Raymond Ibrahim—Al Qaeda Flag Flies High Above Christian Churches:

Days ago, al-Qaeda’s Egyptian leader, Ayman Zawahiri, portrayed  the overthrow of Muhammad Morsi and the Brotherhood as a “Crusader” campaign led by Coptic Pope Tawadros II who, according to Zawahiri and other terrorists, is trying to create a Coptic state in Egypt.

Since then, not only are Egypt’s Christians and churches now being attacked in ways unprecedented in the modern era, but new reports indicate that al-Qaeda’s black flag has been raised on some of them, specifically St. George Church in Sohag.  Considering that it was al-Qaeda linked terrorists who  initiated one of the bloodiest church attacks in recent history, the 2010 Baghdad church attack where nearly 60 Christians were slaughtered (click here for graphic images), that al-Qaeda is singling out Egypt’s Christians bodes ill.

The Islamic terrorist organization’s incitements against the Copts are just the latest to emanate from Islamists—from the top of the Brotherhood leadership to the bottom of the “Muslim street”—creating something of an “open season” on Egypt’s Christians.

Rabbi Berel Wein: Man’s role – and goal – in prayer is often misunderstood— Prayer, in its most formal sense, comprises an important part of daily Jewish life and ritual. Daily morning, afternoon and evening services are the staple rhythm of activities in every synagogue and home throughout the Jewish world. There are many dimensions of prayer in Jewish tradition and thought. And perhaps no subject has been explained and scrutinized as closely in the writings of the great Jewish scholars of the ages as has been prayer.

Amir Rapaport: Where Is the Israeli Military Heading?— The army’s new multi-year plan shows that the IDF is reorganizing its priorities for the coming decade. Military priorities include the attainment of intelligence superiority, development of knockout fire delivery capability, active defense systems, cyber warfare, and border protection systems, while the ground forces are to be downgraded in importance and priority.

John Rossomando: Reports: MB Negotiating To Give Morsi Way Out— Conflicting reports suggest a deal could be in the works with Egypt’s military rulers to let deposed Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood save face and end a month of demonstrations by Morsi’s supporters. The Independent reported Monday that the deal would allow Morsi to officially “resign” as Egypt’s president and go into exile.

Jamsheed K. Choks: Iran’s Mounting Malaise—Iranians must struggle with restrictions on what they wear, hear, say and with who they interact. Yet more than 30% of Iranians have access to satellite television and 61% to the Internet, circumventing government constraints on communications with the rest of the world. Thus Iranians are well aware that living standards are much higher in the Gulf countries to their south. They see European and North American nations providing not only a comfortable life but sociopolitical liberties as well.

Emmanuel Navon: Mahmoud Abbas’ Minority Report—Shortly after negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians resumed, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas declared that he wouldn’t tolerate the presence of a single Jew in the future Palestinian state. Imagine if Scotland, which is supposed to hold a referendum on its independence next year, would declare that it shall not tolerate any Englishman (or Jew, for that matter) on its sovereign territory.

Khaled Abu Toameh: Egypt Blockades Gaza: Where Are the Flotillas?—Ghazi Hamad, a senior official with the Hamas foreign ministry, said this week that Egypt (and not Israel) had turned Gaza into a “big prison as a result of the continued closure of the Rafah border crossing by the Egyptian authorities since June 30.” Now that the charge is being made against Egypt, most international journalists, human rights organizations and “pro-Palestine” groups have chosen to look the other way. Residents of Gaza are asking these days: Why haven’t foreign activists tried to organize another flotilla aid convoy to break the Egyptian blockade?

Einat Wilf: Some Israelis Dread Peace Talks—The renewal of talks between Israelis and Palestinians fills me with dread. For more than 20 years, peace talks meant more terrorism and more death. The more serious the talks got, the greater the number of violent deaths. The closer the negotiations came to addressing the core issues, the worse the violence became. In the 1990s, victims of terrorism were called “victims of peace.” But peace should have no victims, and neither should the road to achieving it.

David M. Weinberg: Is the haredi draft plan a sham?— Letting all haredim off the hook until 2017 and then threatening to throw them in jail is a recipe for civil war and a breakdown of law and order.

Adam Levick: Are Jews the Most Incompetent “Ethnic Cleansers” in the World?—The “question” of whether Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians can be easily refuted by a few population statistics. The Palestinian population in the West Bank increased from 462,000 in 1949 to more than 2.5 million today. In Gaza, the population increased from 82,000 in 1949 to 1.7 million today. Additionally, the number of Arabs killed (since 1920) in Arab-Israeli wars is less than the number of Arabs killed by Arabs in Syria alone since 2011.

Frida Ghitis: Israel’s Security Paradox: Never Safer and Never More Uncertain—Israel’s enemies have, for the moment, set aside the obsessive attention they normally expend on the Jewish state and have focused on more urgent matters of revolution and civil war. Israel is the quietest, most stable, safest country in the region. For its foes, Israel is a secondary issue right now. That provides a measure of security, however temporary.

4--Scripture of the Day USE THIS ONE

Hosea 11: 7-8

So My people are bent on turning from Me. Though they call them to the One on high, none at all exalts Him. How can I give you up, O Ephraim? How can I surrender you, O Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I treat you like Zeboiim? My heart is turned over within Me, all My compassions are kindled.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
