went on Palestinian national TV and presented his vision for the future of the Jews in the State of Israel. According to Zaki, “Allah will gather them [the Israelis] so that we can kill them.” He said that “every killer has to die, there is no other option.” His sweeping declaration represented the true vision that a great many Palestinian leaders have for the Jews, based on Surah 17, Al-Isra (The Night Journey), Verse 8 of the Qur’an, which deals with the bitter fate of the Jews condemned to hell.

Reuven Berko: The Palestinian Country of Lies— It is news to no one that throughout the negotiations with Israel, despite Islam’s ban on lying, the Palestinians have consistently lied. Surah Al-Haj (Surah 22, verse 30) and Surah Al-Ghafir (Surah 40, verse 28) of the Qur’an, as well as many hadiths (the oral tradition attributed to Muhammad), strongly condemn lying for any reason. It is specifically considered an affront to Allah and Muhammad, and the liar will burn in hell. However, for Islamists, their beliefs provide a number of loopholes. For example, for an Islamist, one can lie to effect a compromise between disputing parties, to deceive an enemy, to make one’s wife happy.

Nicholas Watt: David Cameron orders inquiry into activities of Muslim Brotherhood— Speaking at a No 10 news conference, the prime minister said that the government was committed to encouraging people away from the path of extremism. “We want to challenge the extremist narrative that some Islamist organisations have put out,” he told reporters following talks with new Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi. “What I think is important about the Muslim Brotherhood is that we understand what this organisation is, what it stands for, what its beliefs are in terms of the path of extremism and violent extremism, what its connections are with other groups, what its presence is here in the United Kingdom. Our policies should be informed by a complete picture of that knowledge,” he said.

Lee Smith: Border Skirmishes— Last week the Israeli Air Force bombed Syrian military and security positions in retaliation for an operation on the Syrian-Israeli border in the Golan Heights. Four Israeli soldiers were wounded when Hezbollah attacked their Jeep. Hezbollah it seems was looking to kidnap them. This time they failed, but, said Hezbollah sources, “We are sure we will succeed in the near future.” Maybe. If so, it is sure to resonate throughout the Middle East. The last time Hezbollah kidnapped Israeli soldiers it touched off a monthlong conflict in the summer of 2006. After the devastation Hezbollah suffered, hundreds of its elite troops dead and billions of dollars’ worth of damage done, the party’s general secretary, Hassan Nasrallah, said that had he known how the Israelis would respond, he never would have taken their soldiers in the first place. So now that Nasrallah knows what Israeli countermeasures look like, what could he possibly be thinking?

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

Malachi 3: 5-6

“Then I will draw near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against those who swear falsely, and against those who oppress the wage earner in his wages, the widow and the orphan, and those who turn aside the alien and do not fear Me,” says Yahweh Sabaoth. “For I, Yahweh, do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
