President Obama has trouble with the truth.

I come from the South where life is simple, or so people who have never been here or have only seen it from Hartsfield-Jackson International say. Truth is the South is just like the rest of the country in most respects, but it differs when it comes to moral codes. That’s why, for example, the South has been slow to accept the homosexual lifestyle as one of many appropriate ways of living.

With the all-out effort to normalize perversion in this country, that’s changing, but no politician in his or her right mind would want to campaign in the South on a platform that included a gay marriage plank. Unfortunately, that’s changing as more Northerners flee their homes seeking a more hospitable environment, but it will be a long time before the South resembles Massachusetts or New York politically.

One thing hasn’t changed. We still think that telling the truth means just that. We’re not confused about what the meaning of “is” is, and we tend to accept a person’s word until we know we can’t. Once we know that a person has a propensity for lying we refer to that person as a liar because, as we say down here, “If the shoe fits, wear it.”

President Obama may not find the South particularly open to him in 2012. We’ve noticed his tendency to lie at the drop of a hat, and we don’t take it lightly. Since our president enjoys making speeches and he can’t get through one without falsifying the facts, he has worn out his welcome.

In the past few days alone, he told a group of potential Jewish donors that he is Israel’s friend, and he told the media that military leaders included an as option for pulling out of Afghanistan the one he announced. Both are lies. Lieutenant General John Allen said that the pullout plan chosen by the president was grander in pace and size than any option they presented and you would have to be brain-dead to believe that President Obama is Israel’s friend. Friends don’t beat up on their friends and then kowtow to their friend’s enemies.

President Obama has trouble with the truth. That’s a fact. Will it cost him the election in 2012? Only time will tell. If his lying doesn’t do him in, maybe his record will, but again, only time will tell.
