Caroline Glick—The goal of Obama’s foreign policy [is to Weaken Israel]:

It isn’t surprising that the US and the other five powers signed a deal with Iran on Saturday. Over the past few weeks, US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry made it clear that they were committed to signing a deal with Iran as quickly as possible.

And it isn’t surprising that the deal these overeager leaders signed with the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism makes the world a much more dangerous place than it was before the agreement was concluded.

With the US and its allies far more eager to reach an accord with Iran on its illicit nuclear weapons program than Iran was, it was obvious from the outset that any deal ultimately reached, at least as long as these negotiating conditions remained in force, would facilitate rather than inhibit Iran’s quest to build a nuclear arsenal. And indeed, the sanctions relief that Iran has gained simply by signing on the dotted line will be sufficient to buffet the Iranian economy through a successful nuclear weapons test.

Iran will achieve nuclear capability while enriching itself through the deal because the deal gives Iran sanctions relief without requiring Iran to make any irreversible concessions. Indeed, Iran just received the international community’s permission to continue to enrich uranium, keep all its nuclear installations open and build new centrifuges.

Michael Freund: Geneva: The abandonment of the Jews—With the stroke of a pen in Geneva, the world has entered an alarming new phase, one in which the United States has turned its back on its allies and embraced a long-standing foe. Indeed, rather than ratcheting up the pressure on Iran, Washington has instead turned up the heat on Israel, forcing the Jewish state into a corner, and a dangerous one at that. Make no mistake. The agreement signed over the weekend between Iran and the West constitutes a surrender of historic proportions, one that rewards the misbehavior of the ayatollahs while punishing Israel’s steadfast reliability. If international diplomacy had its own Richter scale to measure the magnitude of strategic earthquakes, Geneva 2013 would earn a place of pride alongside Munich 1938.

Dan Margalit: The main battle is still ahead of us— Unwisely, U.S. President Barack Obama recently called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as Israel was fuming over the Iran deal. The conversation did not just result in overwhelming disappointment. On the contrary, an Israeli delegation is headed to the U.S. to discuss future cooperative measures. A wise man once said, “A gentle answer turns away wrath.” This Iran deal is a bad deal, but Israel has no better ally than the U.S. The agreement is shoddy, but Netanyahu’s pressure over the past few weeks proved beneficial on several fronts. For example, Iran agreed to shut down its reactor for plutonium production and scale back its enrichment program.

Damien McElroy, David Blair and Peter Foster: Iran nuclear deal changes Middle East alliances as Saudi Arabia rebels against US—Saudi Arabia will adopt a “new defence doctrine” focused on resisting Iranian influence in the Middle East, a senior diplomatic adviser warned on Monday, after the nuclear deal struck with Tehran by six world powers including the US. As Britain urged the main regional powers to back the agreement, the Saudis offered their grudging support, with an official statement saying that it “could be a first step towards a comprehensive solution for Iran’s nuclear programme, if there are good intentions”. But the kingdom’s rulers remain deeply suspicious of Iran’s intentions – and almost equally wary of America’s diplomacy, especially since they were kept in the dark about the secret US contacts with Iran that preceded the Geneva agreement.

Melanie Phillips: It’s 1938 all over again— When Hassan Rouhani was elected President of Iran, western leaders declared, in the teeth of stark evidence to the contrary, that this man was a reformer. So they rushed to do a deal with him over Iran’s nuclear programme, considered by the west to be a threat to the free world. But Rouhani does not run Iran. The man who actually calls the shots – the only man who matters – is Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Earlier this week, Khamenei said the Jews of Israel ‘cannot be called humans, they are like animals, some of them’ and that Israel was ‘the rabid dog of the region’.

Yoav Limor: See you in six months— Israel’s immediate reflex on Sunday, the collective knee-jerk reaction, was to declare that the agreement reached between Iran and the West was a dangerous calamity. There are many reasons for this, but the main one is that Iran has given up not one iota of its nuclear program, while the world has not only recognized its right to enrich uranium, but has also agreed to ease the crippling constraints of the sanctions.

Michael Doran: The Hidden Cost Of The Iranian Nuclear Deal— One’s evaluation of the nuclear deal depends on how one understands the broader context of US-Iranian relations. There are potential pathways ahead that might not be all that bad. But I am pessimistic. I see the deal as a deceptively pleasant way station on the long and bloody road that is the American retreat from the Middle East. By contrast, President Obama sees this agreement as stage one in a two-stage process. Six months from now, he believes, this process will culminate in a final, sustainable agreement. In the rosiest of scenarios, the nuclear rapprochement will be the beginning of something much bigger. Like Nixon’s opening to China, it will inaugurate a new era in Iranian-American relations. Whether Obama himself is dreaming of such an historic reconciliation is anybody’s guess, but many commentators certainly are.

Jeffrey Goldberg: Saudi Prince: “The Threat Is from Persia, Not from Israel”—Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal told me, “There’s no confidence in the Obama administration doing the right thing with Iran.” Alwaleed believes that Iran will pocket whatever sanctions relief it gets without committing to ending its nuclear program. I asked him if he thought the Arab states would actually back an Israeli strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. “Publicly, they would be against it,” he said. “Privately, they would love it.” “The Sunnis will love it….The Sunni Muslim is very much anti-Shiite, and very much anti-, anti-, anti-Iran.”

Dror Eydar: You don’t negotiate with evil— Seventy-five years have passed since the 1938 Munich Agreement, and while we had thought the lesson had been learned, it seems that imbeciles are paving the way toward their own ruination by negotiating with evil. It is hard to use such primeval — and yes, primitive — terms, as who speaks of evil these days? Well, look at Iran, at the Islamic republic’s death industry (it is the only thing it produces, after all — others are pumping its oil for it). Look what has happened since 1979, when the West looked on indifferently and even helped Islamofascism take over Iran. Look what has happened in the Middle East, and what has happened in the world: “They have eyes but fail to see.”

Mitch Ginsburg: Israeli Experts Suggest a Glass Half Full—Dr. Ephraim Asculai, a veteran of both the IAEA and the Israel Atomic Energy Commission, noted Sunday that the Iran accord “does not do anything to change that [breakout] time, except perhaps in a very minor way.” He said the agreed-upon limitations of the interim agreement add only “a few days” onto the regime’s clock, should it decide to sprint toward a bomb.

Victor Davis Hanson—A Culture in Ruins: Lady Gaga reportedly spent $25 million on pop art to jazz up her new and apparently underwhelming album. In contrast, Miley Cyrus’ sexual twerking at the MTV Music Video Awards earned her more millions by exposing her rather unimpressive anatomy. Both make the once vulgar Madonna seem like June Cleaver, but at least raise an existential question: how much lower can we go? Meanwhile, hip-hop artist Kanye West is promoting his own new music video. He seems to be having sex with his girlfriend Kim Kardashian while riding a motorcycle. If you did not know that Kanye West was the singer of the background music, by the quality of the lyrics and beat, you might think that a fourth grader was spewing rhymed obscenities, in the fashion that Gaga and Cyrus make up with obscenity, both spoken and visual, what they lack in musical, dance, and artistic talent.

4--Scripture of the Day Yahweh

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Micah 1: 13-16

Harness the chariot to the team of horses, O inhabitant of Lachish– she was the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion– because in you were found the rebellious acts of Israel. Therefore you will give parting gifts on behalf of Moresheth-gath; the houses of Achzib [will] become a deception to the kings of Israel. Moreover, I will bring on you the one who takes possession, O inhabitant of Mareshah. The glory of Israel will enter Adullam. Make yourself bald and cut off your hair, because of the children of your delight; extend your baldness like the eagle, for they will go from you into exile.

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
