Today’s Feature
Rabbis have known for thousands of years that the names of Isaiah’s children are “divinely ordained signs for events that will befall the people of Israel,” (Scherman, Rabbi Nosson, The Stone Edition Tanach, The ArtScroll Series®, Mesorah Publications, Brooklyn, New York, 1996, p. 968.) and the Bible says as much explicitly. (Isaiah 8: 18) Below are the names of Isaiah’s children and the meanings of their names:
Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz—Plunder hastens and spoil quickens.
Shear-Jashub—A remainder will return.
Immanuel—God who is with us.
The names of Isaiah’s children reveal that Israel will be plundered and exiled. A remnant will return to the Promised Land. Then God will be with us. These things have happened already. We are not awaiting the fulfillment of this prophecy.
Commentary
Pallywood (that’s not my term, but I don’t know who to credit) is on the rise…at least it is for Western eyes. Sounds like lyrics to a rap song. Maybe it should be along with all the violent language because the photos I want you to see are being staged for a purpose. Some news agencies want you to think Israel is the Philistine Goliath and her Arab neighbors are little David. The truth…Israel is a tiny country with roughly 6 million Jews surrounded by more than 300 million Arabs who live on about 16% of the world’s land mass.
There isn’t room in the Middle East for all those Jews, or so radical Arab leaders and Islamofascists say. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his grand, old bearded buddies with flowing robes seem to think there isn’t room in the entire world for Jews. They would make Hitler proud. Oddly enough, they’re staging photos themselves these days, but their pictures are aimed at trying to placate and intimidate the Iranian public so they can maintain power. They have to lead with fear and oppression because their policies are not accepted by the masses in Iran.
Don’t be deceived. You are being fed a bunch of lies with images to support them. P.T. Barnum said, “You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” Don’t be fooled by news agencies and photojournalists with agendas.
