Ron Jager—The Oslo Accords—wasted energy:

As a longtime resident of Shaare Tiqva for the past 24 years, Shabbat Chol Hamoed began as a non-eventful day in which the reading of Aicha is for me is always a special event. Towards late afternoon on Shabbat, when the ominous gray clouds above began to release winters first rainfall, the entrance to our quiet community quickly filled up with I.D.F. military forces, Shin Bet agents, police, and a large contingent of foreign and local press broadcasting directly to satellites above. It would be only later towards evening that we would hear along with the rest of the country, that yet again, an off-duty soldier on leave was murdered in cold blood by a Palestinian Arab terrorist, who had intended to use the body of the slain soldier as a bargaining chip to negotiate the release of his convicted terrorist brother, serving an extended prison term in an Israeli prison. The murder of Sergeant Tomer Hazan , Hy’d at the hands of the Palestinian Arab terrorist, who entered Israel illegally, through a hole in the security fence, has once again put a spotlight on the ease in which Palestinian Arabs are able to infiltrate Israel by simply walking through a hole in the fence. Lets all remember that the security fence that runs the length of Judea and Samaria was erected in response to the failure of the Oslo Accords and the ensuring terror war unleashed by Arafat and continuing till this very day.

Coincidently, this past Friday, the day of the murder, Israel marked the 20th anniversary of the signing of the “Oslo Accords.” Undoubtedly, this agreement, one of Israel’s greatest strategic blunders alongside the Disengagement of 2005, has brought upon the good people of Israel only death and mayhem. Even today, the signatories to the “Oslo Accords”, refuse to acknowledge the many “holes” in the agreement, resuscitating the deceitful peace process on and off over the past 20 years, sailing on their ship of fools towards a “two state solution” while ignoring the severe flaws that make the whole rationale behind Oslo inherently false and deceptive. Palestinian Arab terror is a phenomenon that refuses to go away not only because when push comes to shove, Israel’s right to exist is simply unacceptable, but largely because the Palestinian Arabs are part and parcel of the greater Islamic war against anyone and any country that is not Muslim.

Daniel Pipes: Israel’s Stunning Response to Palestinian Aggression— In retaliation for the shooting on September 22 of an Israeli soldier, Sergeant Gabriel Koby, 20, killed by a sniper with a shot to the neck while patrolling in Hebron, the government of Israel has allowed the immediate resettlement of Beit Hamachpela (“House of the Patriarchs”) a three-story apartment building in that city near the Cave of the Patriarchs and close to where Koby was shot. Hebron’s Jewish community had purchased most of the building in March 2012 but its members were expelled from it by the Israeli government a few days later on the grounds that they lacked a residential permit. They subsequently won a lawsuit permitting them to return but did not have authorization to do so.

Ray Takeyh: A kinder, gentler Iran?— In an autumn ritual, an Iranian president is once more coming to New York for the United Nations’ annual meeting of the heads of state. Media frenzy is likely to follow, as the smiling visage of President Hassan Rouhani dominates the airways next week. Beyond vague pledges of cooperation and lofty rhetoric about turning a new page, the question remains how to assess the intentions of the new Iranian government. The early indications are that Rouhani has put together a seasoned team that seeks to both advance and legitimize Iran’s nuclear program.

Ruthie Blum: Offensive, minus the charm— All Iranian President Hasan Rouhani had to do to persuade the West that he is a “moderate” was to refer to himself as such.

Dr. Haim Shine: If you build it, you will win— There is a single way to memorialize those murdered in the past week and over the years: Build.

Josephine Bacon: Russian Orthodox Church Still Thinks There is a ‘Jewish Question’— Every year, a three-day discussion forum is held in Russia at the Valdai Club, an organization so-called because it is located in Valdai in the Novgorod Oblast. It is attended by Russia’s “great and good,” including many members of the political opposition, as well as President Putin’s party. Journalists are strictly prohibited from reporting in detail on its deliberations, probably for this reason. This year, on its second day, the forum relocated to the local Iversky Monastery, which its organizers apparently considered a suitable setting for a discussion on religious tolerance.

Zaki Shalom: Contemplating a Substantive Change in the Palestinian Position on a Political Agreement: Possible Israeli Responses— The prevailing opinion in Israel and among many American and Palestinian officials is that chances are slim that the current negotiations will lead to a real breakthrough that will promote a full settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. Gaps between the respective positions are wide, and the mediator – i.e., the United States – is seen as lacking sufficient leverage to lead the two sides to modify their positions significantly. Yet while the assessment is reasonable, powerful considerations could in fact lead the two parties to decide to make a material change in their positions. This article examines the possibility that a fundamental and perhaps even dramatic change will occur in the familiar Palestinian position, and examines possible responses by the US administration and the Israeli government.

Wesley Pruden: Hillary’s roots give her away— Will she or won’t she? Not even her hairdresser, who is only called in occasionally, knows for sure. But the lady knows how to keep everyone guessing. Only her roots are showing. Bill and Hillary Clinton are the longest-running soap opera in American politics, and as Bill continues a slow fade into the woodwork Hillary emerges as the sound and light show illuminating the lives of the Washington political class. She’s the favorite story line of the chattering class, too. Nobody prods and pokes these classes, teasing with hints, intimations and insinuations, better than she does.

Michael Barone: America’s new Isolationism— America has gone back to isolationism, many commentators are saying. Not just the dovish Democrats, but also Republicans who were so hawkish a decade ago are turning away from the world. There is something to this, but it’s more complicated than that. To understand where we are, it’s helpful to put today’s developments in historic perspective.

Michael Freund: Putting God back into the IDF— On Wednesday morning of last week, just hours before the start of Succot, hundreds of young men in drab green uniforms mulled about at the foot of the Nahal Brigade memorial in Pardes Hanna. A mixture of exhaustion and enthusiasm was evident on their boyish faces as they prepared for the start of the Tekes Kumta, or “beret ceremony,” signifying the end of their basic combat training. To mark this important milestone, each soldier would be receiving a new bit of headgear, with its unique color signifying the unit in which he serves.

Ephraim Asculai and Emily B. Landau: The Burden of Proof Is on Iran—Iran’s new president Hassan Rouhani has said nothing so far to indicate that he has any intention to reverse course in the nuclear realm. Quite the contrary: He has said Tehran will not even discuss uranium-enrichment suspension. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has been hailed for calling for flexibility in dealing with the international community, but his full sentence was that Iran may exercise flexibility for a tactical reason, while not losing sight of its rival and goal.

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Amos 2: 9-10

“Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, though his height [was] like the height of cedars and he [was] strong as the oaks; I even destroyed his fruit above and his root below. It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, and I led you in the wilderness forty years that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
