This is the Word of Yahweh:
Thus says Yahweh concerning all My wicked neighbors who strike at the inheritance with which I have endowed My people Israel, “Behold I am about to uproot them from their land and will uproot the house of Judah from among them. And it will come about that after I have uprooted them, I will again have compassion on them; and I will bring them back, each one to his inheritance and each one to his land. Then if they will really learn the ways of My people, to swear by My name, ‘As Yahweh lives,’ even as they taught My people to swear by Baal, they will be built up in the midst of My people. But if they will not listen, then I will uproot that nation, uproot and destroy it,” declares Yahweh. (Jeremiah 12: 14-17)

James Clapper has to go.
James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence, isn’t just an embarrassment. He’s dangerous. How he got to be the DNI is a question that the Obama administration needs to investigate thoroughly because whoever suggested his name is suspect, and the vetting process used by the White House is fatally flawed.
Clapper’s first big “ignorance is bliss” moment came on December 22, 2010 in an interview with Diane Sawyer: click here to watch it. On the morning of the interview, there had been 12 terror arrests in London, and she wanted to know Clapper’s thoughts. If you watch Fox News, you heard about it repeatedly all day long, but Clapper didn’t have any thoughts on the matter since he was completely unaware that there had been any arrests. The look on Clapper’s face when Sawyer asked him about it was total surprise. He was dumbfounded.
Let me try to put it in perspective. I like the Atlanta Braves. I watch their games as often as I can on television, and since I live in the Braves’ viewing area, I can watch almost every game they play. When Atlanta plays on the west coast, there’s a very good chance that I’ll fall asleep before the game ends. When that happens, the first thing I do when I get up to post SnyderTalk is check the box score. It takes very little time to bring me up to speed.
If I were DNI, don’t you think I would be curious about important global happenings? Of course I would, and you can bet I would make sure that timely information flowed to me continually. With money and staff at the DNI’s disposal, that would be a piece of cake. There’s a 6-hour time difference between London and Washington. The terror arrests were already old news when Sawyer posed her question. The fact that Clapper didn’t know about morning terror arrests in London by the time he arrived for an afternoon interview in the US tells me that James Clapper is not the right man for the job. I’m being very kind, because it tells me much more than that.
But let’s give Mr. Clapper the benefit of the doubt and assume that something beyond his control went wrong that fateful day. It was a slipup, a once in a lifetime event, a fluke. Personally, I wouldn’t make that assumption since the stakes are so high, but as I said, I’m being kind.
Now fast forward to day before yesterday. Clapper was testifying before a Congressional committee along with the FBI and CIA directors. During his carefully prepared remarks, he said, and I’m quoting, the Muslim Brotherhood is “largely secular”, and he didn’t stop there. He went on to describe the Muslim Brotherhood in such glowing terms that you would think they’re a group of Muslim Boy Scouts. Click here to watch Clapper’s testimony.
Clapper’s assessment is absurd, laughable. Even our good friends at MSNBC were surprised. Their reporter on the scene in Egypt, Richard Engel, was engaged in a discussion with Andrea Mitchell on Thursday, and she was comparing the huge gathering in Cairo’s Tahrir Square with the crowds in Berlin when the Iron Curtain came down. During Mitchell’s description of the celebrating mass of humanity in the square, she happened to mention that James Clapper said the Muslim Brotherhood is “largely secular.” Her comment took Engel by surprise, and he asked Mitchell to repeat the source of that quote because, as he said, “That was a head-snap moment.” Engel’s reaction was classic: “That doesn’t make any sense”; “That’s a complete misreading of the situation in Egypt”; and “That’s terrifying”. Engel went on to give a very good assessment of the situation on the ground where the Muslim Brotherhood is concerned. Click here to watch it.
It took the Obama administration a matter of minutes on Thursday to distance itself from Clapper’s remarks. See White House Corrects DNI Clapper’s Claim That Muslim Brotherhood Is ‘Secular’ for details. Still, I’m left with these unsettling questions. What’s going on in the White House? Do they have any idea what’s happening in the Middle East and what kind of damage the president is doing with his frequent contradictory statements?
In my mind’s eye, I can see the president lecturing his toadies about how sweet Muslims are and how we can’t allow this situation to be used by those dirty unwashed masses in the US as a vehicle to incite hatred of Islamofascist terrorists. I believe the DNI was trying to deliver the Obama party line, and when the White House saw the swift reaction to Clapper’s remarks, they issued their remarks as a damage control maneuver. That doesn’t change the horrific underlying reality, though. We have serious problems in the White House, and the DNI is clueless at best.
At the very least, we should expect our DNI to understand that they don’t call it the “Muslim Brotherhood” because it’s a secular organization. An imbecile knows that, and the Muslim Brotherhood is dangerous not just in Egypt but around the world and in the United States. I know it; you know it; Richard Engel knows it; the Saudis know it; Mubarak knows it; Suleiman knows it; but Clapper doesn’t get it. As I said, it’s not just embarrassing. It’s dangerous. James Clapper has to go, and that’s just the beginning. It looks as though we need a complete overhaul in the White House “intelligence” apparatus.
