John McCain and Lindsey Graham—Obama is failing the Middle East, and US interests there:

Every American should be aware of the recent reports in major news outlets that describe the Obama administration’s abdication of a leadership role in the Middle East and its serious consequences for U.S. national security interests.

Nothing highlights these failures more vividly than the administration’s abandonment of the Free Syrian Army and other moderate opposition forces in Syria. President Obama specifically committed to us in the Oval Office that his strategy in Syria was to degrade the Assad regime’s military capabilities, upgrade the capabilities of the moderate opposition and shift the momentum on the battlefield, leading to a negotiated end to the conflict and the departure of President Bashar al-Assad from power.

We have seen no indication that this commitment has been honored or implemented. In fact, Assad and his forces continue to terrorize the Syrian people as military assistance and fighters continue to flow in from Hezbollah and Iran. Meanwhile, Russia assists in the removal of Assad’s chemical weapons while resupplying Assad’s forces with conventional weapons that are used to murder Syrian civilians by the tens of thousands — a bizarre set of circumstances. Obviously, Syria is now a regional sectarian conflict that has spread to the surrounding nations, threatening U.S. national security interests and those of our closest partners. Consequently, any hope of ending this conflict through a negotiation in Geneva next month has little to no chance of success.

Kirsten Powers: A Global Slaughter of Christians, but America’s Churches Stay Silent—Christians in the Middle East and Africa are being slaughtered, tortured, raped, kidnapped, beheaded, and forced to flee the birthplace of Christianity. One would think this horror might be consuming the pulpits and pews of American churches. Not so. The silence has been nearly deafening.

Arlene Kushner: Restoring Israel’s Rights: The Levy Report— The Jewish people’s considerable rights to the land of Israel are founded upon several bases: Jews have been on the land for close to 4,000 years, most notably within eastern Jerusalem (where the Old City and the Temple Mount are located), and Judea and Samaria – all places where ancient Israelite heritage is marked.  Jews, in fact, are the indigenous people of Israel, present not only historically, but with continuity over the centuries.

Leo Rennert: NYT Likens Orthodox Jews to the Devil—In its Sunday, Oct. 27, edition, the Times runs an opinion piece by Shmuel Rosner about political battles in Israel over daylight saving time. Secular Israelis favor a lengthier DST period. Ultra-religious Jews favor a shorter DST period that ends before Yom Kippur. Otherwise, it means an extra hour of fasting (“Israel Salutes the Sun” page 11, Sunday Review). So far, so good, although Rosner makes clear which side he favors — the secular one obviously. But it’s an opinion piece; so he’s entitled to his opinion. What he’s not entitled to but what evidently reflects a deep-seated bias of Times editors is the last paragraph of his piece that celebrates the current extension of DST beyond Yom Kippur — a victory for the secular side. “But at least one prayer had been answered,” Rosner writes. “Israelis had proved once and for all that Yom Kippur is no excuse for turning the lights too early in the fall, and that the country’s majority — which often bickers about ultra-Orthodox power and influence — can win the battles they choose, and in this case, unchain themselves from the forces of darkness.”

Daniel Greenfield: Obama Loses the Middle East— There are things that Obama just doesn’t understand. Like math. And health care. And alliances. Alliances are as vital to foreign policy as a website that works is to online health care enrollment, but Obama has given every sign of not understanding the concept of alliances. When Hillary Clinton came to Moscow bearing her misspelled Reset button, the button was real and reset every alliance to zero.

Daniel Greenfield: Woman who Helped UK Soldier Murdered by Muslims, Targeted by Muslims and Police—No good deed goes unpunished in Eurabia and Londonistan. The media used Ingrid Loyau-Kennett’s courage to put a positive spin on the brutal Muslim murder of Lee Rigby. But the police who stayed away from the scene while the butchers ranted and raved from the Koran were quick to go after her. Ingrid Loyau-Kennett, 48, stepped in to confront the alleged killers moments after Drummer Rigby was attacked in May. But now she says she has been threatened with arrest herself after thugs pelted her house with eggs and stones. She says she dialled 999 and went outside to “calmly” remonstrate with the gang but when police arrived she claims they “manhandled” her and threatened to arrest her for a breach of the peace — and that instead of dealing with the youths responsible, a policeman grabbed her arm and twisted it.

No Compulsion: Why is the left so blinkered to Islamic extremism?: A report calls out the left for embracing fundamentalists—Imagine looking at a 3D image with those special red and blue glasses but closing one of your eyes. Some parts of the image would disappear if you closed your left eye and other parts would be missing if you closed your right eye. Politics often leads a person to close a metaphorical eye. People only see what they want to see and shut out anything uncomfortable which contradicts their world view. Evidence is no longer evidence at all but rather white noise to be filtered out, or ammunition to be twisted and used against the other side. The existence of a large amount of this type of confirmation bias in politics is a conclusion one is bound to draw after reading a new report by the One Law for All campaign: Siding with the Oppressor: The Pro-Islamist Left.

Arnold Ahlert: Obama’s Military Purge— Is the Obama administration in the midst of a military purge? This year alone, nine senior commanding generals have been fired by the administration, and retired generals and current commanders who have spoken to The Blaze believe that political ideology is the primary impetus behind the effort. “I think they’re using the opportunity of the shrinkage of the military to get rid of people that don’t agree with them or not toe the party line,” a senior retired general told website. ”Remember, as Rahm Emanuel said, never waste a crisis.” The general spoke on the condition of anonymity because he still provides the government with services and believes this administration would retaliate against him.

Kathleen Parker: The White House Comedy Club— While the nation’s attention has been riveted on the Keystone Congress, the executive branch was busy developing its own comedy routine. Picture the cast (you know the characters) shrugging their shoulders in unison: “Who, me?” This would be the response to the glitch-rich health-care rollout, for which no one seems responsible. “Beats me. I thought it was working!” This would also be the response to the eavesdropping scandal, which soon could become an international showdown. “Who knew?” Hint: He used to work at the National Security Agency (NSA) and now lives in Russia.

Washington Examiner Editorial: Why work when you can live comfortably on the government dole?— Five years into the Great Recession of 2008, the economy continues to stumble along like the walking dead. Though the official jobless rate has fallen to 7.2 percent, the reduction came about because fewer people are actively looking for work. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that the number of working-age people not in the workforce has hit a 35-year high of 90 million. The “official” unemployment number only counts the 11.3 million people actively searching for work. The other 78.7 million are staying home. This is happening in part because President Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress have made easier to stay home. According to Census Bureau data, the number of people getting a means-tested government benefit such as Medicaid, subsidized housing, welfare, or food stamps now tops 108 million.

Simon Roughneen: No more ‘Allah’ for Christians, Malaysian court rules— In the latest round of a divisive political and religious saga, a Malaysian court ruled that the word “Allah” can only be used by the country’s Muslim majority, overturning a previous decision that allowed other faiths using the term to denote “G0D” in their local-language services and Scriptures. Malaysia’s Court of Appeal issued an expansive ruling that sparked surprise and anger throughout the country. At the court in Malaysia’s administrative capital, Putrajaya, Justice Mohamed Apandi read a brief summary of the 100-plus-page judgment. “Our common finding is that the usage of Allah is not an integral part of the Christian faith. We cannot find why the parties are so adamant on the usage of the word,” he said.

The scripture below is from the New American Standard Bible, and the hyperlinks associated with each word are from Strong’s Concordance for the New American Standard Bible.

Amos 8: 4-6

Hear this, you who trample the needy, to do away with the humble of the land, saying, “When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain, and the sabbath, that we may open the wheat [market], to make the bushel smaller and the shekel bigger, and to cheat with dishonest scales, so as to buy the helpless for money and the needy for a pair of sandals, and [that] we may sell the refuse of the wheat?”

14--Blessings from Revelation 2

Blessings in the Book of Revelation is a book that you need to read, especially now.  There are blessings throughout the Scriptures but Revelation is the only book in the Bible actually containing a specific blessing for reading it. It’s repeated twice, once at the beginning and again at the end. This is the reason that I believe Revelation should be the first step toward studying biblical prophecy. Though not easy to do, Revelation can be broken down and understood by anyone, not just the academic elite. So, Revelation’s blessings are for everyone.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.

  • Stand! is a suspense novel that exposes the lies, corruption, and greed underlying the theory that man-made CO2 emissions are responsible for global warming.  Professor Wes Carlyle and Karen Sterling, his research collaborator, carefully scan the audience for their would-be attacker—a member of the enviro-gestapo who has been following them for days.  Wes spots his man in the back of the room leaning against the wall.  Suddenly, another man in the audience steps forward and moves toward Karen at a menacing pace.  With a vicious stroke, he swings a billy club at her head.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
  • What Will You Do with the Rest of Your Life? deals with a question that every Christian has to consider: what should I do with my life?  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
  • Falsely Accused is a true story about a young woman who was accused of committing a double homicide.  It’s about a travesty of justice, and it reveals Yahweh intervening in the life of a believer to rescue her from danger in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.  Everyone will enjoy the book, but young people in particular need to read it because the mistakes made that led to the problem could have been avoided.  They were the kinds of mistakes that young people are prone to make.  As they say, forewarned is forearmed.  Click here to order the eBook.  Click here to order the paperback.
