Scripture of the day:
Isaiah 40: 21-24—Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, who stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, who makes the judges of the earth meaningless. Scarcely have they been planted, scarcely have they been sown, scarcely has their stock taken root in the earth, but He merely blows on them, and they wither, and the storm carries them away like stubble.

- A Party for Charlie Rangel? Political Class Not Even Pretending to Care Anymore

Charlie Rangel is a bona fide crook, and who is on the guest list for his fundraising extravaganza? It includes the Governor of New York, the person most likely to replace him, and both U.S. Senators from New York. Rangel has parlayed his position in the House of Representatives into untold wealth, and he got caught with his hands in the cookie jar. Rather than expose him for what he is, his Democratic Party colleagues are throwing a fundraising party for him.
President Obama said Rangel should retire with dignity. Dignity? Am I missing something? Rangel is a crook. What’s dignified about that? If you or I did what Charlie Rangel did, we would be in jail. About that fact, there should be no doubt. Rangel’s case is a perfect example of corruption at the highest levels in our government. It sickens me to think that flagrant abuse and illegality don’t even warrant a wink and a nod in our nation’s capital. Position and rank may have their privileges, but larceny isn’t one of them. Dan Rostenkowski went to jail and so should Charlie Rangel.

Richard Rives with Just the Facts
History has proven that man has a very short memory, especially concerning the precepts of his Creator. Over time, our convictions can be influenced by what we experience around us, and if we stop to think, concepts that were at one time totally unacceptable have somehow found their way into everyday life. As King Solomon once wrote, there is nothing new under the sun.
Moral decay has been the downfall of major empires and as Contemporary Christianity distances itself from The Ten Commandments—the moral precepts set forth by our Creator—it should not expect to prosper. Contemporary Christianity is in decline. Church attendance is dwindling, young people are abandoning their faith in Jesus, and religious leaders cannot figure out why.
Satan was defeated at the cross; however, the kingdoms of this world have not yet become the kingdoms of our LORD. Satan is still the god of this world and by way of deceit, non-Biblical precepts have been gradually introduced over thousands of years. Things that would never have been accepted in the past are now proclaimed by many to be “Christian” in nature.
We must return to the commandments of our Creator. They are not grievous, were given for our own good, and will never pass away. Jesus said so. Even so, those Commandments are continually challenged by religious traditions that have gradually developed over thousands of years. I’m not talking about the traditions passed down from believers that walked and talked with Jesus Christ, the Messiah of Israel, but the satanically inspired traditions of men that attempt to lead us away from the truth.
Yes all Ten Commandments apply to believers, to Christians, and by the power of the Holy Spirit they can and must be kept in order for true Christianity to survive.
Contending for the faith once delivered to the Saints:
I’m Richard Rives with Just the Facts.
