Today’s Feature
In Deuteronomy chapters 28, 29, and 30, Moses prophesied that the Children of Israel would turn away from Yahweh, and He would exile them from the land. He also told them that the day would come when they would remember Yahweh and His promises, and He would return them to the Promised Land. After they returned, Moses said they would turn back to Yahweh.
Jewish people have been expelled from the Promised Land several times since this prophecy was made. For example, the Assyrians took the Northern Kingdom (Israel) captive in about 722 B.C. and removed them from the Promised Land. Most of them never returned, and to this day most of their descendants remain Diaspora Jews. Diaspora Jews are Jewish people who are scattered throughout the world. Jewish people in the Diaspora who immigrate to Israel are said to be making aliyah.
The Babylonians completed their overthrow of the Southern Kingdom (Judah) in 586 B.C. and exiled the people to Babylon. However, the Persian king Cyrus the Great defeated the Babylonians and allowed the Jews to return to Israel after 70 years of exile.
In 135 A.D., after the Romans put down the Bar Kochba rebellion, Jewish people were forbidden to enter Jerusalem under penalty of death. Many of them were sold into slavery, and many others fled to other countries. Shortly thereafter, the name of Israel was changed to Palestine, and today we are embroiled in a conflict between Jewish people and so-called Palestinians over ownership of the Promised Land.
For your information, the Bar Kochba rebellion was an attempt by Jewish people to remove the Romans from Israel by force. Following the Bar Kochba rebellion, the Romans changed the name of Israel to Palestine to insult and humiliate the Jewish people. They did this by naming their country after their enemies who lived in the western portion of their land—the Philistines.
In May 1948, the modern state of Israel was born, and millions of Jewish people who were scattered throughout the world began returning to the land of their forefathers. Today, Israel is an advanced and productive country. The once barren desert has been turned into fertile fields where enough food is grown to feed the people of Israel, and the country exports its surplus crops to other nations around the world. However, although Israel is a Jewish state, it is a secular country. They have not yet turned back to Yahweh with all their heart and all their soul. This promise will be fulfilled, and many people believe we are living during the days when it will be fulfilled.

Fact is Stranger than Fiction
A drunken man wobbles into a grocery store and proceeds to prepare a feast for himself. Then he takes a seat in the deli area and chows down. That’s the kind of thing you expect to find in a “B” movie script, but as you can see, fact really is stranger than fiction.

- This could be the most idiotic statement of the day…maybe the week: PA’s chief Islamic judge, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, declares that Jews have no history in Jerusalem. This man must have been educated in a jihad terrorist training camp by an imbecile. Problem is that a very large number of Palestinians believe him. He should read yesterday’s SnyderTalk, but I’m assuming he can read. That may be a faulty assumption. This man has a history for wild-eyed rantings—click here. Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi may not be the dumbest man on the face of the planet, but he’s not far from the top of the list.
