The Word of Yahweh:
Thus says Yahweh concerning all My wicked neighbors who strike at the inheritance with which I have endowed My people Israel, “Behold I am about to uproot them from their land and will uproot the house of Judah from among them. And it will come about that after I have uprooted them, I will again have compassion on them; and I will bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land. Then if they will really learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ even as they taught My people to swear by Baal, they will be built up in the midst of My people. But if they will not listen, then I will uproot that nation, uproot and destroy it,” declares Yahweh. (Jeremiah 12: 14-17)

But in spite of all these things, yet you said, ‘I am innocent; surely His anger is turned away from me.’ Behold, I will enter into judgment with you because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’”

Special SnyderTalk Editorial – The NCAA Final Four
President Obama picked Duke, Kansas, Ohio State and Pittsburgh to reach the NCAA Final Four this year. His selections were the top seeds in each division. To hear him explain his selections, click here. Since he interrupted his busy schedule as the world was coming unglued around him to make his predictions, I decided that I could sacrifice a little space in SnyderTalk to examine his lineup.
The results are in. This year’s NCAA Final Four includes Connecticut, Butler, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Kentucky. That means President Obama was 0 for 4, skunked, goose egg. Not one top seed made it to the Big Dance. What’s more, none of the second seeds made it either. So much for focusing all of your attention on the consensus favorites.
This exercise proves that things aren’t always what they appear to be and that simply going along with the consensus view can lead to disaster. In basketball, the downside is unimportant unless you bet a lot of money on the outcomes. I don’t know if President Obama is a gambling man, but I do know this. The downside in geopolitics can be ruinous in terms of lives lost and dollars.
This is my suggestion for the president. Pedestrian performance isn’t good enough in the real world. He should spend more time boning up on critical global events and less time handicapping basketball games. It couldn’t hurt his performance in either area.

The times have passed the Times by.
Today is the last day you’ll see NYT articles in SnyderTalk. Despite what they say in their commercials, NYT columnists aren’t the smartest people in journalism, but I included them in SnyderTalk anyway since the NYT has (or had) such a great reputation. No longer. I won’t carry on the charade any further. Today is the day the NYT starts charging its online viewers who click on more than 20 articles a month. I won’t pretend that their content is worth paying for in a digital age.
Posting SnyderTalk every day keeps me informed, and it has taught me a lot about the sources of good content. Today, the NYT doesn’t even make the Top Ten sources, and some of its columnists are pathetic. For instance, Charles Blow and Maureen Dowd are intellectual lightweights by any reasonable standard. Nickolas Kristof is smart, but his maturity level is subpar. He thinks like a college freshman. Paul Krugman is the NYT heavyweight, but he lacks something truly great heavyweights possess – the ability to think clearly. David Brooks is the only NYT columnist I’ll miss. I don’t always agree with him, but so what. I don’t always agree with my wife either.
The times have passed the Times by, and you won’t miss anything important. In fact, dropping the NYT will save you time that you can use to read more timely and thoughtful articles. In a few years, maybe very few, I hope to write an obituary for the NYT. May it rest in peace.
