The Israelis need to prepare for the worst, because it’s coming.
In Gaza, Hamas presented itself to the people as a beneficent social organization. It was the equivalent of Mother Teresa, The Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and the local health clinic all rolled up into one. That was before Gazans handed Hamas the reins of power, but their true colors emerged quickly after the election. Hamas morphed back into the Islamofascist terror organization that it always was, and it became a menacing threat to everyone, including the Gazans who elected them.
Politicians around the world have learned to play the same political game by the same rules:
- Rule 1 – Tell voters what they want to hear while running for office.
- Rule 2 – Do as you please if you win regardless of what you said during the campaign.
- Rule 3 – Claim to have a mandate when people complain about your policies.
President Obama didn’t invent the rules, but he knows how to exploit them. Obama’s naïve supporters in 2008 probably never imagined that their choice for president would make Richard Nixon look like a choirboy. If George Bush, “W”, or any other Republican president did what President Obama has done, Democratic leaders in Congress would demand his impeachment. Instead, they stumble over one another as they rush to the microphones to defend their leader. Fortunately for us, we can boot the bums out after four years in office. It’s not that way in other countries.
Hugo Chavez played by those rules. Today he is a virtual dictator in Venezuela. If he has his way, following in the footsteps of former Ugandan President Idi Amin, he’ll declare himself “President for Life.”
Islamofascist groups across Egypt are playing by those rules as well as they vie for political power. Hannah Allam wrote about it in her article titled In Egypt, stealthy campaign underway for big Islamist wins in parliamentary elections later this year. Will it work? We’ll see, but it does most of the time.
The first Arab Muslim nation to recognize and make peace with Israel, and 1 of only 2, is about to become Israel’s enemy again. When the dust settles, it’s highly probable, even likely, that Israel will be an island of freedom in a sea of Islamofascist despotism. The Israelis need to prepare for the worst, because it’s coming.
