Yahweh’s Promises Will be Fulfilled No Matter What People Try to Do

The Oslo Accords grew out of the Madrid Conference in October 1991.  They were completed in August 1993 and signed on September 13, 1993.  The two-state solution we hear so much about today was mapped out in the Oslo Accords, and since the Oslo Accords were signed, movement toward the creation of a Palestinian state inside Israel has been the primary pursuit of the Quartet—the United States, Europe, Russia, and the UN.  The United States was the pivotal player in the formulation of the Oslo Accords.

George Bush, the father, was president of the United States when the Madrid Conference convened in 1991.  At that time, he was considered a shoo-in for re-election.  The very day that the Madrid Conference convened, The Perfect Strom hit the Eastern Atlantic Seaboard of the United States doing great damage to the Bush compound on Walker’s Point in Kennebunkport, Maine.  A best-selling novel by Sebastian Junger titled The Perfect Storm and a movie by the same title starring George Clooney captured the imaginations of millions and preserved the legacy of that storm for future generations.  In November 1992, George Bush, the father, was defeated by an obscure Arkansas governor named Bill Clinton.

Are these just coincidences, or is there more to the story?  Read on.

  • Yahweh made a promise to Abraham: “Now Yahweh said to Abram, ‘Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.  And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.” (Genesis 12: 1-3)
  • Yahweh made a promise to Isaac: “Do not go down to Egypt; stay in the land of which I shall tell you.  Sojourn in this land and I will be with you and bless you, for to you and to your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to your father Abraham.  I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and will give your descendants all these lands, and by your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed Me and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes and My Laws.” (Genesis 26: 2-5)
  • Yahweh made a promise to Jacob: “I am Yahweh, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie, I will give it to you and to your descendants. Your descendants will also be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants shall all the families of the earth be blessed.  Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” (Genesis 28: 13-15)

Is there a connection between Yahweh’s promises regarding the Promised Land and the events surrounding the Oslo Accords?  Does Yahweh really intervene to bless those who bless Israel and curse those who cruse Israel?  Read on.

  • When Moses led the Children of Israel out of Egypt, they were a large group.  There were at least 2 or 3 million people and there may have been as many as 6 million people traveling with Moses.  Rulers of the nations through which the Children of Israel walked along with their herds and flocks were terrified.  A group that large could easily consume virtually all the vegetation in the land and drink most of the available fresh water.  Those rulers did not know that Yahweh miraculously provided food and water for His children.
  • As they marched toward the land of Moab, which is in Jordan today, they fought with and defeated the King of Arad, the King of the Amorites, and the King of Bashan.  When they reached Moab, the Moabite King, Balak, sent for Balaam because he was well-known as a man who possessed the ability to bless or to curse.  Balak wanted Balaam to curse Israel and to destroy them.  Yahweh appeared to Balaam in Person and said, “You shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” (Numbers 22: 12)
  • Balak had offered to pay Balaam a large sum of money if he would curse the Children of Israel, so he tried his best to get permission from Yahweh to curse them.  Eventually, Yahweh appeared to Balaam in Person with a sword in His hand ready to strike if Balaam did not change his mind. (Numbers 22: 23)  Balaam went on to bless the Children of Israel much to the disappointment of Balak, but Yahweh never forgave Balaam for his evil intent and for his deceit and lustful desire to destroy God’s chosen people for money. (Jude 11)

Yahweh is and always has been Israel’s Protector.  He blesses those who bless Israel, and He curses those who curse Israel.  If you are not a believer, this is gobbledygook to you, but if you are a believer, you see Yahweh’s hand in events that are shaping our destiny and the destiny of Israel.

President Obama is pressuring Israel to move ahead with a peace deal that will divide the Promised Land, threaten the sanctity of Jerusalem, the holiest city in the world to Yahweh, and threaten Israel’s security.  We call Israel the Promised Land for one reason.  Yahweh promised it to Abraham and his descendants through Isaac and Jacob.  Are there consequences for interfering with Yahweh’s fulfillment of those promises?  Some say “yes” and others say “no,” but this is not a matter of opinion.  It’s an empirical question that has a right or wrong answer.  Judging by what the Bible says and what I see, the answer is unquestionably “yes.”

The United States is once again standing in the way of Yahweh’s promise to unite Israel and Judah and bring them to the Promised Land where they can live in peace.  Now is the time to decide whose side you are on.  If you are for Yahweh, you can’t be against Israel.  If you are against Israel, you can’t be for Yahweh.  Similarly, if you are pro-Obama, you can’t be pro-Israel.  It’s as simple as that.
