“For here we are not afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.” (Thomas Jefferson)

Scripture of the day:
Isaiah 25: 6-9—“Yahweh Sabaoth will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain; a banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, and refined, aged wine. And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, even the veil which is stretched over all nations. He will swallow up death for all time, and Adonai Yahweh will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; for Yahweh has spoken. And it will be said in that day, ‘Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is Yahweh for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.’ O Yahweh, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; for You have worked wonders, plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness. For You have made a city into a heap, a fortified city into a ruin; a palace of strangers is a city no more, it will never be rebuilt. Therefore a strong people will glorify You; cities of ruthless nations will revere You. For You have been a defense for the helpless, a defense for the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a rain storm against a wall.”
This is the mountain Isaiah is talking about. It’s Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. We call it The Temple Mount.

Commonsense: From the article above—“The Atlantic magazine writer Jeffrey Goldberg’s response was typical: ‘I am struck by the fact that he is a naturalized American citizen, not a recent or temporary visitor.’ Well, wake up and smell the deadly deception.” Michelle Malkin is right. There is no telling how many jihadists we have allowed into this country over the past decade. Failing to recognize this fundamental truth will be very costly. I’m not against immigrants. My family came to this country in the 1700s as immigrants to build a better life, but our government is ignoring the obvious facts and putting all of us in danger.

Commonsense: I’m growing weary from listening to politicians and journalists lambasting the US for using the atom bomb against Japan to bring World War II to an end. Look at the facts. We didn’t attack Japan. They attacked Pearl Harbor, killed almost 2,500 US citizens, and decimated the US Pacific Fleet. Before we used nuclear weapons against Japan, we engaged in six months of fire-bombing of 67 Japanese cities causing untold Japanese casualties. The Japanese government completely ignored an ultimatum given by the Potsdam Declaration. It said that if Japan did not surrender it would face “prompt and utter destruction”. The use of atomic weapons brought a speedy end to the war. Had the US invaded Japan instead, the cost in lives on both sides would have been high—much higher than the number of casualties resulting from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Thankfully, we knew we were at war with Japan. Unfortunately, many political leaders around the globe, including our president, haven’t accepted the fact that the whole world is at war with radical Islamists. Moderate Muslims are targets too. Radical Islamists regard them as worse than “infidels”, so you can truthfully say that every person alive who isn’t an Islamist is a potential victim.
I’m also tired of hearing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other petty tyrants in the Middle East complain about Israel’s nuclear weapons. Israel has had nuclear weapons for decades. They had them during the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and probably as far back as the Six Day War in 1967. Israel has nuclear weapons for defensive purposes only. If Israel had wanted to destroy its neighbors, it could have with just cause when they attacked Israel in 1967 and 1973. Israel is a tiny country of about 6 million Jews that is surrounded by more than 300 million Arab Muslims many of which have committed their lives to Israel’s total destruction. If there is a country on earth that needs nuclear weapons, Israel is that country.

Just the Facts by Richard Rives:
Speaking of the fourth commandment regarding Sabbath observance, the world famous evangelist Dwight L. Moody said that he honestly believed that it was just as binding in his day as it ever was. He said that he had talked with men who said that it has been abrogated, but that they could never point to any place in the Bible where God repealed it. Moody said that when Christ was on earth, He did nothing to set it aside.
The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. It is just as practicable and as necessary for men today as it ever was – in fact, more than ever, because we live in such an intense age. The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in force ever since.
This fourth commandment begins with the word “remember” showing that the Sabbath had already existed when God wrote the law on the tables of stone at Sinai. How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they admit that the other nine are still binding?
While Moody’s statements are true, there is no doubt that he had been persuaded that Sunday was the Sabbath. As I was growing up I was taught the same thing. Just like Dwight L. Moody I was taught that Sunday was the Christian Sabbath as opposed to Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. About twenty years ago our Heavenly Father got my attention and now I know better.
The truth is there is only one Sabbath day and it is not the Christian Sabbath or the Jewish Sabbath. It is the Sabbath of the LORD—the seventh day memorial of the creation—a sign between the Creator and His people.
In one respect I am just as puzzled as Mr. Moody. How can men claim that this one commandment has been done away with when they admit that the other nine are still binding?
