Raymond Ibrahim—Exposed: The Final Conversation Between Morsi and Egyptian Military:

[…]

Morsi: Am I imprisoned or what?

Sisi [General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Egypt’s army chief]: You are under arrest from this moment.

Morsi: Don’t think the Brotherhood is going to stand by if I leave office.  They will set the world on fire.

Sisi: Just let them try something and you’ll see the reaction of the army.  Whoever among them wants to live in peace, he’s more than welcome; otherwise, [if they try anything] we will not leave them alone.  We will not single anyone out, and the Brotherhood is from the Egyptian people, so don’t try to use them as fuel for your disgusting war.  If you truly love them, leave office and let them go to their homes.

13--Perspectives

#####

Yoav Limor: IDF gears up for a new era— Implemented correctly, the cuts to the defense budget will result in a leaner, stronger military, better suited for the challenges of the modern battlefield.

Ehud Yaari: Egypt’s Chaos and Its Implications for Israel—The security situation in Sinai is grave and perceived by the top echelon of the Egyptian military to be very dangerous. There are different militias of Salafi Jihadists, Bedouins and volunteers from abroad that are attacking, at will, Egyptian military and security positions in Sinai. We are witnessing a state of semi-open rebellion by many tribes in Sinai, led by Salafi militias who have declared the establishment of a “war council” to fight the Egyptian military.

Steve Apfel: Lament of the patriarchal Israel-curser— “How beautiful are your tents, oh Jacob, your dwelling places, oh Israel!” For the tribute recited early morning in synagogues thank a pagan prophet for hire. Odder yet, thank a lifetime antagonist of the people he so bountifully blessed. Oddest of all, thank me!

Louis René Beres: Understanding Ordinary Evil— All of America’s national security strategy on counterterrorism is based, in part, on a single core assumption: that our terrorist enemies are plainly and uniformly “abnormal.” Significantly, however, such presumptively stark polarities between normal and abnormal, good and evil, represent a debilitating caricature. In order to better understand and combat these enemies, we must first learn to acknowledge that even “normal” individuals can sometimes do us great harm.

J.E. Dyer: The defeat of Morsi is affecting Syria— Mohammed Morsi’s call for holy war in Syria spooked the Egyptian military, and it alarmed the Saudis too.  I suspect it even played a role in the decision of Qatar’s new emir to depose his father (long a supporter of Morsi and promoter of Islamist influence in the Arab Spring nations) at the end of June.  The new Sheikh Tamim has moved quickly to shift some of his father’s key policies, and we are likely to see more solidarity between Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the coming weeks – but with the Saudis now edging into the lead.

Michael Bassin: Empowering olim — so they’ll stay— Five years after presenting his first plan to ease aliyah, Guy Seamann on Wednesday launches Kol Oleh, a movement to give olim issues prominence in the Tel Aviv elections campaign.

Brandon Marlon: Reestablishing the Great Sanhedrin and Gerusia?— The latest attempt to reestablish the Great Sanhedrin, begun in October 2004 at Tiberias, continues its efforts to play a meaningful role in Jewish life. This self-styled “nascent” or “developing” Sanhedrin, headed by Nassi Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, acts as a synod with limited functions and even more limited authority. Overall, its activities are modest and its attitude tentative. Most Jews don’t even know it exists. And yet, it is a start.

P. David Hornik: The Fight For Egypt— The Israeli officials, for their part, warned that cutting the military aid to Egypt could harm Israel’s security and further destabilize the area. Israel—relaxing the terms of its 1979 peace treaty with Egypt—has been allowing Egyptian forces to fight Salafist and other ultra-radical terror groups in the Sinai for which even Morsi’s Islamist regime was too “moderate.”

Philippe Assouline: Israel Vindicated: 1948 as told by those who lived it—Robert F. Kennedy, martyred liberal icon, was a reporter for the Boston Post in 1948. He was sent in the spring of that year to Mandatory Palestine to cover the lead up to the British withdrawal. His dispatches are a fascinating glimpse back in time and invaluable historical records.  And yet they are also a testament to the ideological stagnation of the Arab world vis a vis Israel.

Boaz Bismuth: Sunni revenge reaches Nasrallah— Formerly a symbol of Arab pride and resistance, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah is now an enemy of the Sunni people.

4--Scripture of the Day

Hosea 7: 3-4

With their wickedness they make the king glad, and the princes with their lies. They are all adulterers, like an oven heated by the baker who ceases to stir up the fire from the kneading of the dough until it is leavened.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.

  • Stand! is a suspense novel that exposes the lies, corruption, and greed underlying the theory that man-made CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming.  Professor Wes Carlyle and Karen Sterling, his research collaborator, carefully scan the audience for their would-be attacker—a member of the enviro-gestapo who has been following them for days.  Wes spots his man in the back of the room leaning against the wall.  Suddenly, another man in the audience steps forward and moves toward Karen at a menacing pace.  With a vicious stroke, he swings a billy club at her head.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.

  • Falsely Accused is a true story about a young woman who was accused of committing a double homicide.  It’s about a travesty of justice, and it reveals Yahweh intervening in the life of a believer to rescue her from danger in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.  Everyone will enjoy the book, but young people in particular need to read it because the mistakes made that led to the problem could have been avoided.  They were the kinds of mistakes that young people are prone to make.  As they say, forewarned is forearmed.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
