Reuters and Israel Hayom Staff: In shocking announcement, pope resigns—Pope Benedict XVI said on Monday he will resign on Feb. 28 because he no longer has the strength to fulfill the duties of his office, becoming the first pontiff since the Middle Ages to take such a step. The last pope to resign was Gregory XII in 1415. He did so to end a civil war within the church in which more than one man claimed to be pope.

4--Scripture of the Day

Ezekiel 46: 16-18

Thus says Adonai Yahweh, “If the prince gives a gift out of his inheritance to any of his sons, it shall belong to his sons; it is their possession by inheritance. But if he gives a gift from his inheritance to one of his servants, it shall be his until the year of liberty; then it shall return to the prince. His inheritance shall be only his sons’; it shall belong to them. The prince shall not take from the people’s inheritance, thrusting them out of their possession; he shall give his sons inheritance from his own possession so that My people will not be scattered, anyone from his possession.”

His Name is Yahweh explains why the Name of God, Yahweh, is so important.  It’s available in eBook format and in paperback.

  • God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ This [Yahweh] is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” (Exodus 3: 15)
  • “Therefore behold, I am going to make them know—this time I will make them know My power and My might; and they shall know that My name is Yahweh.” (Jeremiah 16: 21)
  • “Behold, the days are coming,” declares Yahweh, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land.  In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘Yahweh our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23: 5-6)
  • Yeshua said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.” (John 8: 58)

13--Perspectives

#####

Dr. Gabi Avital: Land for peace won’t stop Iran— The chance of real peace between Israel and the Palestinians at this point seems to have gone up in flames.

Boaz Bismuth: Tunisia’s ‘spring’ is over— Tunisia can either preserve the modern secular achievements it has made in the past three decades, or regress to the 7th century.

Yaakov Borovsky: Racism is an active volcano— A police crackdown on racism is akin to treating a terminal illness with Tylenol.

Dr. Bosmat Yefet-Avshalom: Egypt riots: a strategic analysis— Riots recently broke out along the Suez Canal — the most serious violence since Morsi was elected president. A hostile takeover of the canal would alter the balance of power in the Middle East and block passage of third-party, including Israeli, ships.

Yehuda Shlezinger: If you want pre-election peace, prepare for post-ballot war— Deri’s appointment as party chairman could be interpreted as a prize for something that he does not deserve.

Dovid Efune: Brooklyn College, The Sunday Times and the Most Effective Response to Anti-Semitism— The public expression of ugly anti-Semitic sentiment recently seems to have become more frequent. The rise of far Right parties in Europe, and the success of radical Leftist efforts to attach the most horrific of false accusations to Israel mean that the hatred emanates from both sides of the political spectrum.

G. Murphy Donovan: The Vector of American Foreign Policy—Moral cowardice underwritten by defensive fear, naiveté, and misplaced assertions of moral equivalence, seduced by the shibboleth that Islam is one of the “world’s great religions” and not just another mutating variant of political fascism.

Michael Barone: Congressional Hearings Show Obama Treading Dangerous Global Path—There were two extraordinary disclosures in Thursday’s testimony of Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs Chairman Martin Dempsey before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

John-Pierre Maeli: Which Country has the Highest Rape Rate in the World?— With Muslims represented in as many as 77 percent of the rape cases and a major increase in rape cases paralleling a major increase in Muslim immigration, the wages of Muslim immigration are proving to be a sexual assault epidemic by a misogynistic ideology.

Rick Richman: Containment That Dare Not Speak Its Name—In a letter to the Wall Street Journal, Paul Hauptman writes that Chuck Hagel was correct when he described the Obama administration policy toward Iran as “containment.” “We are,” he writes, “approaching containment by deed, if not by label,” because the policy over the last four years has allowed Iran to reach the threshold of nuclear weapons capability.

Jonathan S. Tobin: Grand Ayatollah Puts Obama on the Spot—There has always been a contradiction between the Obama administration’s reluctance to state “red lines” on Iran and its tough talk about never allowing the Islamist regime to achieve their nuclear ambition. The president’s supporters have resolved this piece of cognitive dissonance—at least in their own minds—by sticking to the belief that sooner or later Tehran will yield to reason and start negotiating toward a compromise that the U.S. could live with even if such a deal might scare Israel. This assumption was based on the idea that sanctions are gradually bringing Iran to its knees and that its leaders are reasonable people who understand their position is unsustainable.

Karen Lugo: Islamist Censorship Charges On—They want to ban the word “Islamist.”

P. Gosselin: Monsoons In China Fluctuate In Sync With Solar Activity…No Correlation With CO2— There are hundreds of studies showing that climate fluctuations of the past were in sync with solar activity. Yet the CO2 warmists absurdly insist that the sun plays no more role in climate change today.

Larry Bell: In Their Own Words: Climate Alarmists Debunk Their “Science”— As much as I hate to nit-pick his [President Obama’s] doomsday scenarios, it might be appropriate to correct a few general misconceptions before getting back to that “overwhelming judgment of science” stuff.

John Hinderaker: Occam’s Razor, the Null Hypothesis, and Anthropogenic Global Warming—For a sophisticated yet understandable introduction to the global warming debate, it is hard to beat this article by Professor Robert Carter at the American Institute for Technology and Science Education site.

Christopher Monckton: 10 Killer Questions for Climate Extremists— 1. CO2 concentration has risen by 10% in the past 23 years, but the RSS satellite global lower-troposphere temperature-anomaly record shows warming over that period that is statistically indistinguishable from zero. How come?

William A. Levinson: Felons for Gun Control—Many of the principal agitators for more gun laws are proven elitists who believe that there is one set of rules for ordinary people and another set for themselves.

Tom Blumer: Chris Dorner: A Mass Shooter Leftists Can Love—Progressives reveal their soft spot for cop killers.

Andrew Klavan: The Truth About Dorner: Leftism Is Violence—The logic of Rousseau led to the guillotine.

Mark J. Fitzgibbons: A Property Rights Revolution for 2013—A previously apolitical organic farmer in Virginia has set off a property rights revolution that would make Founders Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and author of Virginia’s Declaration of Rights George Mason proud.

Deane Waldman: ObamaCare Shell Game Now Apparent—To solve an ObamaCare-created problem — more insured patients and even fewer doctors — California will make things worse.

Thomas Lifson: Talking heads, Hezb’allah-style—When Hezb’allah’s al Manar TV has a talking heads show with experts, it’s not exactly Charlie Rose.

Rick Moran: Pelosi, Democrats in denial about spending—”It is almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem.”

Jillian Kay Melchior: Goon City–The engineer’s wife caught his brutal beating on camera. Just seconds before, the couple had arrived at the open-shop construction site in downtown Philadelphia, walking past the cluster of union protesters who had congregated outside the fence.

14--Blessings from Revelation

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
