Michael Ledeen—The Road to Damascus Starts in Tehran:

It’s Middle East Groundhog Day all over again.  The discussion of What To Do About Syria is a replay of What To Do About Saddam:  it’s all about the wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time in the wrong way.

When the intel and military “experts” say, as they have been saying for many months, “there is no good outcome in Syria,” they’re talking about that war, the wrong war.

We invaded Iraq in the name of the War Against Terror, which President George W. Bush defined as a war against terrorist organizations and the states that supported them.  That should have made Iran the focus of our strategy, since Tehran was (and still is, now more than ever) the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism.  Nothing would have so devastated the jihadis as the fall of the Iranian regime, which–then as now–funded, trained, armed and gave sanctuary to terrorist groups from al-Qaeda and Hezbollah to Islamic Jihad and Hamas.  Unless we defeated Iran, it would not be possible for Iraq to have decent security, no matter how total the defeat of Saddam and the Baathists, and how well-intentioned the successor government.  As you can plainly see.

It’s not as if anyone should be surprised; before the invasion, both Assad and Khamenei publicly announced that they would wage war against us in Iraq, just as they had in Lebanon a short generation before.  Today they warn us to stay out of Syria, or they will attack us on a global scale.

A limited 2-day strike on Syria may be like hitting a hornet’s nest with a stick.  We’ll see, but this much is certain: if we strike Syria, we need to have a backup plan in case we ignite a conflagration in the Middle East.  This is certain as well: we need to keep Israel in the loop.  They will be innocent victims if we fail.  They may be victimized if we succeed.

Bob Feferman: Preventing a Nuclear Iran is an Act of Tikkun Olam— Tikkun Olam: the Hebrew phrase for repairing a broken world and making it a better place. Some analysts argue that Iran’s new president will bring a positive change, and moderation, to Tehran. But this is not a time for such complacency. Instead, it is a time to recognize that a nuclear-armed Iran would make an already-broken world a much more dangerous place. And we must take action now to prevent this from happening.

Amir Rapaport: Facing the North— Radars being mounted on masts all over the Golan Heights are only a part of the rapid changes that currently transform the border between Israel and Syria: against the background of the civil war raging on the other side of the fence, the border takes a new shape. This is how it looks on the ground: the sound of gunfire was heard in early May from the direction of the village of Jamla, on the other side of the border fence system between Israel and Syria.

Earl Cox: Funding the Palestinian “Government” is Immoral and Unlawful— With the US economy in an absolute tailspin and with the debt having almost more zeros on the end than you can count, the Obama administration continues to placate the Palestinian Authority by funneling $148,000,000 more US dollars from the already overburdened taxpayers into the black hole coffers of the Palestinian Authority.  Obama has made no accounting requirement on the PA of the use of the funds.  This is supposedly to help them avert a budget crisis and support efforts to achieve a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian dilemma.  This can only be a band-aid fix to both issues. First of all the Palestinian Authority, by choice, has never been self supporting or economically sound.  Secondly, the US cannot buy an answer or purchase a solution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict as they have been trying to do for decades.  Apparently Obama hasn’t done his homework or doesn’t care.

Noah Beck: Israel and India: Two Great Democracies That Should Deepen Their Strategic Ties— At first glance, Hindu-majority India, with approximately 1.2 billion people and an entire subcontinent, would seem to have little in common with Jewish-majority Israel, which has only eight million people living on territory that’s just roughly 15 times the size of India’s capital city. While full diplomatic relations were established between Jerusalem and New Delhi only in 1992, the two countries actually have much in common.

Sean Savage: Is Hamas the Biggest Victim of Mideast Turmoil?— In the shifting sands of the tumultuous Middle East, Hamas, the Palestinian terror group in control of the Gaza Strip, has found itself in an increasingly precarious position. Feared for its massive arsenal of rockets and trained jihadis, the terror group is today also facing isolation and internal discord. With its Muslim Brotherhood allies on the run in Egypt, strained relations with former benefactors in Iran and Syria, and an increasingly technologically savvy Israeli enemy, the terror organization—while still dangerous—is facing a perfect storm of problems that threatens to undermine its power.

Raymond Ibrahim: The Muslim Brotherhood: Origins, Efficacy and Reach— The Muslim Brotherhood is the most important Islamic organization in the world, with tentacles of influence everywhere, both in the Islamic world but also in the West, wherever its purpose—the establishment of a Sharia-enforcing caliphate—can be achieved. The efficacy of this group can be seen in the fact that, less than a century ago, when it was founded, it consisted of very few members; it was violent and eventually crushed and outlawed; today in Egypt, a MB leader, Muhammad Morsi, sits on the throne of the Middle East’s most strategic nation, ironically in the name of democracy, where he is trying to enable the totality of Sharia law in Egypt, even as many resist.

Ryan Mauro: Muslim Brotherhood Groups and Their Jewish Friends— An organizer of a Muslim Brotherhood-linked rally explicitly acknowledged its “friendship” with both the Brotherhood and “the Jewish Voice for Justice and Peace,” apparently referring the Jewish Voice for Peace. The organization is at the forefront of activism against Israel and the “Islamophobes” that stand against American Islamists, earning the affection of the Brotherhood’s allies.

Jake Sherman and Anna Palmer: On Hill, deep skepticism about Syria entanglement— In an interview Monday, Casey said there are several things the administration could do that don’t involve boots on the ground, including targeted missile strikes with a coalition of allies. And while Casey continued to press for tougher action, he acknowledged that the White House has been in a wrenching position over dealing with the foreign policy crisis — given the economic and fiscal problems at home as well as the war-weary Congress and public.

Robert Spencer: What’s Wrong with Going into Syria— American military intervention in Syria is likely to begin this week, and one thing we know amid the general confusion is that the objective is not to oust Bashar Assad: White House spokesman Jay Carney said Tuesday: “I want to make clear that the options that we are considering are not about regime change. They are about responding to a clear violation of international standard that prohibits the use of chemical weapons.” How the Obama Administration plans to deal with Assad’s alleged use of chemical weapons without challenging his grip on power is unclear, but then again, so is everything else about this misadventure.

Doug Hagmann: Intelligence insider: Syria, World War III & the hidden objective— “Pay attention! You are seeing the opening acts to a global war, to World War III. Refer to the information I gave you right after the attacks in Benghazi, specifically to the information contained in ‘Lemmings…at the precipice of WW III’ and you will see that everything I divulged to you was precisely correct.

Hosea 14: 3-4

“Assyria will not save us, we will not ride on horses; nor will we say again, ‘Our god,’ to the work of our hands; for in You the orphan finds mercy.” I will heal their apostasy, I will love them freely, for My anger has turned away from them.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
