Is the Isaiah 19 Prophecy about Egypt Being Fulfilled in Our Time?

Isaiah 19 is a very interesting prophecy about Egypt:

1 The oracle concerning Egypt:

Behold, Yahweh is riding on a swift cloud and is about to come to Egypt; the idols of Egypt will tremble at His presence, and the heart of the Egyptians will melt within them.

2 “So I will incite Egyptians against Egyptians; and they will each fight against his brother and each against his neighbor, city against city and kingdom against kingdom. 3 “Then the spirit of the Egyptians will be demoralized within them; and I will confound their strategy, so that they will resort to idols and ghosts of the dead and to mediums and spiritists. 4 “Moreover, I will deliver the Egyptians into the hand of a cruel master, and a mighty king will rule over them,” declares Adonai Yahweh Sabaoth.

5 The waters from the sea will dry up, and the river will be parched and dry. 6 The canals will emit a stench, the streams of Egypt will thin out and dry up; the reeds and rushes will rot away. 7 The bulrushes by the Nile, by the edge of the Nile and all the sown fields by the Nile will become dry, be driven away, and be no more. 8 And the fishermen will lament, and all those who cast a line into the Nile will mourn, and those who spread nets on the waters will pine away. 9 Moreover, the manufacturers of linen made from combed flax and the weavers of white cloth will be utterly dejected. 10 And the pillars of Egypt will be crushed; all the hired laborers will be grieved in soul.

11 The princes of Zoan are mere fools; the advice of Pharaoh’s wisest advisers has become stupid. How can you men say to Pharaoh, “I am a son of the wise, a son of ancient kings”?

12 Well then, where are your wise men? Please let them tell you, and let them understand what Yahweh Sabaoth has purposed against Egypt. 13 The princes of Zoan have acted foolishly, the princes of Memphis are deluded; those who are the cornerstone of her tribes have led Egypt astray. 14 Yahweh has mixed within her a spirit of distortion; they have led Egypt astray in all that it does, as a drunken man staggers in his vomit. 15 There will be no work for Egypt which its head or tail, its palm branch or bulrush, may do.

16 In that day the Egyptians will become like women, and they will tremble and be in dread because of the waving of the hand of Yahweh Sabaoth, which He is going to wave over them. 17 The land of Judah will become a terror to Egypt; everyone to whom it is mentioned will be in dread of it, because of the purpose of Yahweh Sabaoth which He is purposing against them.

18 In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will be speaking the language of Canaan and swearing allegiance to Yahweh Sabaoth; one will be called the City of Destruction.

19 In that day there will be an altar to Yahweh in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to Yahweh near its border. 20 It will become a sign and a witness to Yahweh Sabaoth in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to Yahweh because of oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Champion, and He will deliver them. 21 Thus Yahweh will make Himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know Yahweh in that day. They will even worship with sacrifice and offering, and will make a vow to Yahweh and perform it. 22 Yahweh will strike Egypt, striking but healing; so they will return to Yahweh, and He will respond to them and will heal them.

23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrians will come into Egypt and the Egyptians into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. 24 In that day Israel will be the third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 25 whom Yahweh Sabaoth has blessed, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”

I can’t say for sure that this prophecy is being fulfilled and I can’t say that it isn’t, but I can say this: I hope this prophecy is coming true during our time.  Interestingly, even if it is coming true, people whose hearts are hardened toward Yahweh won’t believe that He is making a move until it is too late.  Don’t be one of them, and pray that Yahweh will open His people’s eyes so that they can see His work and understand that He alone is Sovereign.

Caroline Glick: Israel’s reviled strategic wisdom— The American foreign policy establishment’s rush to romanticize as the Arab Spring the political instability that engulfed the Arab world following the self-immolation of a Tunisian peddler in December 2010 was perhaps the greatest demonstration ever given of the members of that establishment’s utter cluelessness about the nature of Arab politics and society.

Dr. Reuven Berko: The Brothers won’t take this lying down— The Muslim Brotherhood’s counterrevolution is picking up pace and energy in Egypt’s squares.

Zalman Shoval: Another wake-up call for the US— The Americans must recognize that the Egyptian army is the only institution powerful enough to stabilize the situation on the ground.

Boaz Bismuth: Needed: A new Mubarak for Egypt— Just as the liberal youth persisted when their revolution was hijacked, the Muslim Brotherhood does not intend to sit by as their election victory is stolen from them.

Gonen Ginat: The noble savage is naked, and violent— Everyone loves the Egyptian revolutionaries of Tahrir Square so much that they ignore the atrocities taking place under the veil of love.

Michael Youssef: Egyptian Egg on Obama’s Face— With six possible Muslim Brotherhood operatives working in the Obama administration, and Obama’s full-fledged support of Morsi, you would think that Egyptians would be in love with Obama. But the deeply troubled Egyptian public is in no way enamored with this White House. Quite the contrary.

Brad Davies: Syria’s rape crisis—Rampant sexual violence is integral in the Syrian conflict and the world must end a ‘culture of impunity’ for perpetrators.

Simon Apfel: South Africans bask in a sublime moment of Jewish unity at Sinai Indaba III— “Sinai Indaba is built on three pillars – ‘Unite, Inspire, Discover,’” said South Africa’s Chief Rabbi Warren Goldstein, who introduced the initiative in 2011. “It is a time where Jews of every persuasion gather together – transcending the barriers that usually lead to fragmentation within the Jewish world – to celebrate, reaffirm and strengthen the moral vision and core values that form the very fabric of our society, and perhaps most importantly, all in a spirit of warmth and unity.”

4--Scripture of the Day

Hosea 6: 4-9

What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? What shall I do with you, O Judah? For your loyalty is like a morning cloud and like the dew which goes away early. Therefore I have hewn them in pieces by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and the judgments on you are like the light that goes forth. For I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings. But like Adam they have transgressed the covenant; there they have dealt treacherously against Me. Gilead is a city of wrongdoers, tracked with bloody footprints. And as raiders wait for a man, so a band of priests murder on the way to Shechem; surely they have committed crime.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
